07/03/2026: Trattoria Dar Contadino in Albano is one of those places that reconnects you with the very idea of ​​traditional cuisine. As soon as you enter, you immediately feel the genuine, warm atmosphere that lets you know you're in the right place. The service is impeccable: attentive, smiling, and prompt without being intrusive, the staff offer expert advice and make every customer feel truly welcome. The food is the real star. The ingredients are excellent, and in every dish you can sense the care and attention to detail of a cuisine that seeks not to impress with artifice, but with authenticity and rich flavors. From the homemade pasta to the perfectly cooked meats, to the traditional side dishes and desserts, everything is prepared with a sure hand and evident passion. The portions are generous, the presentation simple yet meticulous, and each course arrives at the table in perfect time. The overall experience is truly top-notch, so much so that it immediately makes you want to return. However, the final bill is slightly higher than the local average. It's not excessive, but it's enough to impact the overall rating. For this reason, while acknowledging the excellent quality of the cuisine and service, my final rating is 4 out of 5 stars.

12/04/2026: A restaurant, as a concept, isn't primarily an attraction, but rather a place where you can fully enjoy the pleasure of food. Food that perhaps we mere mortals can't prepare at home. Here, things were completely reversed: a very beautiful place, the atmosphere and service are very interesting, live music... but the food, ladies and gentlemen, I'll just say one thing... I hope I don't feel sick! I had fish... a soute of mussels that wasn't on the menu and which the waiter kindly offered me to make up for the lack: they were half raw, half from the morning or the day before, half closed; then a seafood salad with octopus, cuttlefish, and shrimp, I think, which had an aftertaste of lake fish (perhaps I made a mistake in ordering seafood salad in a lake place; I should have known the closest fishermen didn't come from the sea), a side dish... raw chicory poached in oil, garnished with a half-burnt clove of garlic, which gave off a smell I can't even begin to describe!!! I won't go into the rest because, honestly, I don't even want to think about it. I reported the incident anyway, and the same waiter, who somehow ruins his reputation at that place, offered me a half portion of scampi risotto, and didn't charge me for the salad. (The rice was good, but the fish wasn't good.) Maybe just go there for an aperitif...the restaurants are different!

12/04/2026: This is my second time here. This time, we made the huge mistake of going at Easter. The fixed menu, €60, was embarrassing. I'll start with the best: the pastiera, divine. The rest was truly mediocre and at times inedible. The appetizers, left uncovered for several hours, featured mozzarella with a yellowish coating on the surface, dried-out cured meats, completely RAW vegetable puff pastry, and the egg cream was dry on the surface. Who knows how many hours it had been sitting out. The meat-based first courses were so soupy that the pasta was pale, as if it had been washed in sauce. The flavor was missing. Both the lamb and pork dish (dry, not even in a diner) and the steak were inedible. We pointed this out, and, aside from a shrug and a partial apology, upon seeing the plates sent back full, we paid full price. Organization: We booked for four and were given a table for three, which was remedied with an extra place setting, which was stolen from a nearby table. I drank with only one glass, the other was never delivered. The young waiter, who didn't know how to set the table, politely pointed out, but responded rudely. The maitre d', who was all-purpose, was dealing with a handful of waiters who were probably second-year hotel management students, ill-suited to a venue for special occasions. Live music... it's a shame we couldn't enjoy it, given the extremely loud nature of the venue with over 400 people. I wanted to book a room for a birthday party, but I changed my mind. You risk having a bad meal and a ruined party. What a shame! €240 wasted. Never again!

10/04/2026: Good dishes, some tweaks for improvement. I would have at least included a little cheese in the appetizer; there were only two slices of salami, one of prosciutto, and some pickled vegetables. The first course was good, nothing to complain about. The second course was a small sausage and two pieces of lamb, served with baked potatoes. The only sore point was the millefeuille with cream and chocolate. Honestly, it's misleading from the menu, since the millefeuille consisted of crumbled millefeuille biscuits, not the actual millefeuille cake. The flavors were good, but more transparency on the menu would have been helpful.

17/03/2026: The food is very good, the place is quiet, the people serving the tables are very sociable, perhaps the waiting times are a bit long.

16/04/2026: Easter Monday for four: good service despite it being very crowded. Enjoyable lunch. Special mention for the chicory: delicious!

06/04/2026: I went here with a group of friends for Easter Monday and I can only give it a 5-star rating. We sat on the glass terrace, with a beautiful, albeit distant, view of the lake. We ate cured meats, cheeses, vegetables, various types of pinsa, and desserts, and we thoroughly enjoyed every dish. The ingredients are top-quality, and the service was very helpful, kind, and attentive. Honestly, I have to disagree with the negative reviews I've read. We'll definitely be back. Highly recommended.

06/04/2026: We were a little hesitant to try this osteria given the less-than-stellar reviews, but we came for Easter Monday and it was a real revelation. We sat at the table and ordered coppiette, sausages, prosciutto, salami, mortadella, a trio of cheeses, artichokes, sautéed chicory, and focaccia. Everything was delicious and of excellent quality. Still not satisfied, we ordered three pinza, which were also delicious. To finish, we ordered sweet and sour desserts. The service was impeccable; the staff were young, polite, and punctual. The prices are fair, given the quality of the ingredients, and given that prices are similar everywhere you go around the lake and the surrounding area. In short, an osteria worth trying and definitely returning to.

12/10/2025: We celebrated a friend’s birthday at Borgo Antico. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully prepared. Unfortunately, what took away from the experience was the service. The staff seemed to lack basic etiquette and customer engagement. For example, when we asked if they had any pizzas with ham, the response was simply, “whatever is available on the menu.” A little more courtesy and willingness to guide customers, especially first-timers, would make a big difference. Great food, but the team could really benefit from some customer service training.

05/10/2025: We went here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and had made reservations a few weeks out however when greeted, was not asked if we were celebrating a special occasion and asked to pick any table, except all of the “good” tables were already taken up front by the window. So not the greatest most welcoming start to the evening. I only point this out because the “atmosphere” here is almost a negative value. This is literally a large long rectangle with low ceilings, limited decor of Wayfair mirrors and light fixtures thrown up in the walls and wood tables flanked by plastic chairs. The bar was the nicest focal point yet for some odd reason there was tv with sports on directly across from us, and music playing was so odd, everything from pop to rap, it was just bizarre and not classy at all. Server was borderline rude, I noticed they sold focaccia separately so I asked if burrata was served with any bread and he said no, pointed to the menu and highlighted the ingredients and no mention of bread, so we ordered separately. When burrata came out, it was served with 2 giant pieces of focaccia! We literally didn’t touch our separate order. We mentioned this to another server and he suggested we take it home with us. I had expected not to be charged for the extra bread but of course we were. The burrata itself was delicious but presentation was terrible, instead of showcasing the beautiful colours of the peppers and beet juice, it was buried under the cheese and the entire plate was covered with plain, not so fresh looking arugula which was just an odd and underwhelming first impression. Our main meals were pretty good, I had seabass which I found lacking in flavour and husband had pasta with meat sauce. We skipped dessert as portions were large. Overall there is nothing to bring us to return, there are several other restaurants in downtown Oakville that offer a much better atmosphere, service and comparable if not better food.

21/12/2025: A classic event venue with lots of people, like a money-grubbing assembly plant. But the problem is the people who continue to find places like this useful. Rent a room, a musician, and catering and you'll do much better.

26/10/2025: I love this place, for its location, for the very well-kept environment, for the courteous staff and good food, I celebrated my daughter's communion and participated in various events always a great pleasure I recommend it

03/04/2026: Arrogant staff, almost €10 for a 3-flavor ice cream (a meager quantity and a soft cone), and a coffee cream completely full of air bubbles and very runny.

22/03/2026: Let's say it's a normal ice cream shop, nothing special. I asked for a small cone (€3) and was told I couldn't sit down to eat it and would have to leave, because table service had different prices, so I would have to pay €6.

01/07/2025: Torno quest'anno dopo una brutta esperienza , perchè era il posto per mangiare più vicino allo stabilimento e a piedi faceva troppo caldo per cambiare. Questa volta siamo stati meglio perchè il servizio è stato molto veloce seppure era di domenica. La carbonara saporita ma con troppo sugo dentro il piatto. Pappardelle al cinghiale in bianco discrete. Prezzi medio alti rispetto al servizio basic. In due con bimbo di 2 anni sul conto in ritardo mi sono accorto di 5 persone acctreditate del servizio anzichè 2 e ....mezzo... Però staviolta ci stava anche lo scontrino fiscale.
