24/02/2026: A popular nightlife spot in Matera. It's the perfect place to meet someone or simply spend an evening with friends. The cocktails are the highlight, and there are plenty. The price reflects the high quality of the preparations. The food is equally excellent, and is more of a side dish than a dinner. The location in the Sassi district holds its own against its competitors.

12/04/2026: I should point out that I only used the restaurant service. I had a family lunch with a fixed menu for €38: everything was delicious, varied, plentiful, and locally sourced. The atmosphere is welcoming and ideal, especially for children, given the rides and animals. You can also purchase their homemade products on site. Piera, whom we interacted with, was truly wonderful and helpful. She even helped our little son repot some basil. We'll see you again soon!

16/03/2026: My experience at this restaurant was extremely positive. I searched online for restaurants in Matera and, fortunately, I chose this one based on a hunch. A very charming place among the Sassi... clean and quiet. The atmosphere is lovely. The young man who served us was courteous, kind, and friendly; it was a real pleasure dealing with him. We ordered a local appetizer, a plate of orecchiette, a sliced ​​meat, and a dessert. Everything was excellent and with attention to detail. Prices were completely reasonable. Service was prompt. Quick enough and welcoming. I recommend it and hope to return!

14/04/2026: An excellent restaurant in Matera's old town. We were seated upstairs in a charming, large vaulted room. Both the appetizers and our main courses were delicious—the only slight drawback was that one of the dishes was far too salty. Superb Italian wine list. Highly recommended.

The space is divided into two L-shaped rooms; the larger one is crowded, while the other is significantly better, except for the table near the internal door, which definitely needs to be eliminated. 10/05/2026: We came from Mexico, arriving in Matera hungry and without a reservation (many places in Italy require one). We went in here and it was fantastic. Even though I come from the American continent where we eat a lot of meat, I can assure you that I ate the best meat of my life at this restaurant—so much so that I ordered seconds!

01/04/2026: My wife and son and I were in the beautiful city of Matera last week, and right below our B&B, we decided, at the recommendation of many locals, to try this excellent restaurant. We started with the traditional peperoni cruschi, then moved on to the excellent orecchiette with mushrooms and sausage and a traditional soup. But the real masterpiece was the dish that gives the restaurant its name: the Pignata. A pan covered in oven-baked bread containing tender and delicious sheep cooked for 18 hours with potatoes and carrots. We finished with a delicious, crunchy and bitter dessert. 07/04/2026: I dined two evenings at this wonderful little restaurant right in the city center, just steps from Piazza Vittorio Veneto. The charcuterie and cheese platter was excellent and plentiful, as were the other dishes we ate. Excellent value for money. Vito and Michele were friendly, professional, and kind. Highly recommended!

03/05/2026: The atmosphere was great and the food was very tasty. I would have given a high rating if they hadn’t forgotten my order. After a long wait, they told me “just 3 minutes,” but those 3 minutes turned into another 20. Everyone else at the table had already finished their meals. It wasn’t a pleasant experience.

04/05/2026: My husband, our two children, and I dined at this restaurant last night after a busy day spent walking among the Sassi of Matera. We were greeted by kind and attentive staff, with prompt service. The pizza was excellent, the fries were special, and the "sausage of the beggar" was delicious. My husband and I ordered it first, followed by a portion of Van Gogh bruschetta—exceptional! The owner, Bartolomeo, was exceptionally kind, making us feel at home and pampered. Before leaving, I confided in him about my passion for Vincent Van Gogh. He accompanied me into the dining room, which, surprisingly, was decorated with wonderful reproductions of Van Gogh's paintings. He proudly told me about them and showed me the wines, which bear artistic labels. What more can I say?! Between the deliciousness of the dishes, the beauty of the setting, and the owner's extraordinary kindness, it was an experience that left us with a wonderful feeling of well-being! If we ever return to Matera, we'll definitely eat here, with the pleasure of greeting Bartolomeo and savoring more of his delicacies!!!! Ps: fair prices and generous portions.
