11/08/2024: Se siete amanti della carne, questo ristorante fa per voi! Si nota subito che c'è competenza, che c'è esperienza e che tutto quello che assaggerete non vi deluderà. Noi abbiamo scelto l'antipasto degustazione per due persone e l'abbiamo comodamente diviso in tre. Sublime la tartare, gustosi gli assaggi di prosciutto e interessante la ricotta coi filetti di acciuga. A seguire, 1,5 kg di fiorentina locale eccellente: cottura perfetta, morbida e saporita. Accompagnata da ottime patate al forno. Servizio cortese e attento, molto accogliente lo chef, che passa ad ogni tavolo per scambiare qualche parola e offrire il bicchierino della staffa. Conto più che adeguato alla qualità. Noi con un calice di Bolgheri, tre bottiglie d'acqua, due dessert molto buoni e un caffè, abbiamo speso € 148. Torneremo, per la carne ovvio, ma anche per assaggiare i primi piatti che avevano un gran bell'aspetto.

29/08/2024: evening at Osteria Il Re Gallo, Castellina in Chianti Our afternoon stroll through the picturesque town of Castellina in Chianti, which was supposed to end with ice cream, unexpectedly led us to Osteria Il Re Gallo. 🍝 It was almost 7 p.m., the perfect time for dinner, so after a long walk we started looking for a place where we could eat something. In tourist towns, where crowds of people wander the streets, we usually choose restaurants in more secluded places. Reason? Our dog, who is a bit anxious, feels better in quieter areas. Do you know this? 🐾 This time we chose Osteria, whose tables were located on the corner of the street, right next to the park. We looked inside to see if we could eat something without making a reservation. Fortunately, even though the restaurant didn't open until 30 minutes later, i.e. at 7:30 p.m., we managed to get a table for two people (plus a dog). At the appointed time we sat down to dinner. The first surprise - the girl serving us spoke a little Polish, which was a nice surprise. It turned out that she grew up in the Czech Republic. We ordered dishes from the menu, and of course house wine - but tempted by the recommendation of our caregiver, we first tried tortellini with truffles. What a delight for the palate it was! 😋 Then the pasta was served. The dishes were not only tasty, but also served at the perfect time - the staff was smiling all the time and ready to help. And an interesting fact. During dinner, overhearing the conversation of an American family at a neighboring table, we learned that the wine list includes a unique red Chianti called "Super Toscana", which is a favorite among guests from the USA. Sounds interesting, right? 🍷 And one more thing - in the name of Osteria Il Gallo - it means a rooster. YES, the one in the glass and found throughout the Chianti region as a symbol of the region. ℹ️ Practical information • Reservation: Regardless of the day of the week, it is worth it reserve a table. 📅 This is a city visited often by tourists • Prices: Dishes from 8 to 25 Euro. House wine – 8 Euro for ½ liter. Coperto 2 Euro per person. • Dogs: Welcome, but watch out for cats sometimes they are walking nearby. 🐶🐱 • Opening hours: 12:30-15:00 and 19:30-22:00. 🕒 • We leave cars in external parking lots, in designated places. We reach the centro storico on foot - slightly uphill Osteria Il Re Gallo is a place worth visiting if you are looking for excellent food, a friendly atmosphere and charming surroundings. 28/07/2024: I arrived here thanks to the reviews I read and I can only confirm the goodness of this place. Friendly, approachable but always very professional staff. The food is excellent. Picci, paccheri, onion soup and above all the Florentine. Everything excellent, everything quality. Eating typical food in their restaurant was an experience to be recommended. 5 stars for everything!

14/08/2024: Great experience! We ordered the steak which was juicy and tender.The lady serving was very friendly, and she guided us to the perfect meal. The little balcony overlooking the Tuscan hills is such a nice spot. I can only recommend!

22/08/2024: The food and service and ambience was amazing until my entree came out. My husband and I ordered the steak for two. I told the waitress I like it medium or pink. The steak came out rare which was fine for my husband so I sent some back and asked to have it cooked just a little more for me. Well 15 minutes later the waitress is avoiding our table and see her practically in tears inside. Finally one of the other waiters brought the steak cooked to the point it was unedible. Apparently the chef wanted to teach both me and the waitress a lesson. So unprofessional and pathetic. Way too many choices in the area to be treated like I shouldn’t have my food cooked the way I enjoy it. Keep your ego in check. Would not recommend and will not return

17/08/2024: In 2024 I believe it is one of the few taverns/trattorias still in existence worthy and honorable of this name. Exquisite food, more than perfect price (water for 1 euro and I've said it all) and excellent staff. Book because it is small but truly a jewel.

06/08/2024: Listen, if you listen to 1 Florence review - this is the one. I’ve worked in the service industry for 15+ years and this is one of the best food experiences I’ve had in quite some time. We stumbled upon this place after watching the sunset at piazzale Michelangelo - it is a 10-15 minute walk or so. Our server Alex was very passionate about the food and incredibly knowledgeable about the food and wine of Florence. The entire staff was extremely accommodating and kind. Their kindness and generosity made our night. The food was incredible - the papardelle with duck ragu, gnochetti, filet, and tiramisu were some of our favorites. We ordered family style and were not disappointed with a single dish. We tried some rare grappa (be careful - you can breathe fire with this stuff) and the best limoncello I’ve ever had. 10/10 - favorite meal of the trip. Ask for Alex - he won’t lead you astray.

18/08/2024: Small typical Tuscan tavern in the center of Faella, it has a large car park near the restaurant about 4/5 minutes on foot, with very homemade food, generous portions, only one small flaw, the place is really small so I recommend calling to find out the availability of places

19/08/2024: Wonderful trufle experience! One of the best trufle menu we had during our stay in Tuscany. Fresh and high quality products. The service is very helpful and hospitable. You will feel grate during your dinner. I highly recommend burrata with trufle, ravioli with trufle and eggs with trufle. The view from the restaurant is breathtaking. Little treasure!

25/08/2024: I had the pleasure of eating at this restaurant and really loved it. We received an incredibly warm welcome as soon as we entered, and the service was consistently friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The pasta and meat we ordered were simply outstanding. The pasta had an intense, full flavor, and the meat was wonderfully tender and aromatic - you immediately notice that the cooking here is done with love and fresh ingredients. The price-performance ratio is also absolutely right here. The prices are more than fair for the quality of the food and the great service. I can only warmly recommend this restaurant and look forward to my next visit!
