22/04/2026: We booked this restaurant based on the excellent reviews and were not disappointed. The very kind chef offered us a truly excellent all-fish menu. He prepared hot and cold appetizers, followed by calamarata, and for the shared main course, a truly delicious sea bass with artichokes. The fried sweets filled with sheep's milk ricotta were delicious, as per Sardinian tradition. The house white wine from a local producer was excellent. The bill was €55 per person.

We visited Purgatorio back in 2024 and chose this restaurant then and there. Small but perfectly formed! We weren't disappointed! In addition to the regular menu, you can also choose from three set menus with different courses and order either fish or meat. We opted for the fish menu – and it was outstanding!! That's why we were so keen to return. And this time, we weren't disappointed either!
The menu was superbly composed: three beautifully presented appetizers, an excellent main course with fresh fish, and a wonderful tiramisu to finish. Everything was perfectly balanced in flavor and prepared with great care.
We would especially like to highlight the quality of the ingredients, the pleasant atmosphere, and the friendly service. You can tell that the food is cooked with passion.
For us, it's definitely one of those restaurants you'll want to return to when you're in Sardinia. A definite recommendation for all fish lovers!

24/05/2026: The food was very well prepared; we ordered pasta, which was cooked to perfection, and octopus with a special sauce—everything was exquisite.
Small portions and quite expensive prices.
The place is lovely, with a small terrace on the second floor. Food is served on the first floor, and they are very accommodating for people with mobility issues.
There is a wine cellar on the ground floor.
The waitress was friendly and courteous, and we didn't have to wait long for our food, although the restaurant was practically empty, which is unusual for the area and for it being a Sunday.

Tucked away in the historic centre of Alghero, it offers a warm, elegant setting that feels both intimate and special. The highlight is the beautiful small roof terrace, a secluded spot with a glass‑sectioned floor that gives the space a unique charm and a sense of lightness above the old town.
The service was impeccable — attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable, and genuinely proud of the food they serve. This echoes what so many reviewers mention: a team that elevates the experience through professionalism and warmth.
The food itself was exceptional, with the same precision and creativity that diners consistently praise online. We had Essence of the Sea (Lightly smoked roasted octopus, cream potatoes, sea essence, crunchy celery, black olives, sesame and juniper shade), a beautifully balanced dish - tender octopus with subtle smokiness, lifted by the freshness of celery and the depth of the juniper; and Juniper Shade (Beef fillet, caramelised red onion, salad with mustard dressing, juniper marrow jus). Perfectly cooked, rich and aromatic, with the juniper marrow jus adding a luxurious depth.
Across both courses, the flavours were clean, confident, and thoughtfully composed - exactly the kind of cooking that earns Al Tuguri its reputation as one of Alghero’s standout dining destinations.

10/06/2026: Superb experience - Marino and the rest of the staff were perfect hosts, warm but relaxed, attentive but giving you space to enjoy your meal. The food was fantastic, and the attention to detail was brilliant - when my wife and I shared a dish, instead of bringing out the dish for us both to enjoy, it was split and beautifully presented across two plates. Would absolutely recommend for anyone looking for a special experience in Cagliari. Grazie tutti!
02/06/2026: Beware of tourist traps! We absolutely cannot understand the previous, overwhelmingly positive reviews. The food here is simply overpriced and not good. They serve tiny portions, the filling of the tortelloni was an unidentifiable, dry mass, and the fish carpaccio tasted of nothing. Only the lamb was edible, albeit a bit too rare. Definitely not recommended for a high-quality gourmet evening in beautiful Cagliari. Only the service was very attentive, but unfortunately, this did not compensate for the abysmal quality of the food.

Here, I always find serenity, authenticity, and human warmth. The welcome is genuine, the atmosphere exudes peace, and every detail speaks of love for the people and the land.
The talented chef Salvina manages to bring not only excellent flavors to the table, but the entire soul of Sardinia, passionately showcasing the aromas, colors, and traditions of our land. Each dish tells a story of quality, care, and authenticity.
In this place, you can also sense something special and difficult to explain: the presence of Fabrizio De André. It is felt in the air, in the silence, in the landscapes, and in the very soul of this corner of Sardinia that he chose to live, love, and find inspiration for some of his most beautiful songs. It is a discreet yet vibrant presence, which makes the experience even more intense and meaningful.
But the value of this place also comes from the entire staff, whose professionalism, helpfulness, and genuine smiles contribute to creating a special atmosphere, where you feel welcomed and at ease from the very first moment.

05/06/2026: When you dream of finding that one amazing restaurant while you're visiting Italy... you've found it, it's Taberna Santona.
I walked in on a Friday evening not long after they opened. I'd read many great reviews and was nervous that the place would be fully booked, but to my surprise there was a choice of tables both inside and outside.
All the staff spoke Italian with me and one server even kindly told me I spoke well, which I really appreciated because it means a lot to hear that from a native speaker. Everyone was pleasant, no one seemed impatient or uncaring. Tourists were treated as kindly as locals. Staff checked in a few times to see how everything was, including the owner (I think) who seemed genuinely pleased to hear that people were enjoying their food.
I had the insalata normanna, which was an interesting mix of things i never would've thought to combine in one dish, but it worked very well. I thought the onion was a little overpowering but that was a minor detail. I then had the couscous Carlofortina which was also quite good. Both dishes were light yet still enough to make for a solid meal.
Everyone raves about the chocolate cake, rightfully so because it was so good I got a second piece to bring with me. Get it with caramel and whipped cream. I'm not normally a caramel fan but i impulsively said yes when asked if i wanted it. this caramel tasted divine, not like it came from a jar. All the desserts are homemade too. The people seated next to me were talking about how delicious the panna cotta was.
Places like these are what you'll remember months and years after your visit, and i hope to be able to come back soon. Grazie mille per tutto 😋🍽🩷

09/06/2026: Recommended by friends, and we can confirm that the food is truly delicious. It's a small place with just a few tables, so it's best to book a few days in advance. The lady welcomed us very warmly and kindly, showing us to a table on the veranda. We ate an appetizer for two, then moved on to the main courses and finished with dessert. Everything was delicious. The service was quick and impeccable...we'll definitely be back.

From the moment you walk through the door, they make you feel right at home, and if you're lucky enough to be served by Jemmat, the experience is simply sublime! 28/03/2026: The I Frati Rossi restaurant was a delightful discovery. For an evening with friends, we chose an excellent seafood tasting menu. The menu started very promisingly with two appetizers: amberjack and salmon carpaccio, artichokes, and bottarga. Next up were seafood and truffle ravioli and grouper paccheri, all delicious. For the main course, a mixed fried platter of shrimp, calamari, fish, and mixed vegetables. Delicious, especially because it was so light! To finish, dessert: meringue and strawberry ice cream.
We will definitely be back to try the à la carte menu.

05/04/2026: Too bad, everything was perfect up until the appetizer, except for the eggplant parmigiana, which...
The two first courses, one good, the gnocchi, and the other I'd call mediocre...
But when we got to our second courses, the disappointments began. The mutton was fatty, and we don't know if it could have been better, but the porceddu wasn't cooked properly, actually a bit raw, and you could tell by the rind that it wasn't Kraut. Too bad.
Service was okay.
Prices a bit high.

Luckily, we brought our own wine.
21/03/2026: I decided to go there a bit earlier, and during my three-week road trip around my beloved homeland Sardinia, this was probably my most satisfying meal. Everything was excellent—the food, the staff, and the location all came together for a truly great Sardinian experience. I’ll definitely be back.
