According to many, myself included, the best Carbonara in Rome. In the trendy Monti district; reservations are not possible, so you might have to wait in line. You are seated on bar stools. No frills, very tasty food.

The food was good, the carbonara was delicious, and we ordered pork ribs which were amazing. The service from the staff was fantastic; however, I found the receptionist's attitude a bit harsh. He wasn't rude, but I think it's always good to communicate respectfully. We had a good experience overall.

The carbonara was a little salty but it was okay. They don't have a bathroom which I think is crazy, and the chairs don't have backrests which I find uncomfortable, but I have no complaints about the food.

Best pasta we ever had here! The carbonara was great, and so was the pesto. We also had a tiramisu which was great. The place is small, you will likely have to make a line, but it goes by fast. The wait is totally worth it. Staff is nice and friendly.

We arrived 5 minutes before lunch opened at 12:30 on a Wednesday and there was already a small queue. The owner greeted everyone and explained how ordering worked and that he would let a few tables in at a time. We ordered the carbonara and Amatriciana, both were delicious and very filling!! We loved our meal which for the quality was great value and we found the staff very welcoming! Highly recommend, make sure to arrive before opening as it is popular!!

Absolutely loved the food here! Good portion size with reasonable pricing for the area. A must visit! The gnocchi was to die for, melt in the mouth perfection! The hostess and staff is also extremely welcoming and helpful. It was a lovely experience.

It was a restaurant where I felt really good because the server was kind!! It's a bit of a shame that there isn't a restroom, though ㅜㅜ Other than that, the food was delicious and it was a small and pretty place.

Stumbled across al42 while looking for somewhere good near the Colosseum and so glad we did. I had the daily special - tagliolini all'orata with cherry tomatoes, oregano and lemon zest - honestly one of the best things I've eaten in Italy, and we've been travelling for a week. My partner had the pesto tagliolini which was equally brilliant. The guy at the door was genuinely lovely - chatty, checked in on us during the meal, and even shared a fun fact about Bristol (where we're from) that we didn't know ourselves. You could tell he actually cared that we had a good time rather than just turning tables. Portions are generous, pasta is fresh, and prices are fair for the quality. We're going back tomorrow which says it all really. Don't walk past this place.
