11/10/2025: A place that exudes history, walls filled with photos of famous customers and cuisine from various eras. Small but beautiful, with just the right amount of discretion, perhaps even accustomed to a clientele that isn't just casual tourists. So, expectations were high, and we got off to a slow start, especially since it was our fourth day dining in Palermo. A sfincione for four to share was very good, followed by four first courses: tortellini in broth, busiate pasta with pistachio and shrimp, paccheri with pork ragù, and ravioli with tomato sauce filled with eggplant and smoked scamorza. Everything was very good, although the ravioloni were the highlight for us. Having resolved our reservations, we ordered a mixed boiled meat with saffron potatoes, pleasant and delicate in flavor—good, in fact, very good. Good value for money. A restaurant worth trying if you come to Sicily.

09/10/2025: You might be told that in Sicily, especially in Palermo, the food is good everywhere. But at Casa del Brodo, the food is truly delicious. The menu offers excellent suggestions. The dishes have flavors that enrich the palate, such as the eggplant rolls or fried red mullet. The dessert was a delight. The wine list is simple but offers good choices. The price is reasonable. A restaurant to recommend. Reservations are recommended.

06/09/2025: Great museum, very nice place, excellent selection of Sicilian history - pottery, coins, stamps, huge library. You cannot just walk up and buy a ticket. There are guided tours at certain times of the day. They may list tour times somewhere but we couldn’t find them on line.

23/08/2025: As soon as we arrived, we wanted to linger, but in the end we gorged ourselves on the food: to start, they offered us a house appetizer, which was fried shrimp. Then we ordered the lobster Catalana, and my eyes lit up because it was the best I'd ever tasted, also because the onions had a very light flavor that perfected everything. Next up was the cheese-crusted fillet, which was incredibly tender and the cheese melted on top was an aphrodisiac. When a friend of mine received the octopus carbonara, he let me try it, and I had the idea of ​​taking one of the chefs home with me. At a certain point, the mupa tartare arrived. Then I had the citrus ice cream, and that was when I finally satisfied myself.

26/10/2025: The Pozzillo Tower, without its pistil, is a coastal defense tower that was part of Sicily's coastal tower system. It is located in the "Puzziddu" area, right at the highway junction for the Falcone e Borsellino Airport at Punta Raisi in the province of Palermo, within the municipality of Cinisi. It is state property and is easily accessible, with free access. Construction began in the first half of the 17th century, as it was not surveyed in 1578 by royal architect Tiburzio Spannocchi during his survey. Even at the time of Camillo Camilliani's survey in 1584, it still did not appear to have been built, despite his finding that the cove in front of it could accommodate 25 galleys: "there could fit 25 galleys." In 1625, the tower was not yet completed, although the records of the Deputation of the Kingdom of Sicily already listed its guardians and "torrari." Again from the records of the Deputation of the Kingdom of Sicily, in 1691 we learn that it had been entrusted to the Prince of Carini and that the garrison consisted of three men in total, including the artilleryman. From 1714 to 1717, the same records show that the armament consisted of: 1 bronze cannon with a wheeled carriage; 2 mortars; 6 arquebuses; 1 bronze culverin (known as a "masculo" or "mascolo"); 5 halberds; 28 cannonballs. In 1811, it is mentioned because its garrison was arrested for cowardice in the face of the enemy after failing to intervene to assist an American vessel attacked by pirates. The tower is mentioned in 1823 in the official cartography of the Bourbon army, but under the name of "torre nuova" (new tower). In 1867, it was included in the list of military structures to be decommissioned. It is currently unused and is in fair condition following restoration work beginning in 1970. It somewhat reflects the Camillian style. Today, an opening on the ground floor, located above the former cistern, leads to the first floor, which consists of three rectangular rooms. The largest, the one facing the land, is approximately 8 meters high on the longest side. The vault is barrel-vaulted, as is the custom, and approximately 5 meters high. A fireplace is located on the right wall, and a built-in cupboard on the left. The central wall contains a well that allowed water to be drawn from the cistern below. 19/09/2025: The best food in Sicily, and gluten-free! Delicious gluten-free appetizers, pasta, main courses, and desserts! The chef was friendly and the waiter was super polite, and the restaurant was exceptionally clean. You can see and taste the care and attention they put into the cooking and serving. And the icing on the cake was a truly excellent complimentary red wine on the house! Our vacation isn't over yet, but this might have been the highlight! Grazie mille!
