06/04/2026: I've reserved another Easter Monday before writing a review, and I have to say that nothing has changed since last year. The staff is quite rude. The guy who takes reservations, I think, should calm down. I think he should remember that he's dealing with customers, and kindness pays off in every way! The wait was interminable. The waitress told us 5 minutes and then she arrived, I think. We waited 45 minutes in line! Perhaps it could be a great place if they could review the staff and wait times.

06/05/2026: The best part first – they offer a really good house wine, a Vino Rosso. The appetizer, Frittura mista gamberi e calamar, was frozen and extremely dry. The pizzas were good. A cover charge for a 5-year-old is completely unacceptable.

19/10/2025: We chose this place by chance, and by choice, we'll never return. The main problem is the lack of communication with the customer. We asked for a Spritz, unaware that the local one was different from the standard one (and this wasn't specified). But the sore point was the bill. A crazy theory was invented (and there was a finance officer among us) about the fact that we couldn't split the bill. Arrogantly, they denied us the option of splitting the bill by six, arguing that the maximum was four. I would recommend improving communication and paying attention to what customers ask for when it doesn't reflect reality.

28/09/2025: A wonderful wine bar in the old part of town. A fantastic selection of local wines which were expertly described in English. We had three different wines each and they were all wonderful! Paired with a platter of local cured meats and cheese made for a small but tasty dinner. Sit outside as it is a great place for people watching.

20/09/2025: There was only one waitress (zooming around!) so it was half an hour before ordering, which seemed longer when hungry! Food was fairly good but dollops of marmite with beef is seriously lazy cheffing and not very nice! Seemed a little bit of Emperor’s new clothes to be honest - would not recommend in a country where food is taken seriously… wines were great

19/09/2025: An exceptional little restaurant in the center of Lecce, on a secluded street. The atmosphere and food are truly superb.

15/02/2026: We discovered this pastry shop by chance online. We entered and were greeted by a kind, friendly, and very sweet lady, who is 88 years old, and her 90-year-old husband, who is still working with the dough... excellent, artisanal, and well-filled desserts, because taste is not just pleasing to the eye... a place full of all kinds of sweets, with a lot of Salento tradition... I ordered two mixed trays of pastries and made a great impression at home in Brindisi... I highly recommend this pastry shop and the very sweet owners... 14/02/2026: I haven't lived in Lecce for 24 years, and I don't know how I've never seen this pastry shop. Maybe because from the outside it looks more like a bar. I don't know. In any case, just walking past yesterday, I was struck by a wonderful aroma. It reminded me of the sweets my grandfather used to make, as he had a bakery back then. And indeed, here you'll find a wonderful couple who have been baking typical Salento sweets for about 60 years, prepared in the workshop right behind the sales area. I love these places that maintain a vintage feel, the pastry shop of yesteryear with traditional desserts that I've found delicious. So, whether you're visiting from out of town or even Lecce residents like me, come on over!

23/03/2026: Lecce's historic bar offers a wide variety of fresh sweet and savory treats, open all day. The pasticciotti are especially worth trying; they come in many varieties. The staff is friendly, helpful, and courteous.

17/03/2026: The rustici are awful. I stopped in this morning craving a rustico and expecting a good portion, but instead, I was completely disappointed. Inside, a medallion of just mozzarella and a little tomato, each bite a chunk of soft rubber. But I say, béchamel sauce, they don't use it anymore!

27/09/2025: Bad experience, poor cleanliness, and very rude. The disturbing thing is that they flag negative reviews on TripAdvisor and have them removed, which is why they only have positive reviews. Avoid them.

02/05/2026: One of the few bars opened early when I went. The person working there was friendly and recommended we try the cafe Lecce drink. We did and drank it at the bar. It was good. Thanks.

27/04/2026: A bar in a wonderful location with average prices, a reasonably good breakfast bar, decent coffee, and a vast selection of beers. However, the outdoor tables are trashed to say the least, and table service is nonexistent. Service at the counter is truly spotty; greetings seem to be paid for separately, and a gentleman often comes out to tidy up chairs that customers have thrown around. I go there often and it's always hilarious; it's an institution, after all.

30/10/2025: I found it a bit expensive and a little oily. Panino tomato tuna €9, café americano €3.50, perhaps because I had something similar yesterday in Lacco Ameno that was cheaper and tastier.

14/10/2025: We went there while strolling through the streets, the panini was very good, very crispy, the best. The service was good, two girls were at the bar very nice

22/03/2026: WOW! The food is wonderful 🤩 Everything is delicious. The only flaw is in one of the off-menu dishes, the spaghetti with lobster. The lobster is very chewy, but otherwise it's a spectacle. Trust me and go there.

09/03/2026: The food is excellent; it's simple, traditional cuisine, with a seasonal menu that respects the ingredients. The seafood linguine is excellent. The restaurant is located in Acaya, a small village in the province of Lecce, a short walk from the castle. There's a lovely fireplace. The service is friendly. 100% recommended.

11/02/2026: The waiter comes to the table and rudely confronts me after pointing out that a very simple first course (pasta) arrived almost an hour after ordering, in a very sparsely crowded restaurant (on a Wednesday evening). The fish and chips appetizer we ordered (€27) was devoured in 5 minutes, and the wait for the first course was 48 minutes, as stated by the same waiter to whom I mentioned our inconvenience (he was desperate to be right). Does this seem normal to you? We're not talking about a risotto with special creaminess and long cooking times, but a very simple first course, quite mediocre, I must say, especially the cacio e pepe with prawns; the ciceri e tria was definitely more decent. From the heated discussion that ensued at the table, in the presence of other customers who also received their dishes very late, as they themselves stated, they consider it perfectly normal for the dish to be served at the table so long after ordering. Considering the discreet atmosphere and the price of each dish, I don't think such unnerving wait times are normal, much less the staff's rude response to our disappointment. We've also noticed that they're very good at not caring and just running the cashier as if nothing was wrong! 👏

Personally, I have a weakness for the fried foods, and especially the fried mozzarella: simply extraordinary, one of those things you always order and that never disappoints. The atmosphere is exactly what it should be: rustic, authentic, no-frills. And that's precisely its strength. In a world full of contrived and "perfect" places, La Perla remains authentic. You feel at home, meet friends, and experience a family atmosphere that's increasingly rare these days. It's the classic Sunday spot in Lecce, where you know you'll have a great time, where time seems to slow down and everything is simple and authentic. The service is fast, informal, yet always friendly, helping to maintain that perfect balance between tradition and hospitality. If you're looking for a gourmet experience, perhaps this isn't the right place. But if you're looking for a real place, with sincere cuisine and a soul, then La Perla is simply perfect. A must-visit. 24/09/2025: Beautiful café with excellent aperitifs and cocktails, everything is truly top-notch, polite and competent staff, a magical place, in short, it is difficult to change once you have visited it.
