Excellent location, beautiful establishment with character, warm staff, and we had the pleasure of chatting with "Bagoga," the establishment's founder and former fantino (a type of horseman) in the Palio di Siena for the Contrada de l'Aquila. The dining room is also richly decorated with trophies and old photos of the Palio; a very pleasant experience and excellent cuisine.

We chose this restaurant on our trip to Siena because we were craving some meat. We ordered the Ossobuco Sienese (the sauce was tomato-based and very juicy) and the rabbit (perhaps a bit too bony, but very tasty; we really liked the sauce). We ordered roasted potatoes and vegetables on the side (I wouldn't order them again). We went without a reservation, so we were able to get in quickly, but it got busy later. The service was very fast and friendly.

Here you'll find history (the chef was a former jockey at L'Oca), exquisite food, stellar service (you immediately feel at home), and also a lot of honesty (they gave us a very large and unexpected discount). Highly recommended!

Grotta Santa Caterina da Bagoga is a charming local restaurant with excellent, attentive yet relaxed service. After trying to get in without a reservation, which I couldn't manage, I finally booked and enjoyed a very good local meal. The simplicity, decor, and understated elegance are truly appreciated. Highly recommended.

We tried this restaurant thanks to a recommendation from the host where we were staying. The location is nice, and the price was reasonable for Siena. Short wait times and fast service. The Fiorentina steak, €7/100 grams, was good, although it was too cold inside, as if it had been quickly cooked on the outside and taken out of the refrigerator shortly beforehand. The price was fair, €80 for two side dishes, water, and a 1kg Fiorentina steak.

16/03/2026: On Saturday, March 14, 2026, I found myself celebrating my birthday alone for the first time in my life. After careful research, I decided, despite the fact that I dislike and have difficulty being alone, to book a table at this restaurant, hoping to at least treat myself to a pleasant moment. However, I never imagined that this experience would soon become, quite literally, a true gift. Starting with the location, enchanting and private enough to put, even if only for that brief moment, a brake on the incessant pace of the serious lives and thoughts of everyone present at the table. Moving on to Claudio, the kind, courteous, and honest facilitator of this unforgettable journey, who, from the moment I arrived, as he does with every guest, put me at ease, giving me the feeling of having known him forever but, above all, of having finally arrived in a safe space protected by him. Concluding with the dishes I had the privilege of listening to, observing, and tasting. I remember each of these distinct yet interconnected experiences being so enchanting that the further I went, the more difficult it was to express in words my pleasure and amazement, prompting me to simply and magically enjoy everything that was happening to me. I won't go into further detail; I'll attach a few photos of this enchanting journey, and I thank Claudio and the entire staff once again for this unforgettable gift, which wasn't just a birthday present, but also, and most importantly, a life gift.
15/03/2026: As always, it never disappoints. One of my favorite restaurants. Yesterday's dinner was also top-notch. Galactic risotto.
