22/08/2024: Nice little place and really good pizzas. The staff is attentive and kind.

18/08/2024: We went to dinner here recently after arriving in Palermo, we had the hotel next door and the positive reviews convinced us. The waiter who served us was very friendly and explained and advised us to choose the food and offered us to try a local wine. The surprise came when paying. They charged us for a water that we hadn't asked for, the glasses of wine were multiplied by 2 and he charged us for the bottle of wine that he never left on the table, served us and took it away. After explaining the error to him, he changed it for us, but he was a bit angry. A shame because the food was good and so was the attention, but we left with the impression that they wanted to screw us for being tourists.

17/08/2024: Great spot to stop along the busy street. Perfect for a drink and some food and a little people watching. The prices are good, the food is good and so are the drinks. The staff are friendly and great so stop in for bit while you are walking the city. You will not retreat it!

15/08/2024: I couldn’t rate Maqueda Bistrot any higher! This was my 3rd time in Sicily with my family. Going in the middle of summer, roaming around the streets of Palermo, you could imagine how much we were looking forward to a spot to just sit down and relax. This place was the spot! I first wanted to point out, we had sat down twice already in a couple of places a Ballaro, sweaty and uncomfortable we left. We then we’re on the hunt for something fast and some shade, amongst all the restaurants along that main strip, inviting us in, the team at Maqueda Bistro caught our eye with a beautiful fresh drink awaiting us from the bar window. They did not ask us to sit down, which enticed my husband and child even more. We had beautiful fresh bread with our caponata, bruschetta with pomodori, octopus and potato salad, clam and mussels pasta and a pistachio gamberi pasta finishing with a beautiful shot of limoncello. They had aircon inside, which made it even more enjoyable, however the service of the staff, the atmosphere and the food was top shelf amazing. My husband is Italian (Sicilian) and quoted this was one of the best pasta dishes he’s had. I couldn’t recommend this place enough! It is the best, please check it out.

04/08/2024: Ieri, sabato 3 agosto io e il mio fidanzato ci siamo recati al San Lorenzo mercato cercando qualcosa di buono da mangiare e ci siamo imbattuti i Baarìa, un ristorantino molto carino e accogliente, inutile parlare della bellezza del locale che è soggettiva, mi soffermerei invece sulla qualità e la bontà dei piatti nonché delle materie prime. Patate fritte artigianali con la buccia STREPITOSE, un piatto davvero abbondante finito nonostante tutto perché davvero squisito, le pizze erano ciò che io personalmente intendo come una pizza a regola d’arte, impasto leggero, bordo morbidissimo e alto, umida ma che non si scomponeva neanche tagliandola, pomodoro con un altissimo retrogusto di basilico, insomma.. LA PIZZA, personale super simpatico e alla mano, ci siamo sentiti davvero bene e cosa super importante le materie prime sono state davvero di qualità tanto che non abbiamo avuto nessun problema anche durante la notte. Torneremo sicuramente ma stavolta lo faremo provare sicuramente ai nostri amici! Concludo condividendo quanto abbiamo speso per: 1 antipasto di patate fritte artigianali, 2 pizze, 2 bibite, acqua e coperto, 36€ che nel contesto di un “mercato” con musica dal vivo, e viste le materie prime direi che ci sta alla grande!

16/08/2024: Beautiful excellent bar service They also sell scratch cards and cigarettes They stay open all night AMAZING the bald guy behind the counter even made us play an incredible song Then there is the waitress called Kiara (the short one with the rose tattoo) really very kind and cute hands down the best who works here The only flaw...there is no Sergio (the waiter who works at the jo mà restaurant) Another flaw...I asked this famous and cute Kiara to go out but she only has work in mind which is the most important thing for her (if you want to go out remember me Sam)

21/07/2024: Terrible environment, everything dirty and customers and staff smoking inside. It's a shame to present such a place to tourists. Never again. The table was cold and tasteless. The rice salad wasn't bad but eating it with the waitress smoking next door wasn't pleasant. Not recommended

13/08/2024: The manager must learn how to manage his frustration rather than objecting to customers. Luckily we are very tolerant and don't like to get into arguments. But if the customer says he has been waiting for 1 hour rather than dispute it, you can respond kindly, especially if it is a woman doing it. I only observed that in fact we had been waiting for 1 hour and 10 minutes. Rather than argue with the manager I prefer not to return. Too bad because I've known the place since I was a boy. I give 3 stars because the waiter was friendly unlike the manager.

06/07/2024: We went on a pizza tour. Well, the location could be defined as welcoming. The food, good. The environment seems a little risky, in the sense that we are on a sidewalk, closed for this purpose, but conditioned by the little space available. The service leaves a little to be desired in the sense that we were a table of 14 people and the pizzas arrived 3 at a time and this was slow and forced us to take unwanted breaks.

25/08/2024: I read with deep amazement some negative reviews. I had dinner last night and I think there are very few places with such attention to detail. Sublime quality both in terms of fresh fish and meat, excellent pizza, excellent service, not to mention the ownership that makes the difference. I would like to underline that the prices are below average as I had a terrible experience in another place paying 40.00 for a white and black. I say with extreme frankness that When I want quality and above all hospitality I believe Torre Alta is it the best choice.

04/08/2024: Excellent starters, dry fried, impeccably cooked. Excellent pizzas, cooked in a wood oven with excellent products. Welcoming staff. A leap into the past, in full 80s/90s style. Overall experience, excellent. Just a note on the air conditioning, which could be improved.

24/05/2024: I'm giving 1 star because the pizza is good, it's everything else that's wrong, the domiciles don't even deserve 1 star, the delay on Saturday is there and the teasing is annoying, you give me a time and you can go over 30 minutes and yes he understands that it's Saturday but no 90 minutes late and the worst thing is that we get 2 Margherites 1 gluten-free 1 normal and they don't even put a sign, I'm really sorry but I prefer to change since it's the fourth time

12/08/2024: Very nice, well-kept environment. Good food but I recommend not taking away fried food put in a bag, the croquettes were crushed on the bottom... I recommend always paying attention to vacating the outside tables as soon as possible to give a sense of cleanliness and the desire to sit down and eat on the spot

17/07/2024: given that we were in a hurry and went to a random chip shop. We went to this one and got a tray of panelle and croquettes plus a meat arancini. The first two dishes mentioned were more than decent and had a good flavour, I'm sorry about the arancina but I have to draw a veil of pity, the color of the breading was very pale and pale, the filling tasted only and exclusively of carrot, I don't want to exaggerate but the taste was very similar to that of findus vegetable sticks, I hope it was just an exceptional case.
