07/12/2025: We were very satisfied! The ice cream was delicious. There was a bit of a wait, but that's normal for summer.

27/11/2025: Gelato Marco – Hands-down the best gelato in Trieste! (May 2025) After reading dozens of reviews before our trip, Gelato Marco was the clear winner… and it completely lived up to the hype! The queue stretching down Via Malcanton is the first clue you’re in the right place. Creamy, intense flavours (the pistachio is pure green gold, the chocolate extra-dark and decadent, the fruit sorbets taste like they were made five minutes ago). Generous portions, friendly service even when it’s packed, and prices that feel almost too fair for this quality. We were 4 and tried 10 flavours – every single one was perfection. If you only have gelato once in Trieste, make it here. Worth every second of the wait!

17/01/2026: Good pizza, and a simple atmosphere. The 4 stars are because the desserts were too sweet and the decaf coffee I had was the worst I've ever had; it was watered down.

23/03/2026: This place was truly a wonderful discovery. Its location is ideal: a quiet corner just steps from one of the city's busiest streets. Upon entering, you find yourself in a small space (I recommend making a reservation, especially for dinner), but it's very well-kept and comfortable. The menu features a few home-style dishes, perfectly prepared yet elegant. The desserts are homemade and absolutely worth trying. The service is also excellent. As for the prices, while you might expect a little less, in my opinion, besides being worth it, you have to consider the overall offering.

23/03/2026: A dinner for two to sample Friulian dishes. Everything was good. The portions were perhaps a little on the small side. The service was kind and friendly. The place is small, so it can be difficult to find a table. Reservations are recommended.

27/02/2026: Fantastic! A true Indian restaurant, with excellent food and very friendly and helpful staff. I stop there for dinner every time I'm in Trieste. They also have plenty of vegetarian and non-spicy options.

19/02/2026: Really good food, excellent service, friendly and helpful staff, fair prices, a simple restaurant, and clean and hygienic restrooms. I recommend trying it because it's definitely worth it.

20/11/2025: On Saturday, November 15, 2025, a friend and I were looking for a typical Trieste place where we could eat a good hot ham sandwich and some other delicacies, as true Triestine people often do. Luckily, the 5 or 6 places we usually go to were all closed... it was 2:45 PM... I say fortunately because when we arrived at Barriera, we looked at each other and said together, "Let's go there," seeing everything open. We found all the staff professional, friendly, and welcoming, and they seated us with a smile. We immediately ordered 2 ham and eggplant sandwiches, which were amazing, 1 ham and gorgonzola, which was even better, 2 beers, and 300 grams of ham for home, since just the thought of having already finished it made your mouth water, and all at a very fair total price. We used to go to 5 or 6 places for years, now we'll only go to one place... "Salumeria a mano" Go there and you'll hit the mark. Congratulations to everyone Staff...Alessandro and Rea will be back to you very soon.

11/01/2026: Truly excellent pizzeria in every way. The pizzas are made with fresh, quality ingredients, and the dough is light. The homemade desserts are excellent, with generous portions. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the service is quick. Highly recommended. Free parking is available.

21/11/2025: We arrived after a flight from Spain, an excellent way to start our trip through Italy! Delicious food, great atmosphere and service :)

12/09/2025: The place is quaint, and you can eat outside in the courtyard, shaded by the trees. Service is fast, and the owners are attentive and courteous. The food is all authentic and high-quality; the cured meats and cheeses are excellent, as are the vegetables and crostini. The desserts are delicious. The prices are very fair. Definitely worth trying again. Reservations are recommended, as it's always crowded during opening hours.

26/08/2025: A wonderful experience, for the food (excellent quality cured meats, cheeses, bread, and desserts!), for the setting (the courtyard of a country house... like being with family!), for the punctual service (very fast, despite the many guests!), for the serene and joyful atmosphere that enriched our holiday! 11/03/2026: It's a bit noisy, but the food is great and it attracts people. As a huge plus, I would point out that I made a reservation outside of working hours and it was confirmed. There is a modest level of service, and they definitely deserve more.

08/03/2026: We went during our lunch break and ate well at reasonable prices, the pizzas were excellent.

12/02/2026: Delicious food for the soul, you can truly feel it’s made with passion and care. We tried the tripe, the guancia, and some artichokes, and everything was absolutely yummy! 😋 If we come back to Trieste, this place will definitely be a must for us again.
