We enter and are swallowed up in a chaos of objects. There are some on the walls and just as many on the ceiling. You immediately breathe the air of a confused past in a not exactly accepted present. Like a Monicelli film, we find living people inside. The voices mix loudly with the sound of a guitar plucked by a minstrel who is actually a customer who spends his time there. It's an Arab market in Trieste, but the confusion is completely pleasant, the people all seem like old friends even if you understand that not everyone knows each other, maybe it's the wine, and then Eddi arrives, Edoardo the owner. We've never met before and he already treats us like we've been friends for years. He talks to us about his projects, about the Amazon, about who he is and who he was. He doesn't seem very interested in selling us anything, other than a book about the Amazon written by him. He wants to share something more than a dish. It wants to give us food for the soul. We sit down and order just two things, it's late and we don't want to create confusion in the kitchen even though Edoardo doesn't tell us anything. Like when you have an impromptu meal at grandma's and she brings out what she has with the old dishes from her wedding so it's there. All good, homemade. Experience to be redone. Anyone seeking the cold refinement of first class is prohibited from entering.

Excellent fish restaurant served in a very particular vintage setting.
Jazz music in the background.
Informal environment, excellent for a dinner with friends. Only note: the first courses were not very abundant.

It was the first time for me at this restaurant, and it will certainly not be the last one.
Edoardo has created something more than a restaurant, a singular but remarkably stimulating meeting point for live jazz lovers and fresh seafood connoisseurs.
The perfection of a relatively simple Barcolana says everything, no need to add any further comments about the seafood; even the dessert was excellent.
It did take me less than a minute to adjust to the eclectic interior, and even less to appreciate how real and genuine Edoardo and the people working there are. It is not just about seafood and music, it is about life.
I really appreciated and enjoyed my evening at the Antico Spazzacamino.
