12/05/2026: We attended two cooking classes there (cheese making and pastry). Absolutely wonderful hosts. Went out of their way to make you feel welcomed and at ease with the whole cooking process. Would highly recommend. Want to go back when their restaurant is open, they were just phenomenal!!

08/05/2026: Update: 4/19/26 We returned to participate in the pasticciotti and fruttoni course, which was another fun and rewarding experience. We started with coffee and a large selection of sweet/breakfast dishes from Salento before being taught the art of making the pastry and fillings for pasticciotto and fruttone. Even our humble creations tasted better than any that we had bought from pasticcerie, and we were given the remainder to take with us (which may or may not have been consumed as we drove around the beautiful countryside afterwards 😆). Thank you again to Greta and Luisa for another wonderful experience. If you are staying the Salento area, make the time to visit these wonderful ladies, eat declicious food, and learn cooking skills that you can continue to develop. 4/9/26 We were fortunate to participate in the raw cheese, ricotta and mozzarella class. Beginning with a warm and welcome entry, Greta and Luisa provide a fantastic experience. You will learn how to make three different types of cheeses starting with primosale, ricotta and then mozzarella. It is a very interesting and fun process to do. You're then invited to sit and relax while you're served an absolutely delicious feast for lunch which includes your own cheese creations. The food was fantastic. Greta also provided a tour of their beautiful masseria; their guest rooms, dining and relaxation areas, and the incredible jacuzzi and rooftop terraces. This was such a great experience that we have now signed up for their pasticciotto and fruttone course and can't wait to come back to spend more time with these wonderful people.

08/06/2026: A fishermen's inn... This is the rustic and traditional atmosphere of the Taverna del Porto. A seafood-focused menu, featuring unmissable raw fish dishes, best enjoyed upstairs with a sea view. The wine list is extensive, perhaps too influenced by other regional wines. The French sparkling wines are a good pairing for seafood. The tagliolini with fish tartare are fresh and tasty.

23/09/2025: A young and fantastic company! I highly recommend this bakery in Giurdignano. The reviews from those who tried it before me were true! The aromas and flavors of the earth, soft and flavorful focaccia (we regret not having ordered more!), rustici and soft brioches. The prices are very fair for the quality of the ingredients. The staff is friendly, helpful, and above all, smiling and welcoming! Thanks again for the tips on the way back 😊

11/06/2026: An excellent experience at the Best Western Plus Leone di Messapia. The room was spacious, well-designed, and very comfortable. The king-size bed deserves special mention: incredibly comfortable, perfect for a good night's sleep after a day exploring Lecce and the surrounding area. The bathroom was also spacious and functional, equipped with every amenity. I particularly appreciated the complimentary body lotion, a detail that's not always easy to find. The shower is also truly large and very comfortable. Breakfast offers a wide selection, suitable for all tastes, with well-presented, high-quality products. Finally, a special mention goes to the hotel staff, always kind, helpful, and ready to help with a smile. I would happily recommend this hotel to anyone seeking comfort, professionalism, and a pleasant stay in Lecce. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

15/05/2026: I'm sorry to say this was my most disappointing meal after a month in Italy. I had high hopes based on the reviews, but the food was below mediocre. I am a "foodie" and rarely leave food uneaten. But half of my meal went into the trashcan. I ordered two things, the first was meatballs in tomato sauce. They were supposedly made from beef and pork, but tasted like the mushy mystery meat on a McDonald's hamburger. Also, they weren't hot. I also ordered the plate of vegetables with burrata. The vegetables were cooked beyond recognition to the point they were soft and mushy. And one of them had a taste so bitter, I couldn't eat it. I do have to say, though, the ball of burrata in the center of the vegetable plate was good. Nothing else.

The people who work there make you feel truly welcome, which makes everything even more special. And the food… simply top-notch! Everything was very tasty, beautifully presented, and with that touch that makes you want to come back. Without a doubt, a place I recommend and want to return to soon. 03/05/2026: The food was good, but the staff greeted us with a grumpy expression when we asked for tea, which wasn't on the menu. The payment was even worse.

10/05/2026: After a while, greeted by a brisk lady (who served in her usual attire, stepping away from the register), we were placed in a large, welcoming, and clean room. A distinguished and kind gentleman with graying hair and glasses took our orders, explaining the details. So far, so good. The waiter arrived, polite, but... but... when he poured the wine into the glass, he spilled it... not done... OK. We waited an hour, I realized it was crowded, and finally we tasted what friends had been raving about... and here's the rub... the first course, orecchiette, tasted like the mass-produced ones, the sauce was a little... limp, but the flavor was more than decent. Ahhhh the pasta, like linguine with sea urchin sauce!!!!! Help..... they had disappeared, drowned in the oil... but maybe it was the sea urchin-flavored oil... we'll never know. I wanted to ask the cashier or at least tell them to say hello, maybe they were on vacation at the beach... the second course arrives... well, here we go again!! Excellent portion of mixed fried food, BUT... it wasn't good, it wasn't crispy, prepared in a hurry, perhaps not floured well??! Filthy, almost tasteless... there are much better options in less highly rated restaurants... basically, they had no flavor. I went to the cashier, not even asking how lunch went... I wanted to say something but was stopped... I definitely won't be returning easily, much to the delight of the managers. The customer must be "lulled" and not a guinea pig to be given anything, also because you can't make fun of a Salento native. Too bad, the great kindness of the maître (the gentleman with glasses) was not enough to not darken this day. Ah, this is NOT an accusatory criticism, but an opinion that serves as a suggestion to always be more....more!!!
