18/01/2026: Excellent experience. We loved everything about it, from the venue to the food, and the service. The atmosphere is typical of a tavern, as it should be. The wine selection is beautiful and vast; we didn't try the spirits, but we noticed a few very good bottles. There were four of us and we wanted to try everything: mixed appetizers, typical Maremma first courses (the tagliolini with truffle and venison prague were exquisite), Florentine steak for the main course, side dishes, and desserts. Everything was perfect, the price was in line with the quantity and quality of the food. I absolutely recommend it ;)

22/11/2025: Today we went to this little restaurant that was recommended to us, and it was a pleasant discovery! Authentic dishes and local ingredients are the perfect combination for an excellent lunch. The restaurant is also part of a wonderful initiative to promote the local area, sponsored by the San Giovanni delle Contee Community Cooperative.

18/12/2025: We were warmly welcomed into a well-kept and spotlessly clean restaurant. The attention to detail in selecting the ingredients and the presentation are exceptional! As a true Maremma native, I know tortelli well, but here they are truly superior! Everything is top-notch, including Laura, who pampers you and makes you feel at home. We'll definitely be back.

This trattoria is one of those places that makes you feel right at home: a welcoming atmosphere, a family atmosphere, and an attention to detail that's evident as soon as you enter. The staff is incredibly kind, always smiling and attentive, but a special mention goes to the owner: incredibly kind and helpful, capable of welcoming every guest with genuine warmth and making everyone feel truly welcome. The cuisine is simply exceptional, with authentic flavors and generous portions. Each course showcases tradition, but with a pleasantly surprising twist. Everything was perfect, accompanied by excellent wines expertly recommended. It's one of those places you'll want to return to and recommend without hesitation to friends and family. My compliments to the entire staff; we'll definitely be back!

21/02/2026: If you're passing through Manciano, definitely stop at Trattoria Il Rifugio! The atmosphere is welcoming and familiar, and you'll immediately feel at home. The risotto is simply amazing, and the pappardelle with wild boar are spectacular, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The cod is delicious. The welcome was top-notch, Ilaria was incredibly kind and attentive. The dessert.....exquisite! A place to definitely return to! 🍷✨

The service was five-star, friendly and attentive, and the food itself was equally high quality and flavorful, as everyone at the table confirmed. The place was very welcoming, and the food, from appetizer to dessert, was excellent, with balanced flavors that were never overwhelming. I'm not a wine expert, so I left the selection to the waitress, but I must say the fruity red was delicious! The quality/price ratio was absolutely right. I highly recommend this experience. The menu is a tribute to true Maremma cuisine: flavorful, well-crafted dishes, without unnecessary modern constraints. The homemade first courses are excellent, from Maremma tortelli to pici with game ragù, always rich and flavorful. The meat-based second courses, especially the wild boar, are cooked to perfection and reflect the region in every bite. The side dishes and desserts are also excellent, simple but made to perfection. The real added value, however, is the welcome: family-run, the service is friendly, genuine, and never rushed. You feel like a guest, not a customer. The quality-price ratio is absolutely right, especially considering the portions and the quality of the ingredients. A sincere, no-frills restaurant that keeps tradition alive and makes you want to return. Highly recommended for those seeking the authentic Maremma, both in the food and in the atmosphere.
