28/11/2025: My wife and I first found this little restaurant by accident in 2022. We had just finished visiting the Bargello Museum and were hungry for lunch. My wife had been searching everywhere in Italy for a good risotto that didn’t use truffle oil. It seemed like every place added truffle, and she doesn’t like that. We walked in and asked the man working there, and he immediately said, “No! A real Florentine does not use truffle oil in risotto!” After that passionate answer, my wife knew this was the right place. She ordered a simple asparagus risotto, and it became her favorite risotto in the world. I had a seafood ravioli that was excellent too. We loved it so much we went back a second time before that trip ended. When we returned to Florence in November 2025 with a large group, we ended up eating at Il Barroccio three times—and every meal was wonderful. It has truly become our favorite restaurant in Florence. The restaurant is run by a small team: Mr. Giovanni at the front and his wife cooking in the back. He is passionate, honest, and very serious about how real Italian food should be prepared and enjoyed. This place is local, authentic, and full of character. If you follow Giovanni’s advice, you’ll experience something special. We celebrated my birthday here with 15 people. We didn’t even set a menu—Giovanni simply brought out the dishes he thought we should have, and everything was perfect. The artichoke pasta was so incredible that I don’t think I’ll ever taste anything like it again. Gianni(I hope I spelled his name correctly) has become a friend, and I will return as often as I can. I highly, highly recommend this place.

05/11/2025: We (four sophisticated foodies from San Francisco) had the best meal of our amazing Italian vacation at Osteria Il Barroccio in Firenze. We ate the gorgonzola gnocchi there three years ago and had been talking about it ever since. We were thrilled to be able to reserve a table when we got back to Florence. We had the artichoke and parmesan (carchiofi) to start and it was the best of my entire life. We of course had the gnocchi next and were sorry because as it was the most delicate, rich, and delectable thing imaginable, we feared that the rest of the meal would be a disappointment. We need not have worried, the courses built on each other like a magnificent symphony, each dish surpassing the last, especially the pepper steak which absolutely melted on the tongue. Even though we were quite full, we ordered the panna cotta and the tiramisu. The orgasmic moans that emanated from our table should have made us blush, but the rich silky spoonfuls rendered us greedy and shameless. This place is a treasure.

20/11/2025: A very pleasant surprise! We found this place for lunch almost by accident. The atmosphere is very elegant, with an incredible view, friendly staff, and high-quality food. We'll definitely be back.

11/11/2025: It's not easy to deserve 5 stars with a table for 13. We'll be back as a couple and enjoy even more: the view, the homemade pasta, the ragù, and the quality meats, the wine list that's a pleasure to linger over, etc. My kids even went crazy for the desserts! Well done! PS: A charming medieval village that's well worth the short climb.

23/11/2025: An impressive hall with wine racks reaching to the ceiling. Delicious food, warm service, and an authentic atmosphere in the heart of Bolgheri. High cult status. The only downside: 10cl of "house wine" for €18.

25/10/2025: Excellent trattoria! It's a winding road to get there from Grosseto or Castiglion d'Pescaia, in a village from another era, but it's absolutely worth it. The atmosphere is small and old-fashioned, but charming and welcoming. The anduia on the tables is a reminder of the origins of the kind and friendly host, the true leader of the restaurant. Friendly, fast, and knowledgeable service, excellent dishes, from the first courses with mushrooms or wild boar sauce, which is present in various dishes. The second courses are also top-notch, all top-notch. Pure spectacle! Good prices, not expensive. A staple of Maremma cuisine. Unmissable. Mr. Whites.

16/11/2025: A wonderful trip out of town, and we were recommended this restaurant. It's top-quality and very reasonably priced. Delicate and flavorful meat, exceptional Bolgheri wine, exquisite crostini, and truly divine salt and olive oil gelato. The kindness and courtesy of the staff, including the owner, truly inspired me. We'll be back. Congratulations, keep up the good work.

12/11/2025: Recommended restaurant. The food is excellent. This restaurant also offers pizza which is, in my opinion, very good.

01/12/2025: Trattoria in the hills of Florence, in Montebeni. The location is charming, and even the interior is reminiscent of old-fashioned trattorias, with a beautiful, bright dining room. We started with a complimentary entrée of pappa al pomodoro and a spinach and parmesan cheese platter. This was followed by a mixed platter of cured meats accompanied by bruschetta and mixed fried vegetables. To finish, we ordered the legendary bistecca fritta, which was delicious, if a bit heavy. Overall, everything was truly excellent. We'll definitely return, although it's often packed and difficult to find a table.

23/11/2025: Being a true Florentine, I wanted to try the fried steak. I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent quality of the meat, the perfect cooking, and the dry breading. The service is fast and professional. I highly recommend it.

13/11/2025: A wonderful restaurant; I always visit it when I'm in Montecatini. The meat (steak) and Toscana antipasti and prosciutto with cheese are delicious. If you add some house (local) Toscana wine, it'll only cost €100 for three. I highly recommend it. The service is always friendly, it's a family-run restaurant, and they pay close attention to quality. We celebrated my sister's birthday here today. We asked for a good seat, and they gave us a seat by the fireplace. 😍 Thank you. However, for some reason, the restaurant doesn't offer a small birthday cake. You should reconsider that.

24/10/2025: The place is very nice and large. We went at night. The view is very pretty, but I recommend going during the day for a better view. They have seating both inside and outside. The food was delicious. We ordered a prosciutto platter as antipasti, which was excellent. Then we ordered pastas (ragu ravioli and fettuccine with mushrooms), which were also well-made. The portion sizes were perfect. We didn't like the dessert as much. A kind of dark chocolate pancotta was a little overcooked for my taste. We had a very nice wine. We found the wine list a bit steep. The service was good. I recommend it for the price/quality ratio. The service

10/12/2025: Excellent!! The owner was friendly and kind. We were three friends, and I had fish, including a world-class sauté, and freshly caught grilled tuna (he showed me photos of the fish), which was excellent. My friends had the Chianina tartare (real and certified), which was fantastic. (More seasoning?) The pici with cheese and pepper were excellent, with a creamy sauce. The potato and mushroom pie was excellent. The service was amazing... everyone, and I mean everyone, absolutely wanted to do their best, without ever being intrusive, but very thorough. A nice, warm table, perhaps helped by an excellent liter of red wine, elegant and full-bodied. We'll be back as soon as we can.

04/12/2025: I would like to express my sincere thanks to Signora Lisa for her exceptional hospitality. The property's location is simply magnificent, just half an hour from Siena and the same distance from Arezzo. The place is enchanting, elegantly furnished with care and attention to detail. The rooms are splendid, with very comfortable beds, mattresses, and pillows, and the bathrooms are impeccable. Breakfast is served in a fairytale setting and offers a wide selection of flavors, including fresh juices, coffee, tea, sweet and savory pastries, croissants, and much more. Signora Lisa's kindness and helpfulness make every guest feel like part of the family. Thank you so much: our experience was truly wonderful. We can't wait to return!
