10/07/2025: It's difficult to put into words the experience of Piani: a place that, in the elegant heart of Parioli, manages to combine the authentic freshness of the sea with a warm yet discreet welcome. I had the pleasure of sitting at their table and being surprised by a raw fish dish that, without exaggeration, I would call one of the best I've ever tasted in Rome: excellent raw ingredients, selected with obsessive care, and presented in a simple, unfussy way, because when the fish is truly fresh, nothing else is needed. The quality of the catch is evident in every bite, from the raw fish to the other fish dishes, all built around a clear concept: highlighting the raw ingredients without overpowering them. Each course arrives at the table at the perfect moment, with a delicacy that reflects the extraordinary attention of the entire wait staff: professional, smiling, attentive to every detail, but never intrusive. You can sense the passion of those who wanted to create a place where the experience is not just gastronomic but human: here you feel truly pampered, from the welcome to the last sip of wine. It's no coincidence that those who love good fish and quality raw fish know that they can always find a guarantee at Piani.

28/08/2025: Unfortunately, it was a dinner I won't remember. The gratin mussels, which I only discovered were Spanish afterward, as the waiter explained it to another table, were completely overshadowed by the gratin cheese. The fried mussels weren't fried, they were boiled (I'll leave you a photo). The bill, in my opinion, was excessive for the quality, which, alas, I didn't find in the dishes. The positives: the staff were friendly throughout the service, the homemade cake was delicious, and the fennel liqueur they kindly gave us for free.

This family-run restaurant has been around for decades and continues to uphold the same incredibly high standards of quality and care that date back to when the owner’s mother used to cook in the kitchen. When you imagine a true Italian trattoria—where everything is handmade, from the prosciutto and pasta to the sauces and desserts—this is exactly what comes to mind. There’s no cutting corners here. Every bite reflects a legacy of passion and tradition that’s increasingly rare to find. This restaurant also holds a deeply personal meaning for our family. My Nono used to walk over an hour from his house just to eat here, swearing they made the best tripe he’d ever had. This summer, we returned to Torrice for a family reunion and decided to honour his memory by making a reservation for 13 of us—grandparents, siblings, and grandkids included. It turned out to be one of the most memorable meals of our entire trip. The food was off-the-charts spectacular. From the handmade pasta to the generous antipasti, everything was bursting with flavour and clearly made with care. The wine flowed, the service was warm and attentive, and the desserts capped things off perfectly. We ordered so much food and loved it so much that we ended up staying far longer than planned—just so we could enjoy every last bite. The tripe was, of course, a standout. My parents both ordered it in tribute to Nono, and after just one taste, they completely understood why he used to walk so far to get it. They were so impressed, they each ordered seconds—not because they were still hungry, but because it was simply too good to pass up. Trattoria da Sestilio isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a living piece of culinary history, full of warmth, tradition, and soul. Whether you have roots in the area or are just passing through, this is one of those special places that leaves a lasting impression. We can’t wait to return.

20/07/2025: I went today with friends, and we had a great time! The place is a traditional trattoria, with fresh handmade pasta. The Sunday cannelloni were delicious! The sour cherry tart was out of this world. They offer—and be warned, offer—bruschetta as an appetizer and sweet treats at the end. The owner welcomed us into his home (literally, back in the day, it's a great story, ask him!), and the staff were kind and friendly, and the service was fast. The price was fair and reasonable (generous portions!) I had a starter, a main course, red and white wine, dessert, coffee, liqueur, water, and cover charge—all for €30. In Rome, I would have paid €50 and eaten less. We'll gladly return!

04/08/2025: A wonderful discovery on our first stay in Ustica. The fish was top-quality, divinely prepared, and the service was excellent. Well-deserved compliments to everyone; it was a pleasure to return the next evening.

01/08/2025: I was in Ustica the first week of July with my boyfriend! We ate at this restaurant on two evenings. Excellent service, a nice Sicilian wine list with excellent wine pairing recommendations. The fresh grouper tartare was excellent, as were the fried Ustica shrimp, and why not, their special menu item created especially for us (🫣). The sea-view terrace is perfect for a romantic dinner... 21/07/2025: When you book a meal from 15,900 km away, you hope that when the date and time arrives, the meal lives up to expectation. Moma more than delivered on all fronts. From the amuse-bouche and chef's snacks, the entrees, mains, pre-dessert, dessert, wines and petite fours on top of the ambience and excellent service, this was a very memorable and special meal in Rome. There was attention to detail, flair, exceptional flavours and beautiful presentation at every turn. Accompanied by Bresolin Asolo Prosecco DOCG to start, a 2020 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG Signore del Greppo Vannutelli and a 2021 Marco de Bartoli 'Bukkuram' Passito di Pantelleria with dessert, the wine selection and choices were perfect. Between us we had the sweetbreads diavola with plum ketchup, garlic and basic, the tortellini peach and basil, and the warm spaghettino with olive oil, onion reduction and goat's cheese. Each was well proportioned and tasty. Mains were BBQ pigeon with suprema sauce and dukka, the sheep loin in crepinette parmigiana with cream and miso mayonnaise, and the grilled octopus, tomato variations, with Mexican tarragon. Desserts were delicious, too, and the dishes named lemon vanilla and licorice and caramel popcorn don't really give a full impression of their complexity. So many mouthfuls of all the dishes were shared before adding in in the extras like pecorino ice cream between wafers and foie gras and other assorted goodies - another six tastes to share - and the flavours kept on coming. I thoroughly recommend Moma. It may not be in one of the trendier locations, but it doesn't need to be when the quality speaks for itself! Thank you Moma, for the exquisite and memorable dining experience.
