Unexpected quality on the piazza

They still exist, these little magical places where food, culture and passion blossom. When first entering the amfitheater I was fearing tourist traps which Italy has enough of. Wzs it the menu or the delicate jnterior or gentle spirit the staff radiated? Without losing myself in too tedious details, I can only advice anyone looking for Tusczn cuisine to try this restaurant. The rigatoni I had was dressed with the best pasta sauce I ever tasted ( arrabiatta), as a main I had tuna tataki which was a lovely, slightly nonchalant dressing with fresh vegetables znd which proved the geniosoty of this place. Food is served her with a passion and a deeper understanding of what the easy life shouldd be like. It was my best experience of the Tusczn feeling and a week later I still quietly hum inside being well content that gems like this still exist, even in tourist heavy cities. An absolute jewel of Italian cuisine.

We visited Angolo Tondo during our stay in Lucca and were absolutely delighted. The service was very friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The dishes were not only excellent but also creative and special – you can tell that high-quality ingredients and a lot of love go into preparing them. Every dish was a culinary highlight. The location is ideal for taking a stroll through Lucca's beautiful old town after your meal. We parked in the Mazzini parking garage, and the restaurant was easily accessible on foot from there. We will definitely return on our next visit to Lucca. Highly recommended!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A truly excellent experience. Everything was delicious, and I really appreciated the chef's experimental creations, which were explained to us one by one with passion and attention, making the meal even more interesting. The service was impeccable: the waiters are extremely friendly, professional, and always present. They have the ability to understand the customers' needs without even having to explain them, demonstrating great experience and attentiveness throughout the meal. The location is splendid, overlooking the square. I was there in July, and the outdoor seating area was equipped with a water misting system that pleasantly cooled the atmosphere without being invasive. A well-deserved five stars. If I return to Lucca, I will definitely return to Angolo Tondo.

Lovely restaurant! Nice dishes!

We had reserved a table for my partners 80th birthday before we traveled to Italy. When we arrive at L Angolo Tondo the staff were delightful, looking after us and sitting us at a prime table with an excellent view of the piazza. The food was excellent as were the drinks, the bill very reasonable for what we had. I would highly recommend this restaurant 👌

Had dinner last night. Top location in the Amphitheater square. The food was very good, but what really impressed us was the service! The guys were truly kind and knowledgeable! It was a pleasure being guests at Angolo Tondo.

A truly excellent culinary experience in the magnificent Piazza dell'Anfiteatro. The quality of the ingredients is evident from the first bite. I was particularly impressed by the presentation of the dishes. The prosciutto platter with generous truffle shavings was exquisite. Every course was meticulously prepared. The service was impeccable, and the atmosphere made everything perfect. I will definitely return soon to try other items on the menu. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Lucca.

Everything was perfect! The Piazza dell'Anfiteatro in Lucca seems to consist entirely of restaurants. However, we had prepared for our visit using Google and, based on the excellent reviews, chose L'Angolo Tondo, heading there specifically for lunch. Although we arrived at the restaurant 15 minutes before noon, after a brief exchange, it was no problem at all to get a table. Getting to the restaurant itself wasn't so easy, though, as we had to cross the square, and the competition and their touts were extremely persistent. But our perseverance was more than rewarded! Incidentally, these touts or salespeople are nowhere to be found at L'Angolo Tondo, and the restaurant simply doesn't need them. Located right at the gateway to the upper city center, it's definitely worth a visit, not only for its ambiance and excellent food. The service is quick, extremely competent, very friendly, and warm. And yet, it's not at all pretentious. The menu is clear but not boring, and the dishes were beautifully presented, absolutely delicious, and all at very reasonable prices for this location. €140 including €8 tip is perfectly acceptable for a two-course meal with drinks for four people, especially considering the excellent quality. We had a wonderful start to our stroll through Lucca and can therefore wholeheartedly recommend it. We will definitely be back. Grazie Mille.
