15/02/2026: It's the restaurant owned by the owners of our accommodation in Maestri.
We only had two appetizers because we have to travel back up north.
But the quality of both dishes was exceptional.
Not to mention the menu, which is simply heavenly, and which we hope to have other opportunities to try.

Elegant restaurant with average prices.
14/04/2026: An excellent restaurant in Matera's old town. We were seated upstairs in a charming, large vaulted room.
Both the appetizers and our main courses were delicious—the only slight drawback was that one of the dishes was far too salty. Superb Italian wine list.
Highly recommended.

08/04/2026: We dined at Soul Kitchen Matera as a couple and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
The atmosphere is stylish yet relaxed – ideal for a cozy dinner for two. The service was very friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was pleasant without being intrusive.
The food was of outstanding quality: fresh, creative, and perfectly balanced in flavor. You can tell that the chefs cook with passion. We were particularly impressed by the beautiful presentation and the harmonious aromas.
The price-performance ratio is also excellent.
We would gladly return and wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant.

11/04/2026: We had dinner there in April 2026. Excellent food, very friendly service. I enjoyed seeing both tourists and locals. Reasonable prices. Highly recommended.
09/04/2026: They took us quite late (2:30 pm) and for a restaurant chosen on the spur of the moment, it was very tasty, with many specialties on the menu including the famous lamb pie!
I recommend it.

01/04/2026: My wife and son and I were in the beautiful city of Matera last week, and right below our B&B, we decided, at the recommendation of many locals, to try this excellent restaurant.
We started with the traditional peperoni cruschi, then moved on to the excellent orecchiette with mushrooms and sausage and a traditional soup.
But the real masterpiece was the dish that gives the restaurant its name: the Pignata.
A pan covered in oven-baked bread containing tender and delicious sheep cooked for 18 hours with potatoes and carrots.
We finished with a delicious, crunchy and bitter dessert.

The welcome is what makes the difference: they immediately made us feel at home with samples of fritters and a typical Lucanian soup, a generous gesture steeped in tradition.
A genuine place, where you can breathe the true spirit of the South. Highly recommended and definitely worth returning to!

29/03/2026: We stumbled upon this hidden but beautiful place after a stroll through the Sassi. We were greeted with a warmth and kindness we've rarely experienced.
As soon as we sat down, we ate bread and lentils with cruschi peppers. Delicious.
The cheese platter was spectacular (highly praised by my partner, a cheese taster), gnocchi with peppers, ricotta, and almonds. All this while sitting in the sun, with an atmosphere that made two hours pass like they were 10 minutes.
The staff was friendly, to say the least.
And the prices deserve a special mention: fair and commensurate with the quality and location.
If you stop by, you won't regret it.

08/04/2026: We had lunch there with an 11-month-old baby. They were extremely kind, thoughtful, and patient with us, as our child is not easy.
The food was excellent from the olive oil and bread to the starters, main dishes, wine, and desserts, everything was of top quality.
I have been to 11 regions of Italy, and this is one that will stay in my memory. I would definitely recommend dining here.
They also have a small cinema at the bottom of the cave, which is a very cool experience.
Thank you to Andrea and his new colleague for the excellent service.

05/01/2026: Extremely tasty place! Definitely the most delicious place in Matera! The quality /quantitiy ratio is absolutely perfect.
The sandwiches are huge - keep this in mind if you are not very hungry and consider splitting it with someone as it would be a crime to throw even the leftovers of this food. You can tell that every ingredient is traditional and fresh. Combine the sandwich with a glass of Prosecco and you have “Heaven!”!
The service is perfect, too! ❤️
