10/06/2025: An experience to remember We were the only guests, pampered and delighted with extraordinary dishes. Positive note: they noticed that I didn't like the dessert, which I didn't enjoy because I don't like certain ingredients (my fault) and they offered to replace it with one I liked, but having given my consent when choosing the menu, I refused to accept the courtesy, an appreciated gesture and I can only give a positive opinion for the wonderful lunch and the service, courteous but not intrusive; competence, preparation and courtesy to the maximum score allowed. Well done everyone and amazing dishes (well, yes, I even tasted the dessert!)

02/09/2025: After a decade of what I consider a homely management, Ristorante ZU, led by a talented young chef, Angelo, has decided to completely modernize and revolutionize the restaurant's cuisine. I was 90% sold on the €80 menu. Everything was delicious and perfectly balanced; I believe this ability to balance flavors and combine them with herbs and spices is Angelo's forte. The menu is very simple but surprising. The ingredients are relatively simple and excellently prepared. What I would have liked is a slightly larger portion of the proteins included, such as trout and lamb, which were objectively underserved. One negative point, but it could be a completely personal impression and taste, is that I really don't like tables without tablecloths. Putting cutlery on the table is just something I don't like. Furthermore, they are basic plywood tables that don't do justice to the location. The chairs are also very minimal and very uncomfortable. I recommend reconsidering this in the future. The service is very attentive and attentive, as well as competent. The chef's visits to the table to explain the main dishes were also very welcome.

01/08/2025: Dinner for two at a restaurant that promises much but only partially delivers. The appetizers offered an interesting sampling: some dishes were fresh and well-thought out, others lacking flavor and texture. The portions? Truly minimal, almost symbolic—even for a single person. The first courses weren't convincing: fresh ingredients, yes, but the preparation failed to showcase them. The same goes for dessert: good intentions, poorly executed. The high prices would only be justified by the overall higher quality. Good service, no complaints: courteous and attentive without being intrusive.

The menu was superb, and the service team was excellent. Nothing to add. Flurin is definitely worth a visit; Thomas Ortler offers an exciting range of flavors.

29/08/2025: We chose this restaurant from among the many in Ortigia and were delighted with the quality and deliciousness of the ingredients, and therefore the dishes. The caponata was excellent, truly excellent, with a very unique recipe: raisins and pine nuts in a triumph of Sicilian style. The staff, consisting of two sisters in the dining room (the third in the kitchen), is very friendly and approachable. They make you feel at home and offer plenty of advice. The fish is fresh. We have some concerns about the desserts, which look beautiful but are actually quite lacking, and the surrounding atmosphere (we practically ate dinner on the sidewalk). Overall, a highly recommended option for lunch or dinner on the beautiful island of Ortigia.
