26/08/2024: I had dinner with friends over the weekend, the place was very clean, the staff were friendly and kind. We took pizzas and desserts, great price and excellent quality ingredients. In my opinion one of the best pizzerias in Certaldo, I will certainly return if I find myself in the area. I'll leave photos for you😄

29/06/2024: Went to Empoli to see Masolino. It was very hot at noon and the town was on lunch break, so this ice cream shop was the only one open. I doubt that any Italian shop that is open even during lunch break would be very good. However, it’s cheap, delicious and air-conditioned… Two small cups of granita: lemon and strawberry, the lemon is sour and refreshing, and the strawberry is full of pulp! Total 5e

21/07/2024: Non capisco il motivo per il quale una locanda e latteria storica debba fare ricorso al preparato Fabbri per il gelato. Ovvio, ci sono ragioni di costi, tempi di lavorazione, tempi di conservazione ma non ha più senso. Fare meno e meglio!

21/07/2024: I don't understand why a historic inn and dairy should use the Fabbri preparation for ice cream. Obviously, there are reasons of costs, processing times, storage times but it no longer makes sense. Do less and better!

16/06/2024: My niece recommended here as she had worked as a chef at a 1 star Michelin with many staff members some 14 years ago. We were a party of 8 and greeted by the manager Dean and his staff of Sofia, Franceso, Coso, Nearco and Silvia took care of our set multiple course ,small portion lunch, complete with matching wines from the Gabbiano vineyard where they are located. We liked it so much that we bought a gift cert. for my sister and her 2 daughters to come here soon for dinner. Lovely setting!

Una dolce fatto dalla cucina merita veramente la stella, degni di una pasticceria al altro livello. 03/09/2024: I regret to inform you about a disappointing dining experience I recently had at a well-known restaurant in Florence. Despite its historical reputation, the quality of the food and service fell considerably short of expectations. I spent 150 euros on a meal that left much to be desired. The bread was stale and flavorless, the pork chops were overcooked, dry, and lacking in seasoning, and the soup resembled a puree rather than a well-prepared dish. Additionally, the grilled vegetables were severely burned and lacked any discernible flavor. The wine was overpriced and had an unpleasant taste of vinegar. The desserts, including the Pana Cotta with a side of red sauce and the Tiramisu, were also disappointing in terms of freshness and taste. As someone with over 30 years of experience in the food and beverage industry, I was disheartened by the overall quality of the meal. Despite my expertise, I unfortunately refrained from addressing my concerns at the time, which I now recognize as a mistake. I genuinely wish I had spoken up and provided feedback to the staff. I hope that my experience can serve as a cautionary note for others considering dining at this establishment. Thank you for considering my feedback.

21/08/2024: Very nice restaurant in the heart of the historic center. Very good food, always of good quality. Excellent wine shop with fine wines. I recommend the steak, but all dishes are excellent.

23/07/2024: Yet another change of management. How is something like this possible given that it is always full and people spend money to go there? The conclusions are yours. Since living in the area I have seen at least 4 management changes. You already have many answers... Current management 2024: Average food. The chefs limit themselves to doing the essential without any creative touch. The tartares are micro and embarrassing. The price for lunch justifies the 3 stars, but I would never go there for dinner even if they change (but slightly) the menu. For ordinary people it's fine, but for more refined palates, there are better restaurants in the city. Frying normal. Grilled fish to be rebuilt. Service normal. Atmosphere: The place is called Akashi. The name “Akashi” has Japanese origins. It is made up of two kanji characters: “Aka” meaning “red” and “shi” meaning “bridge”. So, literally translated, the name Akashi means “red bridge”. I don't see any connection with the "style" of the place. I don't see any bridges, some red geisha and then everything is black as always. Gloomy and now in need of a necessary renovation if you want to make a difference.
