I had dinner at Erbavoglio to celebrate my anniversary with my partner, and it was a treat we can't wait to repeat!
Let's start with the restaurant. The atmosphere is relaxing, intimate, and warm, with soft lighting and music that accompanies conversation without overpowering it. The interior is truly distinctive and tastefully decorated, in a style that blends vintage and industrial with a modern twist. The service was impeccable from the moment we walked in the door and had our coats taken, to when we paid the bill and one of the owners stopped by for a chat and a (well-deserved) compliment!
Now let's move on to the menu. Don't be put off if it seems strange. Erbavoglio doesn't offer a traditional lunch or dinner, but a true tasting experience created specifically by the chef, based on seasonal produce. For this reason, you'll find unique descriptions of the dishes on the menu, and my advice is to trust the server's recommendations entirely. We trusted them and were completely satisfied! You can, however, request a variation of the dishes on your tasting menu (for example, I changed one dish to something different from another menu) and change your order while you're ordering if you'd like to add something. For those who love traditional dishes, more traditional dishes are also available, such as tortellini (vegetarian version) or passatelli. In other words, Erbavoglio satisfies every palate! Each course is designed to be a unique sensory experience, with sometimes completely new and incredible flavors! Needless to say, we hope to return soon to try the upcoming menu offerings!

The most delicious vegetarian food in Italy. Excellent wine.
Beautifully designed dishes, the place is stylish, with fun music for young people.
The manager of the place is an amazing and fun guy who spoiled us with 2 more dishes at his own expense.
In short, if you are in Modena, this is a restaurant you must book a place for

We returned to Erbavoglio to try the tasting menu (in December).
We were disappointed because we expected to try "new" flavors, and instead of eight courses, two were practically the same (sautéed radicchio with two creams). We honestly hoped there wouldn't be tortellini. We did the tasting to try new dishes. The "crispy" spaghetti was rubbery and bland, tasted burnt, and was inedible. The other dishes were good, but for the price we paid (€230 for two), we certainly expected much better.
I wouldn't recommend it.

Experience below expectations
We had lunch at Erbavoglio, choosing an 8-course tasting menu for Valentine's Day.
During the service, there were obvious organizational issues. So much so that we ate the first two courses in 40 minutes, followed by a generous half-hour wait, and finally a relay race for the remaining courses. I should point out that the wait was caused by an error: our dish was served at the next table—a rice dish that, in the rush, was brought to us without even a minute's cooking time. The young woman who served us explained what had happened and apologized, which was appreciated. The young man who was serving tables with her, however, was arrogant and rude, barely presenting the dishes. Regarding the quality of the food, I should point out that the ingredients were well chosen, but not excellent, as the dishes seemed more assembled than conceived.
In fairness, I'll also mention what we appreciated. The chard casket with fava bean tempeh and carrot béarnaise was excellent, the vegan chocolate was delicious, and the music playlist was fabulous.
The price of €85 was fair, but considering that you can eat at even Michelin-starred restaurants for around €100, this might be a skippable experience.

Last Sunday, I had lunch at Erbavoglio with a friend, opting for the "Discovery" tasting menu with the addition of tortellini. The place is small and cozy, with a cozy atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease, despite the background noise created by the music (just right, not too intrusive).
The service was attentive, thoughtful, and always available, without being intrusive. The menu has just been updated—fresh, with attention to detail, and featuring truly delicious quality ingredients. The dishes are refined, creative, and carefully presented, a sign that the staff truly cares.
Some flavors could still be refined to achieve the perfect balance, but overall, it was a pleasant and memorable experience. Recommended for a special lunch for two!
