Three friends on vacation in Trieste for a few days dined here twice, but only because by the third night there was no room left. The restaurant is small and welcoming, with a traditional and delicious menu, and attentive service with a composed smile. I think I'll remember the vinegar salami for a long time: a truly excellent, bold flavor. The Blecs, on the other hand, are delicate and flavorful with a farmyard ragù: truly excellent. The gubana with grappa is also delicious. We're truly sad to live so far away: this simple, welcoming restaurant with a splendid menu will remain one of my fondest memories of Trieste!

Hostaria Strehler offers excellent traditional Trieste dishes. It's quite small and very welcoming, and the staff is friendly and ready to meet your needs.

Best dining experience in Italy! Such a cool small traditional restaurant, the woman serving was attentive and wonderful, the wine was lovely and the food was absolutely fantastic.
The gnocchi was so tasty and the tiramisu was one of the better ones we’ve had in our time in Italy.
Important to book in advance, as the place starts to really fill up after 8pm.
Overall 5/5, 10/10 would recommend and return

A very authentic restaurant. The pasta is excellent and the portions are generous. Reservations are highly recommended; it's well worth it.

I had just arrived in Trieste, and was immediately greeted with kindness and excellent dishes. The goulash was the highlight, but also the chocolate and chili pepper cake (gluten-free, a rarity). All this, surrounded by the history of Italian theater. A must-try!
