12/01/2026: Truly impeccable service, the two of them served the entire place really quickly! The food was plentiful and delicious! The prices were fair and the place was very quaint, with tables well-arranged! They were excellent! Go there!

The food is wonderful.
We've been going to this Chinese restaurant for decades now and we never go anywhere else.
They don't even put MSG in the place.
For me, it's the best.

28/02/2026: If you're looking for a slice of Sicily in Trieste, Taverna Montalbano is an excellent choice. The atmosphere is typical of old-fashioned trattorias, where substance matters more than form. The spaghetti with clams was fresh and flavorful, but the real highlight was the fettuccine with shrimp and pistachios.
The only area that could be improved is the thermal comfort during the winter: unfortunately, many customers forget to leave the front door open when entering or leaving, allowing cold drafts to bleed through, which can be quite annoying for those eating nearby. Overall, it's still a very positive experience that I recommend to anyone seeking well-crafted, passionate Southern cuisine.
24/02/2026: Very nice taverna, with excellent food and service. The staff was really friendly, the food was really good. I would recommend visiting, and trying the scallops for starter they are great!

19/01/2026: Hidden gem that's mostly visited by locals. The food is delicious. I had the bruschetta and the pasta tricolore which was full of flavour. It's a shame I didn't discover this until the last day of my trip. Would definitely recommend.

13/02/2026: We had a spectacular meal here. Probably the best meal we had in 3 weeks travelling through Italy. Everything is impeccable, from the traditional Friulian food to the lovely wines and beautiful service. An absolute delight.

The frico and the salami in vinegar were good.
I wouldn't recommend it.

27/02/2026: We stopped by chance for lunch, and I must say it was a stroke of luck and a wonderful surprise. The atmosphere feels like home, the kind you don't even find anymore. You're greeted by a sense of warmth, a sense of care, where time seems to stand still. Each dish is a journey rich in sensations, experiences, and flavors, with fresh fish taking center stage, paired with refined wines. Excellent value for money.
For those looking for a place that's different from the usual restaurants lacking identity and soul, I highly recommend stopping here. You'll definitely be back, even if you're not from the area like us.

23/12/2025: They specifically ordered this ice cream, I liked everything, it was delicious. Three liquid with two spikes came out to 10 euros. Pear - delicious and unusual, cherry, walnut, pistachio and strachitelo - in order of preference. Very tasty and the service is pleasant 🤗
