14/08/2025: This is definitely one of the few places in Marina that pays attention to the food and the diner's culinary experience. The service is attentive, the waiters are friendly, and the dishes are beautiful and interesting. However, there are some aspects that could be improved to truly be top-notch and comparable to the city's good restaurants: 1 - Improve the meat menu - I had the opportunity to try both meat and fish here. While the fish dishes were very good and distinctive, the meat was below average. 2 - Pay attention to the bread and oil: the idea of providing five types of bread with a sampling of oil is very nice, but you have to be careful not to dry out the bread and leave enough oil - otherwise, it's just a superficial gesture that adds no value. Reservations days/weeks in advance are highly recommended.

23/08/2025: We looked for places in Cefalù through the Michelin Guide, they were all full except this one, and we understood why! The dishes were bland, but the worst thing of all was the service, very slow, even though there were only 4 people in total, and also never a smile and total listlessness on the part of the waiters. Absolutely not up to the standard of the Michelin Guide.

09/08/2025: A slightly critical five stars. There are some real strengths here, but it's not a perfect experience either. We tried five dishes (two starter, two pastas, one main) and the pastas were by far the strongest element. I feel like (non-Italians, at least) are constantly chasing elusive highs when it comes to pasta, where the textures and richness just come together into completely satisfying mouthfuls. Both pasta dishes we tried achieved this in different ways, for me the spaghetti was the standout. Both were elevated but not a huge departure from tradition (nor, sadly, huge portions - I could have eaten five times as much and been taken home strapped on the back of a vespa). The main was solid - grilled squid, came together nicely with the chickpea miso and other elements. I think you could probably do more with squid this good, but it's a strong dish. Oh I'll also mention the bread here - whoever is in the kitchen really gets their carbs, they're making absolutely fantastic bread as well as pasta. Where I was more skeptical was the starters. This should be the space where the kitchen is having the most fun - smaller portions and the fact that if someone doesn't like it, you have multiple courses to make them still leave happy means that you can really push the envelope if you want to. But here, the envelope remained pretty unpushed. The raw shrimp with citrus was fine, but only fine - fun presentation (I honestly thought they were baby carrots at first) but ultimately not more than the sum of its parts. The grilled onion was in theory more interesting - taking typical Sicilian ingredients and adding umami sources - but in the end there was nothing hugely unexpected about the taste and textures and you're just kind of sitting there thinking "damn, I just paid more than 20 euro for an onion". The price/quality ratio just isn't quite there for the starters - honestly just order an extra pasta for the same price. The question of fun is also important because while the service was professional and attentive, the vibe is currently dour. This is the height of the tourist season, and the restaurant is mostly empty in a Friday night, and the staff know it. That sucks, and they deserve better tbh - there is much worse food for not that much less to be found in crowded restaurants all over town. But this year at least, people are willing to pay for sea views over better food. Lastly, the wine was very good, and accommodating of ordering by the glass. Not the biggest cellar in town, but if you like your wines more natural or offbeat it's a well curated list. Overall, I'd recommend Qualia - but it probably needs to reinvent itself soon. I'd go back tonight if they agreed to sell me a bigger proportion of pasta and a glass or two of well-sourced wine, and honestly that feels more like the restaurant Cefalù needs.

18/08/2025: A truly quaint trattoria, perfectly located with a spectacular view of the lake: the view alone is worth a visit! The food is excellent, featuring high-quality local cured meats and dishes that showcase traditional flavors. I highly recommend the tagliatelle with lake ragù, a simple yet truly surprising dish. The restaurant is small and welcoming, always very busy: for this reason, it's important to book in advance. Excellent quality, fair prices, and an authentic atmosphere make this trattoria a must-visit: a genuine place where you can feel at home and enjoy traditional specialties in a unique setting.

31/08/2025: Fantastic experience, truly old-fashioned quality and courtesy, everything delicious, and the restaurant owner was extremely attentive even though it was a busy Sunday lunch! Highly recommended!

03/09/2025: I already knew LaPalma and was blown away by the kindness and beauty of the place, as well as the food, especially the appetizers and desserts. I'd never seen anything like it. But unfortunately, when I returned recently for another wedding, I found a different level of service, not in terms of ingredients, but in terms of overall abundance. Speaking of desserts, there are some very nice new additions, but in my opinion, the selection and abundance are much less impressive. Let's hope it was an isolated incident, because as a venue, it's a worthy one.

14/08/2025: Excellent pizzeria! The dough was thin and crispy, the ingredients fresh and flavorful, and each bite was full of flavor. The service was fast and friendly, and the friendly atmosphere made us want to come back soon. A real favorite!

05/09/2025: The restaurant is located in a quaint and meticulously maintained setting, with an intimate and refined atmosphere. The menu features traditional dishes from the lower Salento region, such as stuffed eggplant, spaghetti with turnips, municheddhe (land snails), and paparina, as well as an excellent selection of dry-aged meats. All the vegetables and greens used come from the owner's garden, and this truly makes a difference on the palate. In short, Chiostro degli Scolopi is an essential stop for anyone wishing to experience the flavors of Salento's tradition.

04/09/2025: We had dinner two nights ago. Antonio welcomed us into a familiar yet unpretentious atmosphere. The restaurant is housed in a former convent, with outdoor tables overlooking the cloister, but we ended up taking a tour of the interior, which is well worth a visit. The food was simple but high-quality, with great attention to the ingredients; it was tasty and delicious. The service was friendly but never intrusive. Antonio was very cheerful, friendly, and discreet. Highly recommended.

02/09/2025: A little gem. Even though it is right in the middle of all of Castelmola, it is quiet and peaceful, with a fantastic view of the mainland. The host couple are extremely friendly and happy to tell you about things. The food was lovely and fresh. Wine was lovely in half and full liters. All in all a fantastic experience

01/09/2025: During our three-day stay in Castelmola, we had breakfast here every day and can wholeheartedly recommend it. We've rarely met such a friendly, unobtrusive, and helpful owner. The food is simple but truly delicious. There are great savory paninis and sandwiches, and a fantastic granita with brioche. We'd love to come back, and a visit to PierdeCat is a must during any stay in Castelmola!
