08/08/2025: The cuisine offered at this restaurant has completely revolutionized my idea of carbonara. A brilliant chef, careful both to respect the traditional recipe and to add that touch of flair necessary to make his dishes unique. I then returned during my brief stay in Rome to try a lasagna... I won't deny that I was worried about receiving the usual mix of diced tomatoes and carrots (which, unfortunately, I've become accustomed to at many restaurants), but—even then—I was amazed: excellent consistency, showcasing all the flavors, and even the chef's signature. The service staff is incredibly friendly and well-trained in welcoming non-Italian customers. If I have to criticize this place, it's the "infinite" line you have to endure before entering the restaurant and getting a seat: first-timers might be tempted to give up and look for another restaurant. However, Chef Frigerio is truly a gentleman like few others, and so are his culinary choices.

07/08/2025: An amazing experience. Family owned restaurant doing things differently, would absolutely go back when next in Rome. Off the beaten path, which makes this a gem to discover. Not trying to cater to the masses, but doing things amazingly. Be prepared to queue for a short time in busy periods as is normal for a great spot like this. Try all the dishes.

17/07/2025: We tried the tiramisu. The lady who owns the shop is very attentive and friendly. She makes many artisan desserts in the kitchen. The tiramisu was lukewarm. Espresso means instant coffee. We learned this from her. The dessert was lukewarm because the coffee was freshly made and poured lukewarm. We learned this ☺️ I think she used cookies in the base. The coffee wasn't fully absorbed, and the buttery smell was a bit overwhelming. Everything was fine.

03/08/2025: Dopo aver chiesto ad uno dei camerieri se fosse stato possibile fare un aperitivo, ci siamo seduti e ci siamo ritrovati a mangiare una focaccia scadente e un aperol spritz annacquato. Il servizio deludente: in pieno centro a Roma non c’era neanche un cameriere che parlasse in italiano. Il conto a dir poco eccessivo, data la qualità. Assolutamente da evitare!

22/07/2025: Si estás en Roma y no comes en el 433 , ¿estás realmente en Roma? 433 no es solo un restaurante. Es un estado de ánimo. También resulta ser 3 puertas más abajo de donde nos alojamos - peligrosamente conveniente y peligrosamente delicioso. De nuestras seis noches en Roma, mi esposa y yo cerramos este lugar tres veces. Para que conste, ese es el estado del Salón de la Fama. ¿Por qué? Porque el personal no solo servía comida, sino vibraciones. Servidores como Maya y Raju no solo nos cuidaron, sino que básicamente nos adoptaron. Por la noche dos nos sentimos como habituales. En la noche tres, éramos familia. ¿Para la noche seis? Llorábamos en nuestro tiramisú despidiéndonos. ¿Comida? Irreal. Pasta que te hace replantearte tus elecciones de vida. El marisco que sabe a Poseidón lo entregó personalmente. ¿Y los precios? Totalmente justo, especialmente teniendo en cuenta el tamaño de la porción y el lado libre de alegría que obtiene con cada plato. Tuvimos nuestra “Última Cena” allí antes de salir de Roma (sí, estoy ordeñando el juego de palabras) , e incluso a nuestros hijos —que son escépticos de los mariscos y esnobs de la pasta— les encantó. Fue el único lugar que hizo a todos en nuestro equipo felices, llenos y listos para otra ronda. Bono: Maya también nos salvó de un simulacro de moda vaticana. Ese es el siguiente nivel de hospitalidad. 433 no solo nos alimentaron — nos guiaron espiritual (y sartorialmente) . En una ciudad llena de monumentos, 433 se convirtieron en nuestro monumento a los buenos tiempos. Inténtalo. Me encanta. Compártelo si estás de acuerdo en que este lugar es más que una comida: es una base de casas romanas con mejor comida que tu hogar real.

26/07/2025: With a reservation several days in advance, we were placed in front of the entrance to the terrace, very unpleasant with the continuous passage. Friendly welcome, good service, in the end they took away the bread and oil from my friend who was still hungry, good food, very noisy atmosphere on the terrace.

21/07/2025: Excellent place, at the entrance to the beautiful village. Friendly and helpful staff, truly good food prepared with care (food very tied to the traditions of both Liguria and Brigasca, in the adjacent Roya Valley). The Sügelli are excellent, the Brandacujn and the fried panissa are delicious. Not to mention the main courses and desserts. There are few dishes to choose from, but they are all truly excellent. Special mention goes to the Brigasca toma, melted cheese accompanied by onions, potatoes, and baked tomatoes. A real treat.

30/07/2025: You feel like you're in a classy restaurant the moment you walk in. You're welcomed so warmly that you're afraid you'll be left behind when the bill arrives... But they're very honest. Kind and helpful throughout the entire dinner. The food is extraordinarily refined and imaginative. It's not the usual place where you go home and say, "I could have made that myself."

13/07/2025: We had a wonderful dinner at Il Desco during our visit to Verona. From the moment we walked in, we felt warmly welcomed by the staff, who were not only very attentive but also radiated genuine hospitality and professionalism. The dishes were everything you’d expect from a fine dining experience – beautifully presented, creatively composed, and incredibly well balanced in flavor. Each course felt like a small journey through the culinary world, reflecting both precision and imagination.

07/08/2025: We had a really good time, a family of four. Every course was a delight, both visually and in taste. The table service was pleasant and friendly. We recommend it.

03/08/2025: My husband, my daughter, and I went for dinner this evening. The place is very nice and welcoming. Unfortunately, the service was a bit slow, but the main problem was when I ordered panzanella (a typical Umbrian dish that I know very well, since my husband is originally from Orvieto) and was brought a small bowl of cherry tomatoes with a few breadcrumbs and two basil leaves. When it came time to pay, I mentioned this to the lady, and that I would therefore have liked to pay for a cherry tomato salad and not for the dish I had ordered. But to no avail, as upon leaving the restaurant, I looked at the bill and saw, to my dismay, that guest satisfaction isn't the restaurant's priority. I certainly wouldn't go to waste for two or three euros, but a small discount would have been appreciated. It's a shame because my husband and daughter said the first courses weren't bad, but when I return to Orvieto, I definitely won't choose Il Capitano del Popolo again.

The presentation of the dishes was also very beautiful 🤩. We'd be happy to return again – highly recommended! ✅
