The cuisine is solid and flawless (the menu in front of you is truly overwhelming). The selection of local wines is also excellent (which I always try...). 16/09/2025: We weren't exactly happy with this restaurant. The pappardelle with wild boar was very pale, the sauce was missing, and the tagliata was just a thin slice of meat, nothing like tagliata. It was a disappointment, I must say.

11/01/2026: We went for dinner a couple of weeks ago. The evening went well. The place was very welcoming, the service was prompt and courteous, and the food was good. The only thing that made us turn up our noses was the rather low temperature in the rooms, which isn't particularly welcome in winter. Even when we entered the restaurant, instead of being greeted by a comfortable wave of heat, we didn't notice much difference from the temperature outside. I would recommend turning up the heating.

25/12/2025: Bad service, we were disappointed. The table was placed on the sloping road, even though we booked for 12 people at a table for 8, eating on a bench, all this in the dark, the pizza was very small, rubbery, inedible, and the beer was served warm. All this for a cost of 25 euros per person for pizza and dessert. I strongly advise against the mini margherita at 9 euros, madness.

25/12/2025: Always a great experience. We come here often, and never grow tired of Laura’s traditional (but creative) cooking. They select the best ingredients, the best local suppliers, the best quality meat and dairy. I never eat pasta, but I make an exception for the Maltagliati with Wood Pigeon and pine-nuts. I just love them so much. Also, they offer fowl when in season and wild boar, as befits this territory. I love their roasted pigeon and the beef tartare, the polenta and the truffle egg. If you start with an aperitivo, they have a good local gin (Ginepraio) or a Tuscan-made vermouth and bitter.

Today, my husband, my son, and I came for lunch, and we were so thrilled that we decided to celebrate our son's First Communion here. You deserve the best. 21/01/2026: In Tuscany for work, I tried several places in the surrounding area until I stumbled upon Sottobosco. There's no comparison, and I haven't changed. The restaurant is clean and well-kept, and in the warmer months it has a large, green outdoor area—it's wonderful. The welcome and service will make you feel at home, friendly and kind. The restaurant offers a menu of meat and seafood dishes. I've tried everything, and I must say the quality of the ingredients is excellent, everything cooked to perfection! The price is more than fair—highly recommended!

12/02/2026: In an increasingly fast-paced urban environment, this small restaurant presents itself as a barebones affair, more geared toward takeout than a true dining experience. The interior spaces are minimal, functional but unwelcoming, and spending time at a table feels more like a quick stopover than a convivial experience. The pizzas didn't satisfy me; the overall attention to detail was inadequate; the mozzarella was served in slices, cold from the fridge, and without a drizzle of oil; the balance of flavor and appearance was poor. The service is fast: the staff is friendly, efficient, and accustomed to a fast pace; the door constantly opens and closes to serve the tables outside. One senses an organizational machine geared toward quickly processing the influx of customers. The prices seem too high for the type of restaurant, the experience offered, and the quick service. The overall impression is that the offerings are geared primarily toward a tourist crowd with a healthy budget and few expectations.

04/03/2026: Always good pizzas, reasonable prices, and excellent service. The only problem is the place, which is very small and sometimes unbearably noisy when there are loud customers. After a while, I returned to eat at this recently expanded restaurant, which also includes an adjoining room and the option of seating more. They recently ran a 15 euro promotion that includes a Neapolitan mixed fried fish, a pizza, and a drink. The initiative is laudable, but there are some improvements that could be made. The menu includes a certain type of pizza, and if a customer wants a pizza with more toppings, RIGHTFULLY, they have to pay a premium. However, if they want a beer instead of a drink (Coke, Fanta, or water), they have to pay the full price, rather than just the surcharge. In my opinion, it's wrong to force customers to spend not 15 but 20 euros, which is the normal price, considering the fried fish is so cheap. Another consideration. We arrived at 8:00 PM and left at 10:30 PM to grab a pizza and a beer. Frankly, two and a half hours were too long for a meal. There's a lot to improve, especially the speed of serving customers. Pizza, as always, good!

03/02/2026: We were walking around Empoli, and someone recommended this pizzeria. It's an excellent place, right in the center of San Miniato Alto. The waiters are very kind. The place has beautiful and unique olive oil. The pizza is very good, and you can also choose gluten-free. Everything is very good and high-quality. The value for money is very good. I recommend the pistadella pizza, it's excellent. The platters are also very good.

09/03/2026: We took advantage of a Smartbox package that included a menu for one. We ordered fried anchovies with a delicious parsley sauce, gnocchi with pesto, dried tomatoes, and pecorino cheese, and tagliatelle with white ragù and mushrooms. To finish, we had a dessert—super delicious, a chef's delight—a glass of cream, chocolate, and salted caramel. We paired it all with two glasses of wine.

23/02/2026: We were there yesterday with a group of 10 people, and all 10 of us had a delicious meal, and compliments to the chef! But the service was a different story. The young woman who was serving a table next to ours, where 4 people were almost finished, had no time for her guests. She made it clear she'd rather be done with work. She quickly cleared away empty plates, and we weren't asked for dessert. When we asked, she said it had to be quick because the kitchen was closing soon! We didn't give a tip at checkout, as they always include it in the bill at €2 per person. If this restaurant had friendly staff, it would be packed. This is the place to be for the food. Too bad for the chef.
