The experience was truly positive in every way: the staff was extremely kind, helpful, and attentive, making us feel immediately at ease. The dishes were excellent, carefully prepared, and rich in flavor. It was a pleasant discovery and an experience we recommend to anyone in Matera who wants to enjoy excellent food in a welcoming atmosphere.
17/06/2026: Great culinary experience in Matera. The restaurant is by the street so you can feel the vibe of the town but is private enough to allow your privacy. The food was delicious from appetizer to dessert. Local dishes with a touch of sophistication that made them all real gourmet! The staff is super friendly and welcoming and walked me through their recommendations. Definitely worth trying it! Grazie mille

Authentic dishes, authentic Basilicata flavors, and attentive service. Everything is carefully prepared without exaggeration, with plenty of substance and friendliness.
We had a wonderful time and would happily recommend it. A restaurant we'll gladly return to.

04/05/2026: Osteria L’arco was my favorite dining experience in Matera! The food was phenomenal with lots of local dishes to try and the service was the best. The pasta with peppers and ricotta is so far my best pasta in all of Italy! And the chocolate cake with orange and peppers was an amazing combination (I especially loved the cocoa hearts). It was my first dinner as a solo traveler and they treated me well. Grazie L’arco!

17/05/2026: Passing through Pisticci, we had lunch at this restaurant and were pleasantly surprised by the hospitality and friendliness of the staff.
The lunch was excellent, with generous and high-quality dishes, so much so that we didn't have a chance to try the main courses because we were full after the appetizer and first course.
The flavored grappas, made in-house, are especially noteworthy; they're truly delicious.
I hope to return soon; highly recommended!!!

09/06/2026: During our visit to Matera, we dined at this trattoria. The staff were friendly, the service quick, and the dishes were delicious: a cheese and cured meat platter, fava bean puree with chicory, and orecchiette alla matarese. I recommend it.

A normal atmosphere.
The food is good.
One of the two nights we dined there, they forgot our outdoor reservation. They apologized and brought us bruschetta for the inconvenience.
26/06/2026: Excellent welcome. Quaint. Homely. The only flaw... I'd add a little veal and lamb to the mixed meats, rather than just all pork.

05/07/2026: A historic trattoria serving traditional Lucanian dishes. Excellent ingredients, friendly, unobtrusive service. Service times were just right, and kudos to the waiters, who were always polite and friendly. We'll definitely be back when we're in Matera. 👏👏👏
04/07/2026: I give it an average three-star rating for these reasons. I called shortly after noon to make a reservation for dinner for two and was told that if I arrive between a quarter to eight and eight, I'll definitely find a table. What kind of answer is that? I ordered baked lasagna, nothing special. I ordered a platter of cold cuts and a cheese platter; nothing special. I asked for a mixed salad; they told me it wasn't on the menu and therefore wasn't served. But what kind of trattoria is it if it can't serve a mixed salad? The prices are high for the quality of the food. The tables are too small. They advertise it as a place with a long, historic tradition, perhaps once upon a time!

17/05/2026: Drawn by the positive reviews, we decided to have lunch here. Unfortunately, neither the first nor the second course satisfied us, and we left feeling truly disappointed. The photos, unfortunately, don't reflect what we were actually served. The only positive note was the wine, but it wasn't enough to compensate for the quality of the food. The sauce was very watery, and the pork cutlet seemed to be drowned in wine: there was no reduction, as indicated on the menu. A real shame.
14/05/2026: This restaurant has a rich cultural heritage; it's nearly 100 years old, and the building itself is over 100 years old. That's why it received a cultural award, which is quite unique.
The food is Southern Italian cuisine. Local red peppers (I didn't take a picture) are used in the dishes, and they're very fragrant.
Please see the photos for food descriptions. Overall, it suited my taste. Personally, I think everything—from the sourdough bread and cheese platter to the raw meat platter—was delicious.
If you're ever in this area, I highly recommend trying it. 👍🏻😊
