01/05/2026: Totally disgusting pizza, it seems frozen, little toppings and the waiting times are long enough to reject

24/01/2026: We've been frequenting this pizzeria for many years now, and it's certainly one of the most delicious in the lower Salento area. The taste of pizza is subjective, but to judge, you have to taste it. The dough is excellent, the ingredients are incredibly fresh, and the fact that they're prepared in full view is certainly a guarantee. And to top it all off, the owner and his staff are incredibly friendly and offer excellent service. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

29/09/2025: The pizza was good despite the wait, but just looking at the August receipt today, I noticed the gluten-free Peroni for €6. A steal!

27/09/2025: The pizzas are good, but unfortunately the slowness and internal disorganization make for a negative experience. Not because of the very friendly waiters, but rather because of the slowness in making the pizzas. Two hours for four pizzas with the restaurant almost empty is simply not an option, especially if you assure me there's a chance to come to a table and eat at that time. Avoid if you're in a hurry.

15/09/2025: Unclean environment: they brought us the can of coke (obviously not clean) with plastic cups stuck on top. The pizza was raw and the buffalo mozzarella, added out of the oven, had not been drained and wet the pizza 🥴 The porcini mushrooms, on the pizza, were almost non-existent. The only good thing was the spumone. The pittule were raw and very greasy. Strongly not recommended place

29/06/2026: I strongly advise against visiting Trattoria L’Isola Dei Pirati (Chef Miky Passione Mare) in Gallipoli. My recent visit was an absolute disaster, highlighting terrible customer service, awful quality, and incredibly shady billing practices. ​The Order: We asked for two simple glasses of water and were instead brought a 1-liter bottle of still water, which we were forced to pay for. We also ordered two cappuccinos, which were undoubtedly the worst I have ever had. To make it even more ridiculous, the portions were completely inconsistent—one glass was full, and the other was only half full. ​The Service: The hospitality here is nonexistent. When my daughter mentioned she wasn't sure what she wanted to order yet, the waiter actually snapped at her and rudely told her to hurry up and make a decision. It was completely unprofessional and hostile. ​The Shady Billing: The total came to €15 for just two bad cappuccinos and a bottle of water. When I paid, I was only handed the credit card terminal slip. I asked for a proper restaurant receipt, and they handed me a piece of paper that simply stated "€15" with absolutely no itemized lines. When I insisted on an itemized specification of what we were being charged for, the waiter disappeared into the private back rooms. I waited for quite a while, but he never returned. ​This place is a first-class tourist trap, and the staff behave like absolute scammers who run and hide rather than provide a legal, itemized bill. Save your money and your peace of mind—go anywhere else in Gallipoli.

13/05/2026: I have very mixed feelings about this establishment. We were initially greeted warmly by a young, smiling, and attentive waiter. He then handed our order over to his colleague Silvia, and she didn't smile at all. She didn't even try to understand what we wanted and barely spoke, even though I always try to speak a few words of Italian. And yet, there weren't many tourists around. Perhaps she chose the wrong profession. As for the food, there was a wide selection of ice cream, cakes, and savory items. The cannolo was a good size and tasty. The ice cream was also good. It's a shame that the unpleasant welcome from this waitress spoiled the experience. We come here to relax; let's not forget that.

10/05/2026: We had three gin and tonics...horrible...flat tonic, only the smell of gin! €21 is fine if they make them well, not if you give me flat water. Not recommended.

13/06/2026: I recently visited Puglia for work, and while my colleague headed north, I decided to stay behind to explore Porto Cesareo—and I am so glad I did! This town was the absolute highlight of my trip, largely thanks to my stay at Hotel Riva Del Sole. As someone who has traveled the world non-stop for 40 years, it takes a lot to truly impress me, but this place has an extra special quality. Hotel Riva Del Soleis centrally located, close to everything, exceptionally safe, quiet, and absolutely spotless (and yes, the elevators work perfectly!). The gym is fully equipped, and the kitchen serves an amazing, diverse assortment of breakfast items. What truly stands out, however, is the genuine care that the hosts and front desk managers bring to the table. It is an incredibly well-run establishment. If you are visiting the area, I cannot recommend staying here enough!
