08/09/2025: Our dinner at "Osteria Belvedere al Vecchio Frantoio" was perfect: a unique, welcoming, and romantic atmosphere in the outdoor courtyard. The cuisine is extraordinary: every dish is prepared with fresh, quality ingredients. We loved the Tagliere Murgiano, a selection of cured meats and aged local cheeses with burrata, the lamb rolls, the pezzente sausage, and the potatoes sautéed with Murgia herbs. The panemisu and the Anniversary Edition Lucano liqueur were excellent, perfect for a perfect finish. The service is attentive and friendly: the entire staff makes you feel truly at home and offers expert advice, including the excellent glasses of wine. I highly recommend this osteria to anyone who wants to experience authentic Matera cuisine in an authentic and welcoming atmosphere. Thank you

07/09/2025: My experience at this fabulous osteria was five-star! I had dinner on their terrace, in the heart of the Sassi di Matera. It's a truly magical and peaceful place in a charming, historic neighborhood. Inside, there's a large dining room converted from an old olive oil mill, restored and revitalized. The fireplace in the winter is a must-try! The menu is varied and features typical local products, offering a good selection of appetizers, first courses, second courses, and side dishes. We had a cheese platter, homemade pasta with grass pea and mushroom puree, meatballs in tomato sauce and baked potatoes, and a bottle of Aglianico wine. Excellent value. The hospitality and service from the family who runs the osteria are truly top-notch, with their friendliness, preparation, attention to detail, and passion! The wine list is truly excellent; let the staff recommend a selection. I'll be back soon, as it's on my list of favorite places in my city.

04/09/2025: A restaurant not far from Matera's Duomo, with a varied menu and reasonable prices. Everything was very good and the service was impeccable and friendly. The waiters are really friendly and it was a pleasure to have lunch at this restaurant.

26/07/2025: The restaurant is located on one of the main streets in the lower part of the Sassi di Matera. Inside, the architecture is unique, the restaurant is tastefully furnished, and the staff are very courteous and friendly, all in a truly authentic atmosphere. The menu, in my opinion, can be overwhelming: although all the dishes obviously draw on traditional elements, the pairings really pique your curiosity and appetite, so you'll want to try everything! The wine list is simple and quite refined, with the option of drinking local wines from both well-known and lesser-known producers at very reasonable markups. The owner is a true host, although he told us he stumbled upon this adventure somewhat by chance. He speaks several languages, is knowledgeable, attentive, and never intrusive. The other staff in the dining room were also excellent, and of course the chef and his team. We spent a wonderful family evening at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend it, especially because the restaurant manages to stand out from all the others around it, and there are many!

25/07/2025: Locale caratteristico del centro, scavato nella roccia, personale molto gentile e professionale ... il menù presenta i piatti tipici della tradizione lucana con una buona attenzione alla presentazione degli stessi, degni di nota gli strascinati al peperone crusco con crema di ricotta e pomodoro, così come il crostino stracciatella acciughe e peperone crusco, buona anche la tagliata rucola e grana cotta alla brace... conto giusto, consigliato!

14/08/2025: I recommend trying the focaccia materana with stracciatella. They also serve food at unconventional times; we had lunch here around 4 pm without any problems. Overall, everything was delicious; I highly recommend coming here.

15/07/2025: The real star of the restaurant, in my opinion, is the manager: Donato. Knowledgeable, kind, sociable, fun, and never intrusive. Tasty, complex, and well-crafted dishes. Fast and accurate service. The only negative: in my opinion, the prices are above average (compared to 1-star restaurants), undoubtedly due to the cost of the location—which, however, is certainly very beautiful and evocative.

09/07/2025: Outstanding. Our dinner here was the cherry on the Materna trip cake. Not for nothing is this a Michelin star restaurant. Very nicely located in the Sassi district in one of the caves. We had the 8 course full menu which was exceptionally good. Nicely curated dishes of huge variation, always referring to the South Italian heritage and Materna. The staff is super kind and creates a welcoming atmosphere. Huge wine menu and good recommendations. A very memorable experience from the starters to the dessert (try the Monte Crusko!)

12/08/2025: We decided to stop there on our road trip to have lunch. Arriving in front, we thought for a moment “what place did we end up to??” Because of work on the facade but we still gave it a try and entered the place which somehow looks like a house and a bit old fashioned. And then, what a surprise! Food was delicious, staff very friendly, helpful, fair price and very good experience. Basically, if you are looking for fresh, local and quality food, stop by without hesitating!

05/08/2025: This review is exclusively for the della monaca, but that's enough to deserve 5 stars. The lightest Chantilly cream enhances the slightly moist dough, while the more intense pastry cream blends perfectly. Definitely among the best I've tasted in all of Lucania (and the surrounding area). Courtesy and an elegant atmosphere complement a delightful experience here in Matera.
