20/12/2025: Hi, before writing this review I waited until I went a second time... the menu isn't that great, there's no choice, the prices are quite high, and the food... I personally didn't like anything. They don't even open the wine for you at the table, they open it behind you, which isn't good. Management has changed, and it shows. I hope they change something for them.

22/11/2025: The location is fantastic, as are the à la carte meals and breakfast. The only downside is that they don't offer any activities. They did offer us a wine tasting, but it was at a venue about 40 minutes away by car. Considering you're just there to relax, it's great and has fantastic views.

18/06/2026: Terrible experience. Rude staff. We tried the pizza round: 8 adults and 4 2-year-olds shared only 1 margherita pizza and were charged for two rounds for them. Very dishonest considering we've been customers since the beginning of June.

21/07/2026: Dirty bar, scandalous pastries most likely frozen, look around when you enter the mold on the wooden walls, the furnishings bordering on decency. I think it is working, because it is located on a busy road near the Monsterio foundation. To be avoided. I entered and saw the pastries counter, it makes you want to not eat them.

07/07/2026: I went to the store on July 7, 2027, around 2:00 PM. I asked the employee Sanja♡—that's the name I saw on the nameplate. I asked a simple question, asking if table service was available because the kiosk offered the option to choose. She responded with a giggle and arrogance, even making a joke that said, "What the hell does she want?" (using a more vulgar term). This is what my friend who was with me heard, and from the uniform she was wearing (a blue shirt), you could tell she was some sort of manager. I must say that she really sets a good example and brings prestige to this store. Moreover, if it weren't for the fact that it's in a strategic location, with her, this place would have already closed.

29/11/2025: Right next to the water. Beautiful views and comes a with pretty useful gym and an amazing daily free and quite large breakfast. Dated TV in the room but besides that great hotel with great staff at a great price.

12/11/2025: Despite some stressful situations, the staff at reception and in the restaurant were very friendly and accommodating. The food was varied and delicious; they were very attentive to my allergies and intolerances and offered excellent alternative suggestions. The dining room could be made a bit more inviting; it felt a little too bright and bare and had unpleasant acoustics. We were satisfied with the breakfast and its selection: very good coffee, juices, several types of bread and rolls, muesli, various cold cuts, ham and cheeses, egg dishes and sausages, fruit, and sweet treats – everything you could want. Two minor issues in the room were promptly resolved. The rooms are adequately sized; we just wish there had been more storage space and clothes hangers. All in all, a good option for staying close to Pisa, Livorno, and Lucca.

19/04/2026: Disappointing experience! The hotel's location is difficult to find, on a very narrow country road where only one car can pass, so you have to be very careful. I slept terribly; the room smelled stale and sickening, not to mention the dirty mattresses and bedspreads full of stains and lint. It's not a three-star hotel. The only decent service is the food, which is all fresh.

15/04/2026: Dated and rustic hotel. Close to airport landing path but not too annoying. Friendly staff and good food made this a nice stay!

The staff is friendly, attentive, and can offer good advice, even for those who aren't experts in Japanese cuisine. The sushi is fresh, well-prepared, and the portions are generous. We tried uramaki, nigiri, and sashimi: excellent-quality fish, perfectly cooked rice, and balanced flavor combinations. Even the hot dishes like ramen and tempura are truly well-made, not the usual pre-packaged fare. The service is fast, even on weekends, and the quality/price ratio is fair. Perfect for a quiet dinner for two or an evening with friends. If you're in Pontedera and craving well-made sushi, Zen is a safe bet.
