The best carbonara I ate in Rome; plus the friendliness of the Italian who greets you and the chef!!! If you're in Rome, go to the Monti neighborhood. It's really worth it!!!

We visited Al 42 by Pasta Chef in the Rione Monti neighborhood today while vacationing from Atlanta, GA, and it is truly a pasta heaven!
If you're looking for authentic Italian street food with incredible flavor, this is a must-visit. Every pasta dish was fresh, perfectly cooked, and packed with rich, authentic flavors that exceeded our expectations.
Be prepared to wait in line for a table, as it's a very popular spot—but don't let that discourage you. The food is absolutely worth the wait, and you won't regret it.
If you're visiting Rome, make sure to add Al42 by Pasta Chef (Rione Monti) to your list. We'd definitely come back!

Comfortably the best pastas we had on our 2 weeks road trip in Italy. Possibly the best of my life. So good we had to go back and grab a take-away the next day. Great staff!

The host was so lovely! He explained to us that he would change our seating as soon as a better place came available. It was very busy (and I can understand why!) It was well worth the wait. The food was fresh, and delicious. My partner had a prawn pasta, and I had the vegetable one. I cannot explain how great they tasted, and was presented really well. I want to go back to Italy just to come back here! 🐷🤤
