30/06/2025: Family-run restaurant and this is their strong point. Impeccable service also given by Martina's experience who was able to recommend us an excellent wine to accompany my meal. Excellent food quality, and equally excellent value for money. If you are in Assisi I recommend you go there!

21/06/2025: The chef would like to take you to Polignano a Mare, his hometown. It's a shame that so much talent in the kitchen (the fish ragù is very good) is lost with fish that is not fresh. Damn, I wanted to give you a full 5 stars. Anyway, worth a try.

We spent a relaxing evening with a delicious dinner and an excellent, generous breakfast. Recommended for a relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and a peaceful getaway in nature!

27/05/2025: We had one of the most unforgettable and authentic experiences of our entire holiday in Umbria thanks to Simone and Mara, the wonderful couple behind Mr Cici in Spoleto. While staying at a nearby Borgo, Simone came to host a private pizza-making evening—and the pizza was so good, our son devoured three margherita pizzas! We were very interested in learning how to make pizza from scratch, and to our surprise, Simone and Mara warmly invited us into their kitchen for a private pizza lesson. It was spontaneous, genuine, and deeply memorable. Mara, who lived in Australia for 8 years and speaks perfect English, made us feel instantly at home. Both she and Simone are incredibly knowledgeable, passionate about food, and run an impeccably clean, welcoming kitchen. As we cooked, staff members came and went, and it was clear Mr Cici is more than a restaurant—it’s a family. What truly made it special was how they included our children (ages 6 and 9), who were completely enamored with Simone and Mara and are still talking about them! It was a magical experience we’ll always remember. Thank you, Simone and Mara, for your kindness, your warmth, and your incredible pizza. We hope to return one day!

22/07/2025: La Taverna di San Silvestro is definitely the place to go for those who want to eat well, relax, and enjoy the atmosphere of one of Italy's most beautiful villages. Always ask what's on the menu—you might be surprised!

18/07/2025: Given that I'm a lover of trattorias and the authenticity of the culinary tradition that in central Italy blends seamlessly with the historicity of its villages, I couldn't resist trying this restaurant, which has a good review and is in a spectacular location. We booked a day in advance just to secure a table for two and appreciate the setting, but upon our arrival, we were handed a small plastic table on the restaurant's terrace. Not exactly the best place to appreciate one of the restaurant's signature features. The service was barely adequate, and the staff were unhelpful, unfriendly, and at times almost annoyed by our presence. My expectations were dashed from the start. As for the food, my opinion is slightly on the positive side. The tagliatelle with wild boar ragù was good, and the Pajata (a Lazio tradition and a rare dish these days) was also decent. At the "let's pay the bill" stage, the wait was quite long. From the kitchen came shouts and vulgar insults, which didn't quite cap off my evening of cuisine and tradition. But you know, perhaps even insults are a part of tradition, certainly not of politeness. All in all, I hope this place can make significant progress, including in terms of staff, because the location and the village of Collepino are already a draw that draws this place. It's no coincidence that the restaurant was packed. Lastly, I paid, and left unsatisfied, but at least with a full stomach.

22/04/2025: Known by chance during a visit to Gubbio, we stopped for a lunch break... nice, modern place... platter with fresh, quality cold cuts and cheeses... excellent wine recommended by the waiter... excellent service... it was a splendid discovery

16/08/2025: The atmosphere is very refined and visually striking. I didn't appreciate the assault from the waiter who escorted me to my table, as I hadn't even read the drinks menu and was already asking whether to bring water or Coke. Although the food is kept hot, it turns out cold as soon as it's brought to the table, not to mention several dishes that I found to be way too spicy and salty, turning me into a camel from all the water I had to drink. The dishes they grill on the spot are dry and rubbery. I can't complain about the wide selection of food, but the sushi is subpar. The staff is surly and unwilling to help customers, with poor manners and many very noticeable long faces. The welcome is poor, if not nonexistent. The price is disproportionate for the selection. The only positive note is the fruit and dessert counter, which offers a wide selection.

09/07/2025: Dear Owner, the pizza dough wasn't "real" Italian, the Mediterranean sauce was decidedly strange, with the shrimp in pink mayonnaise, and they didn't give us a napkin or a knife and fork. We're disappointed. The tuna pizza was okay. The beers were good, but cold (customers from Hungary). I should give 0 points based on a not-so-intelligent answer. 😭

18/02/2025: I went to dinner at this restaurant on Valentine's Day. I'd like to point out that despite it being a "holiday," the place wasn't packed; in fact, we found a table without a reservation. We sat down around 8:00 PM and were immediately offered a welcome appetizer. Here's the first negative: the appetizer was nothing more than a shot of spirits served in a small glass, with nothing to eat (they might have served a few tarallos or breadsticks). Basically, without having eaten anything, you end up drinking a lot of this spirits, which, instead of satiating your hunger, destroys your stomach. We ordered two plates of beef gyoza and three sushi rolls. Second negative: A table who arrived after us (but who already knew the staff) ate before us, who had arrived earlier. They managed to both order and eat in about an hour (by 9:00 PM, they were already out of the restaurant). This was very frustrating because, on the contrary, we had to wait 40 minutes before we could eat anything, and during all that time, the only thing we'd eaten was that shot served as an entrée. After a 40-minute wait, our three rolls arrived. Nothing to complain about; they were good and beautifully presented. We waited another 20-30 minutes, but the gyoza hadn't arrived, so I asked a waitress, who told me they were out of beef gyoza. (We had ordered them an hour earlier, and when we ordered, the beef gyoza were available! I wonder who ate my gyoza.) I know the waitress made a mistake with the gyoza, and obviously it's not her fault—to err is human—but I wonder, how is it possible that ALL the staff (at least 4 people) don't realize that a table of two people has been waiting over 40 minutes for food, and no one comes to ask if we want anything else or if everything is okay? My impression was that of a place trying to be chic, serving water in a glass and an entrée (conceptually flawed), but then completely forgetting the basics, like giving out peanuts or taralli while you wait, and taking care of customers when they need it. In fact, we were completely forgotten about the entire evening. I want to clarify, however, that I don't believe this was the fault of a single person, but of ALL the staff. We had a table near the counter, clearly visible to EVERYONE, but no one ever bothered to ask if we were missing anything or if we wanted anything else. Instead, I watched empty tables being cleaned while we waited for someone to serve us. We finally left at 10 pm (after two hours) without having eaten practically anything. (3 rolls for two). When it came to the bill, nothing was taken off our bill, and we paid a flat 60 euros for: 3 rolls 1 water 1 beer. I'm leaving this negative review because the "dinner" was expensive and the staff was practically absent. Some advice for the owner/staff: 1 - You should eat something with the entree, especially if you serve a spirit. I don't think the people who come to eat at your restaurant usually eat first, so they have empty stomachs! Serving a spirit without even a drop of water and making you wait 40 minutes for a first course is a mistake. 2 - It's not fair to serve tables that arrive later (even if they're "friends" or regulars). This is very annoying for customers, especially if they have to wait 40 minutes before getting something to eat and are forced to watch whoever arrived later eat. 3 - After a mistake, they try to make up for it by offering something or offering some kind of discount to make up for the embarrassment. Instead, they didn't even take away our bottle of water... Personally, I won't go back and I wouldn't recommend it for dinner! It's more of a bar that tries to do a bit of sushi. If you want to drink, it's OK, but for food, I'd recommend going somewhere else. In short, it's one of those places where you spend WELL and eat LITTLE.

19/07/2025: I stayed here before tackling the long climb to the summit of Monte Cucco. The refuge has a bar and restaurant, open for lunch and dinner on weekends, and for lunch during the week, though not always. Excellent location and panoramic views from the top; tent camping is available. I'll be back.

02/07/2025: Beautiful hotel in Umbertide, near Montone, a town that is definitely worth a visit. I used the hotel services with swimming pool, not those of the restaurant which I therefore do not review. The place is truly wonderful. A large well-kept garden and an old restored mill. Classic elegance in the furnishings. The swimming pool is beautiful but not very well-kept: I found it quite dirty, with insects and leaves. It would really only take someone to do a little daily cleaning with a net. The breakfast is very good (I would recommend putting a label on the cakes to understand what they contain) and the rooms are spacious and clean. The only flaw for me was the staff not being very "communicative". It's fine to be discreet but the guy I met several times at the reception struggles even to say hello or to detach himself from the PC for a moment to listen to a request. Obviously it's nothing serious, just a tip to improve!

09/08/2025: A peaceful haven with untapped potential Relais Il Canalicchio is a place that enchants with its beauty and breathtaking location. The splendid view of the Umbrian hills is truly a panacea for the spirit, and the tranquil, characteristic atmosphere makes your stay a truly relaxing experience. The food is good, and the restaurant's rustic, elegant setting contributes to a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. However, a certain sense of decay can be felt, partially obscuring the property's great potential. With more careful maintenance and greater attention to detail, Relais Il Canalicchio could achieve excellence. It would be a real shame not to fully appreciate this gem, which deserves to shine in all its beauty. In short, it's a place I recommend to those seeking tranquility with family and children, good food, and unforgettable views, but with the understanding that some aspects of the property could and should be improved. Not recommended for romantic stays. Ad maiora.
