29/05/2026: A very charming and well-kept place, perfect for a lovely evening! Rich and beautifully presented platters, traditional cuisine, and truly delicious sandwiches. The polenta, cheeses, and traditional cured meats are also excellent. Special mention goes to the attentive service given to a colleague of ours with food intolerances: they found a suitable solution, allowing him to enjoy his dinner without any problems. Good cocktails and a pleasant atmosphere. Recommended!

20/11/2025: On Saturday, November 15, 2025, a friend and I were looking for a typical Trieste place where we could eat a good hot ham sandwich and some other delicacies, as true Triestine people often do. Luckily, the 5 or 6 places we usually go to were all closed... it was 2:45 PM... I say fortunately because when we arrived at Barriera, we looked at each other and said together, "Let's go there," seeing everything open. We found all the staff professional, friendly, and welcoming, and they seated us with a smile. We immediately ordered 2 ham and eggplant sandwiches, which were amazing, 1 ham and gorgonzola, which was even better, 2 beers, and 300 grams of ham for home, since just the thought of having already finished it made your mouth water, and all at a very fair total price. We used to go to 5 or 6 places for years, now we'll only go to one place... "Salumeria a mano" Go there and you'll hit the mark. Congratulations to everyone Staff...Alessandro and Rea will be back to you very soon.

29/04/2026: Maybe we ordered the wrong items—the ones people usually praise here—but unfortunately, we didn’t enjoy them. The coffee wasn’t very good, the tiramisu was overly frozen and had too much cream, and I didn’t like the Napoli sandwich. There weren’t many people in the café, and the service speed was average. Instead of the beer we ordered, they brought us a cola—how could that even happen? The staff don’t speak English, and we don’t speak Italian, so I honestly don’t understand how “beer” turned into “cola.” Reviews say the pizza here is good, and maybe it is, but without an English menu, even using a translator we couldn’t manage to order it 😂

28/05/2026: Angelina is a wonderful place, where everything makes sense. Since we discovered it, we've eaten delicious canestrelli, fried sardines, creamed cod, pasta, fried calamari (last time we had seconds!), and desserts... What desserts! A beautiful place, run with so much love.

15/05/2026: I often come here with friends for an aperitif and a chat, and it's always a pleasant confirmation. The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed, perfect for both a quiet evening and a relaxed social gathering. The staff is always friendly, professional, and helpful, with quick and friendly service that truly makes the difference. Prices are absolutely average, and the quality-price ratio is excellent. The outdoor tables are also very comfortable, especially on nice days, and there's parking nearby, which isn't always a given. A place I'd happily recommend for an aperitif with friends or simply to spend some time in a pleasant atmosphere.

12/05/2026: After checking reviews and websites, I went to this restaurant with its well-deserved reputation. I spent the afternoon perusing their menu, which looked interesting, and my attention was drawn to the spider crab cicche 😍 So, around 8 pm, I arrived at the restaurant and immediately felt the local atmosphere envelop me. The decor is a mix of support for the local team and engravings and paintings depicting life in Trieste. A charmingly chaotic atmosphere and a barely electronic cash register were winning me over! The server greeted me with a smile and genuine warmth! The decor, the friendly service, and the other customers, all locals, were already whetting my appetite! That's it, I'm here, a local institution, everything I love! The waiter brought me the menu, and before I even had a chance to look at it, he informed me that there was no spider crab cicche that evening… The horror!!! What am I saying? The devastation! Seeing the profound sadness this news had caused me, he had the intelligence and immediate professionalism to offer me the same cicche with zucchini and sea bream. Initially hesitant, I decided to give it a try. I then opted for a fritto misto (mine had squid, sardines, and red mullet—it was excellent! From the photos on the website, I also get the impression that it changes depending on the season and the day's catch ❤️), followed by a presnitz, a local dessert, for dessert! I don't know what to say; I was transported. The cicche (small local gnocchi) completely captivated me, and everything else was just as good! Nothing is off the mark, nothing is deceiving, it's real food. When you eat there, you really eat! So thank you! And I can only recommend that you rush there when you're in Trieste!

16/05/2026: A quaint little place, with limited seating, and very good food. Friendly and attentive staff. The menu is listed verbally by the owner, so you'll have to ask for the price of each course; it's not the best. Free and paid parking nearby.

23/12/2025: They specifically ordered this ice cream, I liked everything, it was delicious. Three liquid with two spikes came out to 10 euros. Pear - delicious and unusual, cherry, walnut, pistachio and strachitelo - in order of preference. Very tasty and the service is pleasant 🤗

08/06/2026: Well, the people of Trieste aren't exactly known for their friendliness. But in this restaurant, there's a wonderful hostess who, with courtesy and attentiveness to her guests, offers advice and guidance on the menu. The fish is incredibly fresh and well-cooked according to tradition, with more than generous portions.

07/06/2026: While looking for somewhere to eat in Trieste, we stumbled upon this small restaurant, and just looking at the photos online, we were intrigued by one dish in particular: the goulash. We were so intrigued that we decided to walk about twenty minutes to try it. The place is quite small, and you can immediately sense a familiar, welcoming atmosphere. Although reservations were recommended, we tried anyway and were lucky to get a table. We started with an appetizer to share, which we found very good, and then moved on to the dish that had convinced us to come all the way: the goulash. I must say, it was worth it. Flavorful, tender, and truly delicious, accompanied by an excellent mashed potato that paired perfectly with the dish. It was one of those dishes we'll fondly remember long after we return home. We also tried the gratin stuffed mushrooms, which were very good and well-prepared. Simple yet carefully crafted dishes that convey the feeling of authentic, genuine cuisine. When we're particularly satisfied with a dinner, we usually indulge in dessert, and this time was no exception. The desserts were also excellent and rounded off the evening perfectly. I also really appreciated the atmosphere of the restaurant: simple, authentic, and unpretentious, yet with the care that makes guests feel welcome. A place that left us with very fond memories and that I'd gladly recommend to anyone visiting Trieste. Sometimes it's worth venturing a little further from the more touristy areas to find places like this. If we were to return to the city, we'd definitely stop by again.

23/04/2026: I had the orecchiette with turnip tops and they were very good... very good 🥰 quite spicy (I like it very spicy, but if anyone isn't used to it, now be warned 🙂) The portion was generous, but I didn't leave even a crumb. Compliments to the chef 😊
