23/02/2026: We've been coming to Obereggen for skiing for 20 years. Unfortunately, the service at Platzl has declined over the past 3-4 years, but it was still acceptable because the food (especially the pizza) was good.
Apparently, it's now more profitable to have the waiters standing around in groups at the bar with cool lounge music playing until guests serve themselves, rather than actively engaging with the customers.
The food quality isn't what we used to be either.
In the future, we'll gladly go somewhere else in the area, but not to Platzl again. What a shame!

09/11/2025: Today we organized a birthday party at the McDonald's in the Bolzano Mall, and the experience was truly excellent. We received a warm welcome from the moment we arrived, and all the staff were helpful, attentive, and very kind to the children.
The party spaces were clean, well-organized, and perfect for entertaining the little ones in complete safety. The team handled every detail with professionalism, ensuring a peaceful and festive atmosphere. The service was also prompt and impeccable: the orders arrived on time and were all exactly as requested.
The children had a blast, and we adults felt supported at every step. It was a pleasant, stress-free experience that I definitely recommend.
A heartfelt thank you to all the staff at the McDonald's Mall Bolzano for making this day special.
15/10/2025: Very often, the best coupons from the McDonald's app aren't accepted at this branch. It's a disgrace!
Plus, a Big Tasty costs €9 in South Tyrol and only €6.90 in Trento! What's the point?

21/08/2025: I'm sorry, but after trying the greasy pizza and burgers, I've also tried them at other places, and they agree they're not good. I hope they change and improve, but I won't be ordering anything from there again.

03/12/2025: There's little to say: low quality and high prices, and we're not talking about a succulent meal. Luckily, we contented ourselves with a simple, poorly made barley soup (boiled water) and a pizza.

06/03/2026: Not recommended. The staff ignored us or simply didn't want to work. On a Sunday afternoon in early March, only a few tables were occupied at the thermal baths square, yet it was impossible to order anything. We moved on after 15 minutes.
Luckily, there are plenty of alternatives in Merano.
02/01/2026: On New Year's Day, we had lunch at the bistro: the table staff were attentive and very kind, and gave us great advice. We sat facing the functional kitchen area, where we watched the fantastic, friendly chef at work, so precise and fast.
The atmosphere was very pleasant, and the staff was attentive (despite the looming holiday).

29/09/2025: You can order with the app, which is very quick. Good value for money. Some dishes, like the nuggets, are very poor quality.
Business lunches sometimes take a very long time to pay at the cash register.
28/09/2025: My Wiener schnitzel was passable, but extra small. The potato salad was of rather poor quality; it was probably a ready-made product from a large container. I found my food far too expensive for the quantity and quality. Compared to the past, the restaurant has significantly deteriorated in both price and quality.

03/03/2026: Very bad! The order board didn't work and the staff just shouted the order numbers in German so if you don't know German you're in trouble. The food was classic McDonald's. But the toilet code couldn't be found at all because it said that there was a code on the receipt which we found and when we wrote it down it didn't work. And the atmosphere? Bad! Schoolchildren alone who are noisier than 2 stadiums.
22/02/2026: All burger packages are additionally sealed, which is a nice touch, although I liked the Filet-O-Fish Deluxe less than the standard version 🍔 The Tasty Basket set turned out to be really tasty, especially the spicy chicken wings 🍗 Good coffee: cappuccino and espresso macchiato ☕️ Delicious McPops pastries 😋 It's a shame that the top floor of the establishment was closed to visitors, I think there should be a great view of the city and the surrounding mountains from there 👀

05/03/2026: Ok, it's an imbiss... but in my opinion the prices are too high for what they offer... I had a kebab and to be honest... it was half empty... the fries were pretty good but I paid 15 euros with a bottle of still water... a colleague had a currywurst for 7.50 euros which was really cheap...! The cashier and waitress were kind.

The menu is simple and clear. I recommend it for a quick lunch. The staff is also very friendly.

11/10/2025: In the valley, you're informed that the alpine hut should be open and serving food. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case. They don't take opening hours very seriously here. It's a shame. Was it better other times? Perhaps a different operator?

12/01/2026: Terrible, cold, unwelcoming place, strong smell of garlic even though the place was almost empty at the time.
I ordered a slice of Linzer cake and a mulled wine, as per the menu, but neither was available.
I settled for a hot chocolate (nothing special), only because my companion was reluctant to leave without anything... Too bad, sometimes you have to have the nerve to leave at first impression.

Honestly, this was one of the worst coffee experiences I’ve ever had — and that’s saying something in Italy, where good coffee is supposed to be everywhere. The espresso tasted burnt and sour at the same time, as if the machine hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. The cappuccino was just hot milk with a trace of bitter coffee, no texture, no aroma, nothing close to what you’d expect from an Italian bar.
The staff were incredibly rude and unprofessional — no greeting, no smile, and acted annoyed the whole time. When I asked politely if I could sit inside, the waiter just rolled his eyes and pointed somewhere without saying a word. It felt like I was disturbing them by simply being there.
The place itself looked tired and dirty, with sticky tables and cups that didn’t seem properly washed. I honestly don’t understand how this place is still open. There are so many great cafés around — do yourself a favor and walk a few minutes further to find literally anywhere else. This one is a complete disaster and an embarrassment to Italian coffee.
