05/10/2025: A welcoming, family-run restaurant just steps from the Castle, offering excellent homemade food. The owner is incredibly kind, friendly, and welcoming, serving and describing his dishes with passion and energy. Each dish has a story and a reason for being there, and we were treated to a meticulous service throughout the meal, as were the other diners at the tables. Delicious food in a delightful atmosphere. We will definitely be back, and we sincerely thank the owner for the welcome and unexpected gift of a lovely bottle of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, which we will drink to his health! Highly recommended, and see you soon!

02/10/2025: Visited yesterday for lunch with friends, all experts in wine, terroir, and food. First-class hospitality and a meticulously curated menu, crafting ideas using top-quality local ingredients (grains, herbs, flowers, and select meats) crafted with inspiration and substance. Whether it's grain risotto with herbs and dandelion petals, or pork stew, or lamb with local herbs, you're spoiled for choice. Sandro Baliva manages everything with care, passion, and a surprising knowledge of the rural culture of the past, which he respectfully reinterprets in his dishes. A bonus is the location, just steps from Piccolomini Castle, and the view of the Fucino valley.

28/09/2025: An ideal place for an outdoor lunch overlooking the square. Today, despite the restaurant being full, they quickly served us an excellent Camilla's chitarra and veal strips. The focaccias served in a bread basket and the tiramisu were also good! Highly recommended.

15/09/2025: The restaurant is located on the ground floor of a house 2 km from San Demetrio Ne' Vestini. It has ample parking and, being on the ground floor, is easily accessible for strollers and those with mobility issues. It's in an almost "strategic" location, given that in my opinion there are many interesting places to visit nearby, including places of worship and hikers. But back to the restaurant. It's a casual place, but with good quality food and an excellent wine selection. Naturally, the cuisine is based on local products, and primarily meat-based. We enjoyed an appetizer, a main course served as a starter, two first courses, three glasses of wine, water, and coffee, all for €62 (see photo). The prices are slightly high; you can certainly spend less in the area, but in my opinion, overall, it's above average in terms of product quality, service, and ambiance. A round of applause goes to the dining room staff, who are very helpful, professional, yet young, and always have a warm smile, which isn't a given (I say this because in the area, people in the retail sector, including restaurants, are sometimes very grumpy and pissed off at the world, as someone from Abruzzo puts it). If I have to find any flaws, though they have little to do with the food, they'd be the restrooms, which aren't up to par with the restaurant's, the outside area is a bit chaotic, like an unfinished construction site, and finally, the front door needs major maintenance, but as I said before, the food is more important.

15/10/2025: Everything was perfect! One of the best restaurants with a good quality/price ratio. We opted for the multi-course menu and everything was delicious! To make us happy, they even offered us two starters. The owner was super kind and available to give us tips on what to see in the area.

The lamb tartare, beef aged in Montepulciano d'abruzzo wine perfectly complemented by the Salem dessert came with an avalanche of tastes and aromas that never ended. I have no words to express the culinary experience and the kindness of the staff.

31/08/2025: Waiting times are completely unreasonable for the value for money! Worst pizza we've ever eaten in Italy. Outrageously low-class, like a train station with the noise level and the ambiance is terrible. Definitely not recommended!

24/08/2025: Il Cacciatore is the local restaurant's go-to. Homemade cuisine, top-quality food, and generous portions alone would be enough to define this place. The hospitality, professionalism, and helpful staff make it even better. And that's not all: the prices are very affordable. The value for money is incredible; you eat a lot, everything is delicious, and it's very cheap. If you're passing through, you can't miss it, but even if you live far away and want to take a trip, you won't regret it. 👍🏼

The arrosticini, freshly prepared, were served with special attention: we ordered four of them, and they were brought to us as they were ready, hot and fragrant, thus enhancing their deliciousness. The ravioli were also highly appreciated, with their well-balanced combinations and delicate yet firm dough, a sign of careful and well-executed cuisine. 19/10/2025: Every time I'm in the area, La Portella is a must-visit for the authentic goodness of the dishes served and the cozy, rustic atmosphere. I love the cleanliness and elegance of the place, and I find the service to be quick and attentive to customer needs, with particular attention to food intolerances. Reservations aren't always necessary, even though the place is quite popular.

14/10/2025: Everything was very good and authentic! The mixed grill was a little more substantial with all the bones... Anyway, I recommend it!
