Farmstay Podere Il Fornacino

12/09/2023: I had the pleasure of staying at Podere Il Fornacino in 2015 and I have wanted to revisit ever since. I was finally able to get back in September 2023, this time with my young family in tow. There aren’t enough superlatives for this place. We stayed in the safari tent which was the very definition of ‘glamping’ - the perfect mix of luxury (with the comfortable bed, stunning linens, stand-alone bathtub, and all kitchen and bathroom mod cons) and being close to nature (with the outdoor shower nestled into an olive tree, the private hot tub and sauna with views over the rolling countryside, and the gorgeous outside deck). The setting is so peaceful and quiet and yet there are busy seaside towns and picturesque medieval villages (and more) within easy reach. Lora is an exemplary host, friendly and approachable with nothing being too much trouble. And lastly, but by no means least, the breakfast is second to none: a buffet of sweet and savoury delights with delicious local ingredients, many grown on the grounds of the farm itself. I hope to come back, and much sooner this time.
11/08/2023: We had a great few days at fornacino. The kids loved playing with the dogs and cats especially. Lora and Marco were very friendly and the food at breakfast was delicious. We made pizzas one night too which was fun. It’s so chilled here the perfect place to escape too.

27/09/2023: Siamo capitati senza prenotazione e siamo stati accolti con grande cortesia, antipasto abbondante e di qualità, una tagliata davvero degna di nota. Rapporto qualità prezzo assolutamente competitivo. Ci torneremo sicuramente.
27/08/2023: We dine here whenever we are in the area and we are never disappointed.
This is a very relaxed restaurant with amazing views, they book the tables out only once so that you can stay as long as you like.
The owner tells you their specialities and takes your orders.
We ordered a variety of starters (7 of us) portions generous and all were enjoyed.
The pasta is freshly made using eggs from their own chickens!
Mains we got meat, grilled and cooked to perfection followed by dessert.
Service was friendly, the owners wife came out of the kitchen later on to see if we had enjoyed our food and she spent a good amount of time talking to us about the business and the family that all work there, the granddaughter was learning by the ‘Master’ how to cut the meat off the bone at the table and she did very well.
We highly recommend this restaurant and will be returning very soon

21/11/2023: Caratteristico ristorante, informale, simpatico. Ottimo il menù e piatti molto ben realizzati nella qualità e nella presentazione. Servizio accurato, discreto, cordiale, cortese. Prezzi nella media. Ampio parcheggio.
01/09/2023: Stayed for a week on the complex. Limited eating options w/out a car, so dined here 4 times. Told that breakfast was available, and bread could be ordered, for use in your accommodation. Neither close to the truth. I got a jam tart, coffee and juice for my only breakfast. Lunch Menu was exactly the same as the evening one, but w/out the nice pizzas they did then.
Whilst food was quite good, the choice was a bit limited.
However, the big let down was the very sloooowwww service.
I know Italians like to take their time over eating but if you ask for a fresh drink, it doesn't take 20 mins to pour it. Nor does it take 30 mins to print off a bill, then a further 15 mins to bring the card machine to pay. Especially when the table staff weren't exactly rushed off their feet taking orders, serving food etc. They did find plenty of time to chat extensively to local Italian customers from the nearby villages though.
Whilst I had a relaxing stay in an apartment there, I won't be frequenting this establishment next time I visit Tuscany. Found much better options once a car was available to drive elsewhere.
