This restaurant is a gem in the small village of Montalcino.
My partner and I stayed two nights, and while looking for a place to eat, I discovered this little place, super welcoming and warm, so we went there both nights.
Antonio is super friendly, but above all helpful and professional.
Their food is a true culinary experience, authentic, typical Tuscan cuisine!
I recommend everyone to stop by this place, which, compared to others, maintains true traditions, but above all, the quality/price ratio is truly excellent!
I recommend booking because it's small and, being very good, fills up quickly!

A wonderful place with a special charm. Simply, functionally, and stylishly furnished with just a few tables, perfectly suited to the size of the space.
The service is simply fantastic. You feel very comfortable and welcome as a guest.
The food is delicious and inviting. The dessert is a work of art and absolutely scrumptious.
We'll definitely be back.

My second time at this restaurant… the first time I gave it 5/5, but this time I'm lowering my rating and changing my review… the service is still very good, and the atmosphere is still very peaceful… but the truffle ravioli have become bland and the filling tasteless… What a shame

This seems to be the quintessential Italian restaurant. Antonio is the front of the house and Roberta is the back. Restaurant seats 26 total and it is perfect.
Wine list was fantastic, featuring over 2 pages of just Brunellos, and reasonably priced. Menu had good variety, and customers seemed to be mostly locals.
Antonio took great care if everyone and never missed a beat. Food was spectacular. The Panna Cotta was a beautiful work of art. More visually inspiring than some of the paintings I've seen in galleries. Really. I felt bad to destroy it with my spoon. But as the saying goes, "you can't have your Panna Cotta and eat it too." Was delicious, of course.
Wanted to come back one more time, but sadly our only open night is Thursday, when they are closed (couldn't convince Antonio to open up for us -ha!)
Came back a year later and it's still completely awesome. Antonio takes excellent care of every customer and keeps everything going out front, while Roberta creates thorough deliciousness in the back. So consistently good!

Re di Macchia is exactly what you hope to find in a Tuscan hill town—an intimate, welcoming trattoria serving traditional dishes with real care.
We really enjoyed the atmosphere. The restaurant is small and cozy, and the hospitality makes the whole experience feel personal. We had a reservation at opening, and had a chance to meet the owner. He was so authentic, and caring, which absolutely came through in the meals.
We had 2 excellent meals. My wife had the mushroom lasagna, and it was excellent—rich, comforting, and clearly made with care. I went with the steak topped with Parmesan, which was perfectly cooked and incredibly tender, with just the right balance of flavor.
This restaurant is a must do for anyone wanting an authentic, high-quality Tuscan food in a welcoming setting.

Memorable meal in Montalcino at this family run restaurant.
Excellent service, cozy ambiance and nostalgic food that left us with a smile on our face.
We had the broccoli soufflé, eggplant parmigiana, steak, cannellini beans and tiramisu. Paired it all with a very delicious bottle of Brunello di Montalcino.
Lovely meal at a place worth returning to.
