The increase in the covered outdoor area for the restaurant service has made the place even more pleasant in the summer and also in the evening. The years go by and we continue to return very willingly.

22/12/2025: It was a lovely cafe near the Leaning Tower of Pisa. The sweet treats, like cookies, we ate were delicious. The coffee was as good as always. It all cost 5 euros.

20/12/2025: This little corner, right next to the Leaning Tower of Pisa, has been our special place for breakfast, lunch, and even afternoon tea. The food is delicious, and the place is beautiful and feels very welcoming. The staff are absolutely delightful, always smiling and so kind, which is greatly appreciated. 19/02/2026: We went on a Sunday, and despite it being fully booked, the service was courteous and fast. The food was good, and they even catered to me, as I'm celiac. Excellent value. We'll be back.

Prices, however, are above average, especially considering the remote location: three of us ordered an appetizer, a first course, a dessert, two bottles of water, and a half liter of wine, for a total of €120 for three. Not exactly country restaurant prices.

03/03/2026: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Osteria al Casale was the absolute highlight of our time in Matera. Every single dish was outstanding — full of flavor, beautifully presented, and perfectly executed. Fabio made the experience even more special. His wine recommendation was spot on, and in 7 years with my partner, I’ve never seen her completely satisfied with a waiter’s first suggestion… until now. That says it all. Exceptional food, flawless service, unforgettable evening. Highly recommended. 🍷✨

They immediately had a free table for 2 people and upon ordering, they informed us that there would be a 30-40 minute wait for the pizza and whether that would suit us. Our table was next to the stove, and all those 40 minutes the pizzas were constantly coming out. The pizzas were really delicious and crispy. Just pay attention to the working hours.

15/02/2026: I spent Valentine's Day here. Everything started out fine. They seated us in the room with music, and after about ten minutes the appetizers arrived (we had the set menu): the dish was good, but the portions were really small. From then on, the evening almost turned into a nightmare. We waited an hour and a quarter for the first course. We could practically see the first courses being served all around us, but nothing for us. Once they arrived, we ate, and the same thing happened: the dish was good, but the portions were small (at least mine, since I had the fish menu). For the second course, needless to say, we waited another 40 minutes. While we waited, there had been some music playing (not themed, but disco house, which is something you don't expect on a Valentine's Day evening), but two gentlemen arrived and started singing and playing themselves with a microphone and guitar. Except the music was so loud, my head started pounding so hard I wanted to leave without finishing my meal. In fact, when the main course arrived, we ate (the food wasn't even good here) and my boyfriend tried to make the gesture to turn down the music, but he didn't pay attention to anyone. So, seeing me feeling really bad, he got up to find someone and ask for dessert to go. A very kind lady moved us to the next room (without the music, meaning we could hear it, but a little less) and we waited another 35 minutes for dessert. It was anything but a chocolate panna cotta. It was more like something whipped up on the spot and thrown on the plate. Of course, when it came time to pay, they didn't even make us wait a minute. It's a shame the menu wasn't worth the price at all. The waiters, all very kind, were constantly apologizing for the delays, both to us and to other people. It was supposed to be a Valentine's Day surprise from my boyfriend, but it was torture from start to finish. He himself apologized to me constantly because he didn't believe the evening would go that way, given that he'd been there before and had a great time. I'm sorry, but I'll never set foot in this place again. I left with a terrible headache, as well as being hungry.

19/03/2026: What can I say...for what we spent I expected better, the truffle meat was good but the black truffle (the cheapest one) was dusted... the steak was not cooked like I've seen done elsewhere... the side dish was 4 baked potatoes (cold) the service was very kind... in the end for a starter and steak almost 80 euros per person seems excessive to me...
