22/02/2026: A small tavern in the heart of Modena. The architecture is stunning, and the service is good and friendly. We had the gnocco fritto with cured meat, which was excellent. The meat dishes, on the other hand, are nothing special, but the gratinated fennel is a feast for the palate. The mascarpone dessert and the selection of Trentino grappas are excellent.

02/04/2026: Tucked away upstairs in a building across from the market, this restaurant serves very authentic food of the region. We ordered the gramigna pasta, lasagne clasico, and pork shank (meat fell right off the bone, roasted potatoes were also excellent) and everything was really good. Very friendly service and delicious food, in a no nonsense restaurant, what more can you ask for. Recommend arriving a little earlier before the lunch time rush because it really fills up!

31/03/2026: This restaurant is definitely worth a visit. There's no reservation required; you just line up and wait your turn. Plenty of tables inside, fast and friendly service, and excellent home-cooked food.

16/03/2026: We returned to Erbavoglio to try the tasting menu (in December). We were disappointed because we expected to try "new" flavors, and instead of eight courses, two were practically the same (sautéed radicchio with two creams). We honestly hoped there wouldn't be tortellini. We did the tasting to try new dishes. The "crispy" spaghetti was rubbery and bland, tasted burnt, and was inedible. The other dishes were good, but for the price we paid (€230 for two), we certainly expected much better. I wouldn't recommend it.

16/02/2026: Experience below expectations We had lunch at Erbavoglio, choosing an 8-course tasting menu for Valentine's Day. During the service, there were obvious organizational issues. So much so that we ate the first two courses in 40 minutes, followed by a generous half-hour wait, and finally a relay race for the remaining courses. I should point out that the wait was caused by an error: our dish was served at the next table—a rice dish that, in the rush, was brought to us without even a minute's cooking time. The young woman who served us explained what had happened and apologized, which was appreciated. The young man who was serving tables with her, however, was arrogant and rude, barely presenting the dishes. Regarding the quality of the food, I should point out that the ingredients were well chosen, but not excellent, as the dishes seemed more assembled than conceived. In fairness, I'll also mention what we appreciated. The chard casket with fava bean tempeh and carrot béarnaise was excellent, the vegan chocolate was delicious, and the music playlist was fabulous. The price of €85 was fair, but considering that you can eat at even Michelin-starred restaurants for around €100, this might be a skippable experience.

19/02/2026: A small place near the historic center. Only ten flavors, but the gelato is delicious and truly artisanal. The friendly owner happily taught my six-year-old daughter how to eat a cone without getting dirty. Highly recommended!

06/03/2026: The best meals we had during this stay. The ladies were incredibly friendly and kind, always available for a chat. Especially the lady (who, from what I understand, is the daughter of the original owners), who also recommended where to buy good dairy products in the area. The food was truly impeccable: crescentine like I'd never tasted before, accompanied by spectacular cured meats, but above all, the PECORINO. The latter was divine, so much so that I had to ask where it came from to buy at least a couple of wheels. On top of that, I had the opportunity to try the passatelli with truffle (on my second visit), which, honestly, was the best dish I had during my entire stay. What can I say, it will be a must-try on my travels from now on!

08/03/2026: Had dinner with friends. Plenty of parking, the entrance to the restaurant is not very visible. The welcome was warm and welcoming, the atmosphere rustic and welcoming. The traditional menu offered a choice of meat and a fish option that I found very good. The bottle of wine at our table was served as a regular drink without the usual tasting, unlike the table next to us. I liked the flavor of the dishes. I did note that the pasta was perhaps a little undercooked, and a little more quantity wouldn't have bothered. The dessert was very good. Overall, the value for money was good. We'll be back.
