I recommend the Pea Soup, which really brings out the natural flavor of the ingredients.
The Chianina Fillet (steak) and Truffle Tagliolini are also
fantastically delicious.

I am currently staying at La Bandita.
The accommodation is very clean and nice (though the sink felt a bit clogged),
but the restaurants are also excellent.
I was planning to travel all over Tuscany by rental car,
but I think I won't be able to leave Pienza... haha.
Restaurants in Pienza are generally of a higher standard than in Rome.
I don't know if it's the difference between tourist food businesses and local eateries, but
unlike Rome, every restaurant and dessert place I go to is a success.
Among them, La Bandita is the highlight👍
I said "Buono~ 👍" to the chef, and he happily gave me a high-five🙌 haha.
I'll be back tomorrow :)

The reason Italian steaks are exceptionally red: 'Chianina' cattle
'Chianina' is one of the world's largest and oldest cattle breeds, characterized by low fat (marbling) and firm muscle mass. Because it has low fat content, there are fewer white areas when grilled, revealing the meat's natural bright red proteins.
Although it may appear undercooked due to the low fat content, heat has often penetrated deep into the meat, making it actually more cooked than it looks.
Additionally, Italian chefs' 'medium' is closer to the Korean standard of 'medium rare.'
Since the meat is so thick (usually 4-5 cm), they prefer a cooking method where the outside is seared to lock in the juices while keeping the inside tender.

I ordered an omelet (cheese and onion) and it was delicious.

Beef Tartare: I didn't know ginger went this well with tartare! The chili tasted like gochujang, so it paired well. It was an antipasto (appetizer), but the portion was enormous—it felt like I could make two servings of tteokgalbi at home.
Bandita Burger: They stacked it high, making it great for taking photos, and it tasted great too👍 It was delicious with the Pecorino cheese.
* Pecorino Cheese: The milk of sheep (Pecora) raised on the grass and herbs of the 'Val d'Orcia' plains is infused with a distinctive fragrant flavor. Pecorino is made from this Pecorino milk.
Tagliatelle: Fresh and good with basil pesto.
Tartare of Chianina beef with sweet and sour wasabi, ginger, and chili.
"Bandita Burger" with melted pecorino cheese, grilled bun, and mayonnaise, topped with crispy guanciale, fried egg, and french fries.
Tagliatelle with basil pesto and Parmesan shavings.

Ossobuco Ravioli: Braised oxtail is inside the ravioli, and it is delicious. The foie gras is tasty and not fishy at all, though the portion isn't huge (it just looks small in comparison because the portions of other dishes are so large).
Lamb: Despite the appearance that makes you look like you're going to grab the leg and tear into it, it is delicious with no gamey smell.
Tiramisu: It was so good I ate it again lol.
Chocolate + Miso: A sweet and salty revolution created from a combination that seems impossible..! Be sure to try it⭐️

11/03/2026: Wonderful family run restaurant. Pappardelle with wild boar highly recommended. Home made pasta. Steak with porcini mushrooms also great. We came in the evening but next time will come at lunch so we can enjoy the amazing views during daylight.

22/10/2025: It is a small place which is like a bar and sandwich/small food place. We had their sandwiches and some drinks. The service was fast and the sandwiches were very good. I had the vegetarian caprese sandwich and it was quite good.

10/03/2026: We were just wondering through the city center and bumped onto this little gem. It's a very nice restaurant, traditional and quiet. I probably had one of the best 'Pici with ragu' and burrata' I've ever had. The waiter has been friendly and knowledgeable. I will definitely go back!

12/03/2026: I went to this restaurant with my boyfriend about a month ago and we had a great time. The pasta in particular was delicious and the service was attentive. Giuseppe waited on us, and he was super kind and helpful in accommodating our (my) requests. ♥️ I highly recommend it and will be back as soon as I pass through Florence.

14/03/2026: Those osterias you stumble upon by chance and that ultimately become a memorable address.
We went to Osteria e Vinaino Cicalone in Florence and it was a wonderful surprise. We hadn't booked, and from the outside it looked full, but we asked anyway, and within minutes they found us a table.
The place is small but very welcoming, with informal decor featuring signs brimming with irony and Florentine humor. Quality rock music plays in the background, giving the place character and creating a relaxed atmosphere.
The owner recommended the wine: a Cabernet from the Antinori winery. I must admit that I don't normally choose wines from this winery because I find them a bit too commercial, but this one turned out to be an excellent pairing with the meat.
We had a succulent, tender, and freshly flavored grass-fed Florentine steak, accompanied by a baked potato and gratinated endive with bread on top—very flavorful. To finish, a Sacher torte where the cocoa was the real star. We also tried the homemade cantucci, and honestly, they were among the best I've ever eaten.
The kind of osteria where you enter by chance... and leave already thinking about when you'll be back.
10/03/2026: Excellent dinner at this osteria. High-quality Florentine steak, very good desserts. The wait staff is courteous and discreet. We'll definitely be back to try the first courses and other dishes.

28/12/2025: Highly recommended! The staff is friendly, professional, and happy to chat with anyone. The food is excellent and reasonably priced, especially compared to other nearby restaurants. We had the spaghetti carbonara, the grilled chicken, and the veal loin: everything was delicious. The potatoes were exceptional. Shoutout to the guy I believe to be the manager, who welcomes customers and makes them feel at home. His voice, reminiscent of Giobbe Covatta, makes the conversation even more enjoyable. Thanks also to the young man who served us at the table, who was competent and very kind. Congratulations to everyone, and we hope to return soon!

14/03/2026: €3+ for adding buffalo mozzarella to a pizza is a bit high, but the staff was friendly and the food was good, even though the pizza had a lot of oil.
14/03/2026: We stopped for pizza here given its proximity to the Mandela Forum, especially after seeing the positive reviews.
We were warmly welcomed and ordered two pizzas and a covaccino with Nutella to follow. The dough was very good and easy to digest. The prices are fair, and the staff is friendly and helpful. We'll definitely revisit it if we're in the area in the future!

The hot chocolate is good, but the croissant alone is very sweet compared to French croissants. I would have preferred a plain croissant with pistachio cream. It gets a little cloying towards the end, but the pistachio cream is good!

05/04/2026: We had a lunch/aperitif here by chance. This deli offers local products and simple, traditional cuisine.
We shared a cheese and cured meat platter with a bottle of wine among seven of us. The products were top-quality and the staff were very friendly.
I recommend this place for a quick lunch because they also offer sandwiches/focaccias and crostoni.
We'll be back!
03/04/2026: The food was typical Tuscan, and it was my first time trying goat cheese; it was very flavorful and a great experience. The owner was incredibly friendly and even gave me a postcard with a picture of the shop.
