02/07/2026: We had dinner at this restaurant a few days ago. Everything was very good; their bread meatballs with tomato sauce were divine! The staff was super helpful and friendly.

01/07/2026: Best food and best value we had in our month-tour around Italy: fresh, home-made but also elaborated food, nicely integrating herbs and nuts. Food was between nonna's cooking and a Michelin-starred restaurant. A must-try, plate-licking and finger-licking good food.

05/07/2026: I've been in Matera for 2 weeks now and this restaurant amongst another I've reviewed with top marks has been a highlight. I had the Sausage Ragu Orecchiette to start with then the Cod and finished with a Tiramisu along with a sweet, crisp glass of white. All were absolutely delicious and faultless. The cod especially was cooked to perfection. The service was very friendly and professional. Treat yourself, you won't be disappointed. I'll be back next time I'm in Matera. Thank you BOH & FOH team and thank you to Ilenia at Locanda San Martino for the recommendation. My stay in Matera has finished on a memorable high😘

10/06/2026: I can't share it yet, I wrote for these reasons, I've been calling at various hours for 3 days to book, no one answers, I sent an email and on the website, in contacts 4 reservations no response, I would like to publish a review of satisfaction, but it seems like an unreachable restaurant!!!!

16/05/2026: This restaurant, somewhat removed from the hustle and bustle of Matera's center, is housed in a beautiful, light-filled room with exposed stone walls. But the real highlight is the food. Each dish is prepared with quality ingredients, slowly simmered to concentrate maximum flavor. Add to that a warm welcome from the owner, who speaks French, and a jazzy playlist, and you have a wonderful way to appreciate the magic of Matera. And don't forget the tiramisu, with its homemade sponge cake, prepared fresh to order for a delightful, sweet, but not overly sweet, ending.

11/05/2026: Everything was very good, even the service. The space is divided into two L-shaped rooms; the larger one is crowded, while the other is significantly better, except for the table near the internal door, which definitely needs to be eliminated. A bit overpriced, especially for wine: a glass costs €10-15...

10/05/2026: We came from Mexico, arriving in Matera hungry and without a reservation (many places in Italy require one). We went in here and it was fantastic. Even though I come from the American continent where we eat a lot of meat, I can assure you that I ate the best meat of my life at this restaurant—so much so that I ordered seconds!

10/07/2026: La Lopa was a lovely surprise! The waiter, Adriano, was very knowledgeable and he very kindly assisted us throughout the night. The local wine pairing he recommended was excellent too (Spaccasassi 2022). The peppers were DIVINE. Baccala fritto was perfectly fried without it feeling too oily or heavy. Both dishes of pasta we ordered were excellent and I also have to mention their olive oil; highest possible quality! Last but not least - their tiramisu was one of the best we ever had! We usually do not order it unless it is recommended, as many restaurants rarely get it right. But, since we were in Southern Italy where they rarely get things wrong, I was inclined to order it. Both my partner and I fell in love and ordered a second one!

10/07/2026: Delicious restaurant! An unforgettable discovery! Authentic, traditional dishes, executed to perfection. Ask for Paolo; he'll tell you all about the traditional dishes and wine with passion! The owner is also very welcoming... We'll definitely be back soon! Highly recommended!

28/06/2026: Gusti Lucani was a lovely discovery. A simple and welcoming place, where you eat well and feel at home. Authentic dishes, authentic Basilicata flavors, and attentive service. Everything is carefully prepared without exaggeration, with plenty of substance and friendliness. We had a wonderful time and would happily recommend it. A restaurant we'll gladly return to.

24/04/2026: Francesco our main waiter was fabulous 😍. The degustation and wine pairing was sublime. It's very rare I give a 5 out of 5 for food but this place was stunning. I only gave 3 out of 5 for the atmosphere because there were not many people in the restaurant when we dined and the decor had a conflict of personality. I would have like to have seen more classic Italian decor to suit the 16th century dwelling. But please do go, it's amazing 🤩

04/05/2026: My husband, our two children, and I dined at this restaurant last night after a busy day spent walking among the Sassi of Matera. We were greeted by kind and attentive staff, with prompt service. The pizza was excellent, the fries were special, and the "sausage of the beggar" was delicious. My husband and I ordered it first, followed by a portion of Van Gogh bruschetta—exceptional! The owner, Bartolomeo, was exceptionally kind, making us feel at home and pampered. Before leaving, I confided in him about my passion for Vincent Van Gogh. He accompanied me into the dining room, which, surprisingly, was decorated with wonderful reproductions of Van Gogh's paintings. He proudly told me about them and showed me the wines, which bear artistic labels. What more can I say?! Between the deliciousness of the dishes, the beauty of the setting, and the owner's extraordinary kindness, it was an experience that left us with a wonderful feeling of well-being! If we ever return to Matera, we'll definitely eat here, with the pleasure of greeting Bartolomeo and savoring more of his delicacies!!!! Ps: fair prices and generous portions.

01/05/2026: I recently visited this restaurant and had a truly enjoyable experience. The pizza was excellent: light, well-leavened dough, and fresh, flavorful ingredients. You could really taste the quality, whether it was the simple Margherita or the more elaborate pizzas. Besides the food, what made the evening special was the staff. Everyone was very kind, helpful, and welcoming, always smiling and ready to offer advice without being intrusive.
