06/06/2026: Hidden away outside the central tourist districts, Bistro 51 is a local restaurant that serves absolutely outstanding, elevated food. I was served a regional sparkling wine as soon as I sat down; the waiter brought me an amuse bouché as the first course; I ordered the delicate scallops antipasto with a potato cream; this was followed by shrimp pasta and then an absolutely superb filet of tenderloin beef. If that wasn't enough, I had a minty tiramisu-like dessert, followed by complimentary limoncello (and the waiter had brought out some bread earlier to supplement the main courses). I also had a lovely sauvignon blanc along with my meal. The waiter was kind, professional and had many nice suggestions. He even politely dealt with my limited Italian language skills. I am glad I had a 30 minute walk back to my apartment to walk off such an amazing meal. I am also glad I took a chance to experience such a wonderful restaurant off the beaten track. This is my new go-to place in Trieste.

08/05/2026: Finally found a gem again! A very charming restaurant with exceptionally friendly service. The food was fresh and flavorful, absolutely top-notch! I highly recommend the goulash! Tender and delicious!! And plenty of fresh toasted bread! I'll definitely be back!

03/05/2026: A well-designed and welcoming restaurant. Outside, there are three or four tables facing the entrance on Via della Madonnina, but inside, thanks to the well-arranged seating, it feels larger than it actually is. Service is efficient, and the kitchen is very quick in preparing dishes. The quality of both the meat and vegetables is excellent, and for a Serbian restaurant, the portions are larger than at other places. Need a little tip? Try the ajvar with any cut of meat; you won't regret it.

31/05/2026: A nautical yet sophisticated atmosphere welcomes you. The choice of gray, rather than the classic light blue, lends a touch of unpretentious elegance. All the furnishings are elegant and refined, even a slightly chic but perfectly fitting shark. The food: refined, satisfying, and absolutely delicious. All the flavors are kept authentic, without sauces overpowering them, revealing the freshness of the product itself. The staff is perfect, professional, and attentive. I absolutely recommend it.

31/05/2026: Every time my wife and I go to Trieste, we always eat at this beautiful restaurant, off the beaten path. Excellent ingredients, cooked with great care and skill. The dishes are tasty and well-executed. The service is very friendly and attentive. I had the air conditioning blasting, and they made sure it wasn't affected. The chef takes care to ensure the dishes are to your liking and is very courteous. In conclusion: a highly recommended restaurant.

09/05/2026: Those dumplings were truly amazing. No matter what we ordered, they were packed with flavours. We just couldn't stop ordering. We had a lot of dumplings in our lives but not as tasty as those ones. You could tell there were homemade with love. Highly recommend.

10/05/2026: The man who served us was kind and explained everything very well to us even though we didn't speak Italian. The atmosphere was cheerful and homely. There isn't much seating so be prepared to stand, don't let that put you off this place as it adds a special charm and atmosphere. The price is very fair and the food is delicious, something for everyone. There are also numerous wine and drink options.

14/05/2026: A classic place of wonderful consistency. Here, cherished traditions are still preserved with style and a deep love for authenticity. Triestine cuisine is celebrated in this restaurant. Jota, delicate gnocchi, wonderfully creamy fusi with chicken, roast with artichokes, veal shank... ohhh. Excellent wine selection from the region and beyond. Very attentive service and impeccable table manners. Bravo!

09/02/2026: It was a nice winter dinner at the end of the year in Modesto 😌 The pizza was delicious. One can choose the "tipo di farina" that is the type of flour for the pizza dough (only 2€ extra). The atmosphere was cozy and warm. We enjoyed the desserts too (torta della nonna, crema catalana). The decoration with ship models is charming. Overall, it was a wonderful experience in Modesto. I strongly recommend this pizzeria. 🙃
