17/12/2025: Today I had lunch at this lovely, clean restaurant. Excellent food and generous portions. I returned after a year and the experience was once again pleasant. The broad beans with chicory and the millefeuille are highly recommended.

01/04/2026: My wife and son and I were in the beautiful city of Matera last week, and right below our B&B, we decided, at the recommendation of many locals, to try this excellent restaurant. We started with the traditional peperoni cruschi, then moved on to the excellent orecchiette with mushrooms and sausage and a traditional soup. But the real masterpiece was the dish that gives the restaurant its name: the Pignata. A pan covered in oven-baked bread containing tender and delicious sheep cooked for 18 hours with potatoes and carrots. We finished with a delicious, crunchy and bitter dessert. 11/03/2026: While on vacation with friends, we asked for this restaurant's recommendation, and it was an exceptional experience! Dishes from the Matera cuisine, including the Taccardi family's famous pasta, amazed us with its consistency and intensity! Knowledgeable staff and excellent hospitality. I highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates the quality of Made in Italy products. Excellent value for money. I hope to have the opportunity to return.

28/02/2026: I went to this restaurant with friends. The owner is a wonderful person, and we had a wonderful meal. The appetizers were sublime, especially the pumpkin pie and bread meatballs. The first courses were excellent. Highly recommended.

05/01/2026: Extremely tasty place! Definitely the most delicious place in Matera! The quality /quantitiy ratio is absolutely perfect. The sandwiches are huge - keep this in mind if you are not very hungry and consider splitting it with someone as it would be a crime to throw even the leftovers of this food. You can tell that every ingredient is traditional and fresh. Combine the sandwich with a glass of Prosecco and you have “Heaven!”! The service is perfect, too! ❤️ The place is definitely worth visiting! 😊

25/10/2025: Bakery with a wide selection of products. Prices tend to be on the higher side, but I assure you, the high-quality and delicious products are worth it. And a tip for everyone: don't look at the prices, but rather the quality.

08/03/2026: Looking for a small restaurant for lunch, we let our intuition guide us, and we wandered into this very tidy place, where we were welcomed even though it was already 2:45 PM! The dishes more than met our expectations, starting with the authentic, excellent-quality mixed antipasto, the creamy, intensely flavorful tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms and truffles, and the dessert, absolutely sophisticated and explosive! Panna cotta garnished with caramelized crusco peppers and orange oil! A truly delightful culinary experience! Highly recommended!

08/03/2026: We stopped by this restaurant almost by accident while walking around. They catcherd us at spaghetti carbonara for the kids. It turned out to be a fantastic choice! The food was excellent, the staff incredibly friendly, and we were warmly taken care of by the owner, the waiter, and even the chef. It was a wonderful experience overall — we truly enjoyed the visit and would definitely recommend this place.

05/01/2026: Excellent bakery in Matera, also open on Sundays. Very welcoming staff and delicious products. We tried the bread and the "scorsette materane" (a real treat, especially the orange one). Highly recommended!

29/03/2026: We stumbled upon this hidden but beautiful place after a stroll through the Sassi. We were greeted with a warmth and kindness we've rarely experienced. As soon as we sat down, we ate bread and lentils with cruschi peppers. Delicious. The cheese platter was spectacular (highly praised by my partner, a cheese taster), gnocchi with peppers, ricotta, and almonds. All this while sitting in the sun, with an atmosphere that made two hours pass like they were 10 minutes. The staff was friendly, to say the least. And the prices deserve a special mention: fair and commensurate with the quality and location. If you stop by, you won't regret it.

The ingredients are the foundation, enhanced with variations, without distorting the flavor, but making it more captivating and balanced. 12/01/2026: I went for lunch and it was a truly special experience. The restaurant is charming, carved into the Sasso, and exudes a unique historical atmosphere. There's also an ancient olive oil mill inside, almost like visiting a museum, which makes it all the more fascinating. We ate grilled meat, which was simply delicious: perfectly cooked and excellent quality. The food overall was exceptional. The staff deserves a special mention: very kind, welcoming, and always available. An experience I highly recommend to anyone visiting Matera.

05/01/2026: I used to come to this restaurant every two years or so. I've always considered it a tourist hotspot, but it's a good compromise. Unfortunately, today I was only able to observe inside (due to the lack of price display outside) that the menu has undergone an excessive price increase; there's no entree under €14. I find the menu priced for an empty plate for €1 unfortunate. I had a brief discussion with the manager or owner about the matter. She politely explained the reasons for the price increases. We realized we had different views, and I changed locations where I could enjoy a similarly high-quality meal at a lower price, along with a high-end restaurant setting. From my limited experience in the industry, I would recommend adjusting the offerings to meet demand to best market the excellent cuisine this restaurant offers.

08/03/2026: We had dinner two evenings when we go down to Grottole, a regular stop at this restaurant, the pizza is excellent, I recommend it to anyone passing by.
