27/04/2025: I return to Cantina Simonetti after 5 months. I go back because the food is great, but above all because the customer care and attention is friendly and very familiar. I return bringing the whole family and celebrating Easter. We went against the weather, which threatened rain and did not allow a lunch in the square. But in the end it was a party. Sun and no sun. I repeat, the food was excellent and Alessio was very kind as always. Almost a friend. My tonnarelli are super top, the artichokes have no comment and the lamb presents itself. Thanks guys. The pizzas are highly recommended, especially the authentic "category" and "luna rossa", which are truly the jewel in the crown of the pizza menu. 17/05/2025: Are you kidding me? I can’t speak for the locals, but if you’re visiting Italy and hoping for authentic flavors, don’t waste your money here. The menu was extremely limited, and the spaghetti dishes were very disappointing—completely flavorless, undercooked, and served without any toppings at all. We were seated outside under cover, but it was cold and rainy, and no one came to check on us the entire time. The server was rude—he handled the plates so aggressively it felt like he was about to smash them. The only thing that tasted decent was the lamb skewers, but even those were nothing special—just like any skewers you could find outside of Italy. Totally underwhelming.

18/04/2025: Se encuentra no lejos de la Plaza Zama, en el distrito Appio Latino. Es la típica cafetería del barrio, popular entre los lugareños. ¡Bien, pequeño café! Dispone de sala de estar tanto en el interior como en el exterior. Bueno para bebidas y aperitivos, pizzas, sándwiches y productos de desayuno. Los cruasanes y pasteles se agotan rápidamente, así que si vas antes, tendrás una opción más amplia. Precios moderados y servicio amable.

11/05/2025: Last night we tried this pizzeria without having eaten. Let me start by saying that there were 4 of us without a reservation and with a lot of effort, without our insistence they made us sit. The order taker arrives and claims that he cannot change any pizza because there is a balance of flavors (it feels like being in a starred restaurant), which cannot be "spoiled" for any reason in the world. So far obviously corporate choices... but unfortunately I have proven intolerances and therefore I ask for a simple white pizza with lactose-free mozzarella and any humble vegetable. From the kitchen they say it can't be done. Now I have been to Vitagliano, Masucci, Porzio, Cracco in Milan, never had any problems. They even made us get up and leave because a very simple white meal with ONE vegetable was not possible. At this point do you have the pizzas already made? Do you have any idea that due to health problems, as I explained to the employee, it is not possible to give such answers? But obviously you are interested in the number and not the quality. Ah, I forgot the proposed proposal of a white pizza with lactose-free mozzarella and a portion of chips next to it so I could put them on the pizza. Thank you

11/05/2025: I'm sorry to give a low rating because there are some strong points, unfortunately there were some stumbles throughout the evening: Despite a reservation and the punctual arrival of the whole group, we waited more than an hour to be seated. The room is not very large and I understand there is a different turnout on weekends, but waiting so long unnerves even the most patient. Furthermore, we practically ate in staggered formats, there were those who received their food immediately and those who had to wait a long time. The menu is limited and certainly features some particular combinations, and from what I have noticed there is a particular tendency to wink both at oriental cuisine (among the starters a reinterpretation of the katsusando and the use of Ponzu sauce on a pizza if I remember correctly), and at the universe of the gourmet sandwich (black angus or pulled pork on a pizza are not seen every day). In my opinion, this makes the customer disoriented, as he has no references to the more classic traditional pizzas. Personally, it took me a while to decide which pizza to get for this very reason, but I admit that I'm a very simple person so maybe I'm not in the target group with the place. I found the fried potato appetizer to be fried to perfection, but excessively salty. As for the pizza, however, I really appreciated the dough, which enhanced the seasoning. The dessert wasn't bad either, perhaps excessively sweet for my tastes: in a creme brulee that already has a layer of pure sugar, the pineapple slice was too many (and with a hard centre, a little awkward to eat without a knife). In short, I understand the intentions and appreciate the commitment in wanting to bring refined products and experiment, but I admit that perhaps it's not for me. Probably the biggest flaw was the fluctuating and infrequent service. Maybe I had a less fortunate evening, we'll see if I can change my mind in the future.
