31/08/2025: A real discovery! The Iberian beef specialty is truly unique, a flavor hard to find elsewhere. The staff is super friendly and attentive, especially for those with intolerances: I found gluten-free options for both sandwiches and crepes, and they were delicious! A fast food restaurant that combines quality, attention to detail, and flavor. Highly recommended!!!

04/09/2025: Great place for holiday shopping. Very wide range, helpful staff and you can get a Puccia + drink at the bar (which is more of a bistro) for €6, which is an irresistible offer.

02/09/2025: Roberto's comment is completely out of place.... Are you normal? Exorbitant prices??!?! Where? You're at the seaside in Salento. The prices are much lower than any market in Bologna. If you come from Egypt and the prices seem high, that's your problem..... A tenner consumed at the bar is charged as if it were bought in the store. The store is stocked with everything you need. If this bar/market was missing, I would give Torre San Giovanni 3 stars. Great. Fresh vegetables, fruit, cold cuts, sandwiches, beers and spirits of all kinds. What more do you want at the seaside???? But look at the price of a beach umbrella sold by them....10 euros. The service is highly considered!!!!!! You feel at home!!!!!!

17/09/2025: A very elegant, welcoming, and refined restaurant with the renowned chef Peppe Macchia in the kitchen. Here you can find delicious and original dishes, seafood, and excellent wines and champagnes for an unforgettable and unique dinner. The cuisine is both seafood and meat. Recommended!

30/09/2025: We went today for a quick lunch. They served us right away, and what can I say about the view of the Tuscan countryside? The steak was amazing on the table grill. The meat was buttery, and the homemade fries were never so good. We ended up there by chance, but I think it will become my favorite restaurant when I'm in the area again. Our waitress was sweet and helpful. The prices were very fair. Steak for two, fries, focaccia, water, and wine were €64! And, well, they have a truly amazing olive oil! Recommend, recommend, recommend.

31/08/2025: It's a shame I didn't read the other reviews first, but as a longtime De. Mar customer, I'd never thought to check out other people's opinions. It's well known that they don't sell fresh fish, but rather defrosted and, above all, imported. But the fact that they have subpar mussels and sell them at an exorbitant price eluded me. Over the years, I'd seen the price of trays of shelled mussels rise from €4 to €5.50, but today, when I reached the checkout, I was left with €7.80 for a tray of 30 mussels (yes, I counted them!!!), and, to top it all, completely tasteless. I'd say it's shameful to exploit such a typical local product... obviously, they'll never see me again!!!

30/09/2025: At lunch, only two different pizzas, otherwise a good menu. No wait time, very good service, and a great atmosphere under an arbor or covered terrace. Bravo

26/09/2025: The staff are extremely rude and urge their customers to hurry up and consume their food. They also rudely remove the sugar, making the food inedible.

04/09/2025: We went for an aperitivo. The prices and food were fantastic, with huge portions. The girl who served us was super kind and friendly. We didn't even have time to take a photo of the platter, it was all so captivating.

15/09/2025: I went on Sunday to eat with the all-you-can-eat plan. The sushi and cooked food were all excellent quality. The presentation on the plates was perfect, except for the nauseating stench emanating from a tall, red-haired Italian waitress who didn't even know how to carry the plates. Whenever I asked her questions, she responded rudely and rudely. I'm sorry that a beautiful restaurant is ruined by the presence of this young woman.

29/09/2025: Me and my partner were staying in Puglia for a week from the 19th of September, staying one night near Polignano a Mare, 3 nights in Ostuni, and 3 nights here in Castro - we were most excited about this hotel as our friend recommended it to us. Starting off positively, the hotel grounds were beautiful and the location idyllic. The staff were all so lovely, kind, and personable. We were left a little disappointed by the service however. When we arrived we were told someone would fetch our bags from the car and bring them to our room, and after waiting over an hour we ended up having to get them ourselves. We were also told there’s a WhatsApp number to text food/drink orders to from the pool (it looked like the pool bar was closed so maybe why) but when we asked another member of staff for this number they were confused and said they’ve never heard of that before. Having to order food and drink from the pool felt like a mission, climbing up all the steps to then wait at the bar or reception which was mostly unstaffed - then waiting over an hour and a half for lunch and a drink. Not really ideal sadly. I’m sure this was mostly because we visited slightly out of season but I feel like the service should remain the same regardless. We got the standard double room and it was very, very basic. There wasn’t WiFi and when we asked at reception they gave us our own WiFi box which was strange and should’ve been told upon checking in. I’d also recommend adding tea/coffee making facilites to the rooms, there were also only six hangers in the wardrobe and no draws to put the rest of our clothes. I think a lot of updating would make this place a haven. Dinner was (in our opinion) overly expensive for the small portions we had, so we left feeling hungry and decided to eat at surrounding restaurants for the rest of the trip. Onto more positives - breakfast was a big highlight, such a feast! Although does finish early (10 am) so wouldn’t recommend a lie in. And the views from the terrace at breakfast were just divine. The pool was the most tranquil place to relax, we did go to visit the private beach but it was a bit choppy and cold for us this time of year! The hotel also had tennis courts we didn’t have time to use, and a movie theatre outside but not sure how that works as nothing was ever playing? Again, the staff were truly lovely, I hope to come back again and have a better experience with the service and maybe book a better room.

24/09/2025: The location of the resort is truly unique – directly on the cliffs with stunning sea views from many areas, whether from the breakfast terrace or the pool. The friendliness of the staff is also noteworthy; minor issues were resolved immediately. We were less impressed with the suite we booked: The furnishings are quite basic, lacking storage space and comfortable seating, and the patio furniture appears basic. The air conditioning also didn't work reliably and was a bit difficult to operate. Overall, this gives the impression that the resort is in need of renovation and modernization in some areas. All in all, however, the great location outweighs any drawbacks, so the stay will remain a positive memory.
