13/07/2025: Nestled among the small, charming streets of Serre di Rapolano, whose ancient charm already enchants you, is the Hosteria del Benandante. The owner, Valentina, welcomes you with kindness and warmth, and you immediately feel welcome. Valentina doesn't just present the menu; she explains it to you, and with it, the dishes she prepares, which speak of a time-honored culinary tradition, local flavors, and forgotten recipes that are once again at the forefront. The menu is limited, and in my opinion, this isn't a flaw; on the contrary, it's the quality of the ingredients, the authentic flavors, and the meticulous preparation that take center stage. The portions are just right, sized to allow you to explore multiple options. You certainly won't leave hungry; on the contrary, you'll enjoy the experience, the time, the company, and the exceptional dishes. Trying the pappa al pomodoro and panzanella, or the pici with leeks and sausage, is a must. The turkey ossobuco is a true delight, and the "Chianti tuna" is a true gem of traditional cuisine. The desserts are also truly excellent. We hope to return soon to try the rest!

03/09/2025: The owner and staff are incredibly kind, and the entire menu is available gluten-free, including homemade bread and pasta, all hand-rolled by them. And it tastes amazing! The gluten-free pici all'aglione and the gluten-free tagliatelle are also amazing. Calling them gluten-free tagliatelle with tomato sauce is an understatement, because their tomato sauce is superb. Absolutely delicious. They made us feel pampered. Top wine! Thank you. We'll be back. Best regards, little Ginevra.

03/09/2025: Great local food, very friendly and knowledgeable staff. We had a wonderful time. Plus, compared to other restaurants in Montepulciano it’s slightly cheaper!

07/09/2025: I would avoid this restaurant because the owner overcharged us for one item we didn't have and was not on the waiter's bill and overcharged us on one of out entree's. If that wasn't bad enough after sitting at his desk asking us to pay in cash so he could avoid paying his income tax when I corrected him on the two overcharges he was upset. One of his employees said it was a mistake, which it wasn't, the owner then followed me out to the sidewalk where he started to berate me in Italian which he knew I didn't speak. I told his clientele in English, which almost all of them spoke what was really happening. The food was OK but my pasta was overcooked like we were at the Olive Garden rather than in the real Tuscany. There were many other places to choose from I I would avoid this boorish man who spends the whole night chatting us his customers.

10/09/2025: Just the place I was looking for to stop for lunch before the long ride back to Milan by motorcycle. A small kiosk with a myriad of options, all featuring local products and recipes, the kind that make your mouth water just reading the menu 😋. Lampredotto, tripe, tongue, porchetta, and liver served in sandwiches or kebabs or as main courses, along with a remarkable selection of pasta dishes. Given the journey ahead, I had to eat lightly and opted for a delicious fresh sausage and stracchino sandwich accompanied by a small beer for a total of €9.50. I've saved the address; I'll see you again when I'm back in the area 😊.

25/08/2025: We had dinner this evening with our children. The place is unique, the staff very kind and helpful. The food is exquisite, you can see they pay attention to the ingredients. Truly delicious...and the prices are super fair! A truly pleasant discovery.

24/08/2025: Eat it cooked to order.... We had two sandwiches with Chianina beef...which were extraordinary.....good good good.....if you go to Chianciano Terme come and stop here...because it's worth it.........

08/08/2025: If you are looking for authenticity with fresh and delicious products: LOOK NO FURTHER!!! Sandwiches with ingredients cut in front of you...nothing better. All of Italy gathered in this place. Our waiter kind and helpful. 👍👍👍

21/07/2025: The products here are great, high quality and worth trying, which earns this place an extra star. But the service was a letdown. We were just two people, and it felt like we weren’t worth the staff’s time. Before us, larger groups were getting enthusiastic recommendations, explanations, and genuinely warm service. When it was our turn, the atmosphere shifted completely. No suggestions, no effort, just a cold, dismissive interaction that made us feel unwelcome. If you’re not part of a big crowd or don't look snobby enough, don’t expect the same treatment.

28/08/2025: Cozy place, a little out of the way, friendly staff, especially the waitress, the pizza was ready very quickly and the herbs were delicious.

26/08/2025: I don't get teased with frills. I care about substance, and there's plenty of it here. We happened upon this gem of a square, far from the usual downtown hustle and bustle, and it was very pleasant. The waiters are smart and helpful, finding you a seat in no time. The food that comes out of the oven is delicious, thin and crispy, just right, with fresh ingredients that you can taste. No fancy gadgets or modern concoctions, just straight-up. And not only that, but everything else seems cheap, too. The bill was honest, and there was no cod at the end. We'll gladly return, because when you find a place like this, where you eat well and are in peace, you have to hold on to it.

31/08/2025: What a discovery! Small restaurant, but cozy both inside and on the terrace. And above all, so delicious! The recommendation in the Gambero Rosso Ristoranti guide was right: tradition and modern cuisine at its finest! More than worth the extra drive. And what's more, it's situated in a beautiful spot in the Chianto region.

27/08/2025: We stayed at Volpaia and went here for dinner on our first night. Amazing food and experience. Great Tuscan meal and very helpful and kind staff. Overall, fantastic meal and setting.

14/09/2025: Following a tasting, we had the opportunity to sample truly excellent wines and typical local products. The staff was friendly, young, and helpful. If you're visiting the historic center of Chianciano, I recommend stopping by for dinner, as the menu also includes pasta dishes.

10/09/2025: Located in the historic center, with indoor and outdoor seating. Graziano made the whole experience UNIQUE; he's a special person with an unparalleled kindness, who knows the product inside out and knows how to recommend it! I tried the spreadable lard, and as a lard lover, I was speechless. The capocollo and soup were delicious, and the quality and attention to detail were evident and top-notch. The wine was truly a plus, pairing everything perfectly. The cake made by Signora Giuliana was delicious, homemade, and unique!! I truly fell in love with this place and hope to return! If you're not sure what to choose, let Graziano, who knows a thing or two, advise you!

19/09/2025: 2 dishes per person…. Let me tell the ALL STORY I am writing to report a deeply disappointing and unacceptable experience at your restaurant. My companion and I were seated, ordered wine, beer, water and one dish. At no point during seating or when we placed our order were we informed that your establishment enforces a minimum of two dishes per person. The only notice of this rule appeared on a screen at the entrance an impractical and insufficient place for a policy that directly affects guests’ seating choices. After we added a second dish to our order, a staff member approached us in a brusque, confrontational manner and told us aloud and in front of other patrons that we had to leave the table. He dismissed us with the comment, “this isn’t a parking spot,” and then, as if to underline the humiliation, handed us a bench to finish our drinks away from the dining area. We had barely begun enjoying our beverages when we were publicly chastised and effectively ejected. This is not merely a complaint about an obscure policy, it is a complaint about the way the policy was enforced. Hospitality is built on transparency, courtesy, and respect. If you expect guests to meet a minimum consumption requirement, that expectation must be communicated clearly and courteously at the host station, on the menu, and/or by the staff when seating guests not behind a screen that few will read in full before choosing a table. Moreover, enforcement must be carried out professionally and discreetly. Public shaming and aggressive language are incompatible with any standard of decent service. I expect a formal apology and to be informed of the corrective actions you will take. If no satisfactory response is received, I will share this experience on review platforms to warn other potential customers about a practice that both lacks transparency and violates basic standards of hospitality!

31/08/2025: Came here for a friend’s wedding. Although the wedding was great the hotel experience was rather underwhelming. The rooms had mould and rust, the basic housekeeping wasn’t done so we were left without additional toilet paper and drinkable water. The price included breakfast but lunch menu was overpriced for the amount and quality of food. The drive there is also very turbulent and has a lot of turns so most of the guests mentioned feeling very nauseous.

22/08/2025: We stayed at this B&B the week before Ferragosto, after having moved our arrival dates twice due to personal issues, but Francesca proved to be incredibly helpful and kind. The view was beautiful, the silence was quiet, and the breakfast was spectacular, both sweet and savory. She was incredibly patient, even with my little girl, who was exploring everything. Highly recommended.
