Intrigued by their menu, we decided to try this restaurant and were pleasantly surprised. The experience was truly positive in every way: the staff was extremely kind, helpful, and attentive, making us feel immediately at ease. The dishes were excellent, carefully prepared, and rich in flavor. It was a pleasant discovery and an experience we recommend to anyone in Matera who wants to enjoy excellent food in a welcoming atmosphere.

Great culinary experience in Matera. The restaurant is by the street so you can feel the vibe of the town but is private enough to allow your privacy. The food was delicious from appetizer to dessert. Local dishes with a touch of sophistication that made them all real gourmet! The staff is super friendly and welcoming and walked me through their recommendations. Definitely worth trying it! Grazie mille

The dishes are delicious but not very generous; the €6 glass of wine is drunk in no time because the portion is so small; the €6 cover charge for two is a bit excessive.

We did wine and food pairing here, it was super. Learned about the grapes of Basilicata and local producers. The food pairing was excellent, inventive with local produce, I can only imagine how brilliant the restaurant is!

My wife and I went to this restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary! Superb food. Excellent service. Very nice, welcoming, and clean atmosphere.
Highly recommended.

May 3, 2026 Wandering through the narrow streets of the Sassi district in search of a restaurant for dinner, we entered and were seated without a reservation. What can I say...a very intimate restaurant with a charming setting, partly inside a limestone cave. It offers an excellent selection of wines; we were expertly guided in selecting one that both suited our tastes and complemented our dishes. The dishes certainly deserve praise (I must say I had a delicious fava bean and chicory soup, the best...). Everything was truly delicious. I can't give the service 5 stars only because a few more smiles from some of the staff would have been appreciated, even though they were extremely polite and kind. Highly recommended.

A lovely spot in what appears to be a former prison or dungeon, hence the restaurant's name. Beautiful vaulted interior and very pretty decor.
Friendly welcome, very cool and competent waiters. They speak a little French.
Close to the most popular tourist streets. Good food, beautifully presented and delicious, worth the trip.
