26/08/2026: I can only review the pici with wild boar ragù; I didn't want to go any further... the worst I've had in nine years of vacationing in Tuscany. Luckily, they made a mistake and didn't bring me XL ones. The pasta is edible, but nothing like the traditional pici with wild boar. To paraphrase a phrase by Checco Zalone, "you don't write Tuscan in vain." Thank you for the misattributed quote by Thomas Robert Dewar... from which I'll draw inspiration to complete my review, suggesting that readers also consult my past reviews of Tuscan restaurants, osterias, delis, bars, and grocery stores. There, I've tried traditional dishes and innovative ones, some far from my tastes. These have filled my memory of the flavors and memories of my travels in Tuscany. From these, I've taken some inspiration to include ingredients in the menus of the restaurants I've run for 36 years.

24/08/2026: Since we weren't very hungry, we just wanted a first course. We ordered the pici... good... Better the ones with truffle and mushrooms than the ones with wild boar ragù.... The portions weren't very generous, though, so we ordered a good second course (sausage and potatoes) and a side dish (spinach... a vegetable that didn't quite convince us)... In the end, we also ordered the watermelon sorbet... Top 😁

26/06/2026: A lovely and warm welcome; first, we received background information on winemaking and viewed the library containing all the wines produced. Afterwards, we tasted with treats and received information about the specific wines. We were staying nearby at an agriturismo, which made it even more enjoyable!

16/06/2026: Beautiful winery with a very unique cellar built into a hillside! The wine we ordered & had shipped to the US arrived securely packaged! Highly recommend doing a tasting and visiting their organic winery.

17/08/2026: I have no words to describe this restaurant. The waiter is the kindest person we've met in Italy, truly! The food was amazing; we tried the pasta cacio e pepe and the tagliata with rosemary. Incredible!!! Without a doubt, my favorite place in all of Tuscany! Thank you so much!!!

08/06/2026: After a day of trekking in Maremma, stopping at the La Speranza bar is like arriving at a mountain refuge after an EEA. The food and the staff's smiles are heartening.

27/04/2026: The "La Speranza" Deli Bar is located along Provincial Road 541. It's a strategic spot for a pleasant stop for those heading to the hills and nearby towns of Siena and Grosseto. This location offers a bar, deli, and sandwiches made to order, along with a good selection of wines. I enjoyed a good coffee and a cream croissant; both were delicious. The restrooms are clean and well-maintained, with all the necessary amenities. Ample outdoor parking is available, including a large, fine gravel area. Friendly and helpful staff. Good value for money.

06/08/2026: On our way back from Volterra, we stopped in Colle Val d'Elsa and looked for Gimmy Gio's restaurant. It was 10:00 PM, and the owner, Michele, was very kind. He immediately seated us and prepared two first courses and a Peposo, both excellent in quality and quantity. Compliments to the entire staff and Michele. We'll definitely be back with friends.

11/08/2026: Wonderful family run restaurant off the Main Street but well worth seeking out. The owner himself served us and the food was like his mother had cooked it, the recommended local wine was top with the dishes 👍

25/07/2026: Arrive in the Chiusi area of ​​Tuscany and have lunch before checking in. Surrounded by greenery, with both indoor and outdoor seating. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, and the traditional cuisine is much appreciated! If we have the opportunity, we'll return, perhaps for dinner! Highly recommended!

18/08/2026: We've been to this small but cozy restaurant several times, with kind and friendly staff. We think it offers the best charcuterie and cheese platters in the city. The cooked dishes are also tasty and well-prepared. Excellent value for money. Try it and believe it.

10/08/2026: Delicious food. Great prices. The pici pasta is definitely worth trying. The venison version is interesting, but the cacio e pepe is still better.
