You'd never expect the beauty and attention to detail I found on Tuesday evening in this sprawling establishment. The same attention to detail is evident in the food and service, which are excellent, excellent, excellent, if not excellent. It's a given that I'll be returning even though I'm 1,100 km away. Thank you and sincere compliments.

25/09/2025: After a year, I returned to this charming, historic restaurant, composed of many small rooms, but I was disappointed. The traditional Salento cuisine, once of a notable standard, has unfortunately declined in both quality and presentation. All the appetizers were mediocre, the first courses, including the maritati, were decent, and the guaccetto was exceptional. The desserts were good, and the recommended wine was mediocre. The service was friendly but confused and unprofessional. The price was high for the quality of the food.

05/10/2025: Stop in Sternatia for the Cammino del Salento and dine here at La Porta Antica. We ordered the fritto misto, tagliolini with radicchio, shrimp, and orange, linguine with lemon pesto and shrimp, and for dessert, pistachio spumone and chocolate soufflé. Everything was delicious, and the first courses were generous and delicious. The staff were incredibly friendly. I highly recommend it; the food is truly delicious. Congratulations, well done! 25/09/2025: This restaurant also has outdoor seating. Typical Salento dishes, excellent quality, a little above average but the quality is worth it. Wide selection. Recommended. If we return to the area, we'll definitely return to this place; it's worth a detour.

Just yesterday I went there with some friends who aren't local, and they were thrilled with both the quality of the food and the professionalism of the team, not to mention the extraordinary kindness of the owner. The atmosphere was so welcoming that my friends and I didn't want to leave. Everyone loved the food. The photos are just a tiny fraction of the Salento delicacies we tasted. 22/09/2025: A very well-kept and welcoming B&B, with spotless rooms and free parking nearby. The highlight of this location is the terrace, with a breakfast area featuring a large wooden table in the center, a sofa and armchairs area ideal for relaxing, and a towel drying area accessible to all guests. The breakfast is plentiful and varied, both sweet and savory. The homemade ciambella (a type of ring cake) is excellent, as are the brioches and pasticciotti (pastries), scrambled eggs with toast, yogurt, and fruit. Ms. Angelica, very helpful and kind, made us feel at home. Highly recommended, we will definitely return to this peaceful oasis. Best regards, Giandomenico and Rosa.
