02/08/2024: For more than three years in a row now, I have been spending my summer holidays at the Hotel Universo, located in the beautiful area of ​​the Alimini Lakes, rich in pine forests and Mediterranean scrub. In this place I found the ideal combination of the beauty of the sea, excellent cuisine and comfortable living. The sea: it is really just a few steps from the rooms (30 meters or 50 meters depending on the accommodation) and is extraordinarily clear. Furthermore, with a short walk along the shoreline (about 500 metres) you can easily reach Baia dei Turchi, one of the most beautiful beaches in Salento. The cuisine: the skill of the chefs is combined with the quality of the raw materials, allowing us to savor truly good dishes, simple but (perhaps for this very reason) full of flavour. Worth trying are the spaghetti from the Adriatic, the Universo risotto, the spaghetti with crab and the second courses where fish reigns supreme. The hotel restaurant is also open to external customers; for those (like me) who benefit from half board, the choice between three first courses and three second courses is available, but variations are also offered every day. With a very small difference in price you can still order any other dishes on the menu. The living room: the rooms are simple but well looked after and clean, equipped with everything you need. The best (as the name suggests) are the Comfort ones but the others also allow for an excellent stay. Internal parking for the car is available; the beautiful Otranto is just a few minutes away, as is Torre dell'Orso. To top it all off, there is the kindness and availability of Luca, the owner, and all the staff. Ultimately a place to recommend to those who love simple but quality things.

01/12/2024: We returned with my wife to the Fiori di Zucca restaurant in Lecce. We had been missing for a while, but we found the usual friendliness and tastelessness of Salento cuisine. Homemade pasta with ragù and meatballs, fried muersi, broad beans and chicory, ciceri and tria, nfucate turnips, nfucate ducklings, and much more. We enjoyed the first course, with two second courses and a taste of various vegetables. All superlative and accompanied by a jovial local primitivo velvety on the palate, delicate and at the same time strong, slightly sweet, fruity. Extraordinary. Salento offers a lot in terms of landscapes, monuments and also the cuisine that comes from a simple, tasty and genuine peasant culture. If you are in Lecce, whatever the reason, to enjoy the flavors of this generous land, I highly recommend a visit to the Fiori di Zucca restaurant.

18/10/2024: Salento can be heard loud and clear here. The menu is extensive but you have to have it explained because there is so much history and popular tradition! But the owner doesn't fill his mouth with words like these without knowing what he offers and I guarantee that the food here is truly exceptional. The choice of desserts is also perfect. They don't get a single one wrong!

01/12/2024: It's like going to lunch at grandma's, excellent raw materials, comfortable environment, fantastic welcome, fair price. We stumbled upon it by chance but it was a fantastic experience.

24/11/2024: we had lunch here, by chance, in addition to the scottona steak, I would see the starters again, out of six types three were pitta, carrots and peppers with prices in my opinion high compared to the quantity and type of product, friendly staff but the bill was savory said that, ma'am, we would have eaten a kilo of scottona and we wouldn't have noticed! then she will be very good at detailing her dishes, the fact remains that we were talking about carrots, peppers and various pittas, nothing valuable! Greetings

25/08/2024: Knowing the previous place, the new management has not maintained the same characteristics. From an elegant place it was, it has become an informal place, perhaps too much so. The waiters, although kind, were a little confused. The weakest piece was the wait, 50 minutes for 7 pizzas and among other things the place wasn't full. The pizzas arrive and they forget to bring us the drinks that we had to ask for. After all this, the pizza was still very good... at least. I recommend focusing more on service, in my opinion the staff is not very attentive.

20/12/2024: Io insieme ai miei 2 amici, abbiamo cenato con degli ottimi piatti a base di pollo 🍗, prima che iniziasse il gioco della serata! Dopo qualche piccolo problema tecnico, siamo riusciti a partecipare al Gioco a quiz del Mercoledì sera . . . e dopo aver fatto il giro di prova, abbiamo iniziato la prima manche! Credevamo di andar via a mani vuote. . . quando ecco che invece, al termine della seconda manche, con nostra sorpresa e incredulità, il nostro amico Antonio, si aggiudicava il premio finale della serata!!! Spettacolooooo 🤩🤩🤩

21/12/2024: Recently, I went to this restaurant twice with a friend, but I have known it since I was a child. The first time we had dinner there, while the second time we tried to kindly request takeaway service. While the first time we had a great experience and enjoyed their “saccottini” (a kind of flatbread), the second time we had a terrible experience. My friend was initially told that they don’t offer takeaway service, but then they told him that it would be possible. The result? €74 for two bottles of water and four focaccias completely burnt on the surface (two of them were topped with capocollo and stracciatella over the burnt parts, see the pictures below) and impossible to eat, so we had to throw them away. We went back to discuss the issue because it mattered to us, but the lady managing the place denied the obvious, claiming that the focaccias were just “more cooked” to keep them warm. She didn’t make any effort to address the situation and we felt deceived and very disappointed by the lack of transparency and honesty. I was very upset because I would have gladly become a regular customer, but apparently, building a stable and trusting relationship with locals is not the focus of this restaurant, which seems to cater more to the needs of foreign customers.

04/10/2024: I have no words to describe how fabulous the experience was at this restaurant. I went there with my boyfriend and we ate divinely, combinations of particular and winning flavors without being banal, very fresh fish. Each dish was a journey to discover new flavours. The friendly staff treated us with great care, giving us multiple attentions that made the difference. It is located in a point where there is not much crowding which for me is a positive note, however with a walk it is easy to reach the beautiful sea of ​​Castro or the castle. Truly super recommended!

10/11/2024: I found the typical Sardinian dishes repeatedly savored during my 35 years spent on the island. The culurgionis with butter and sage and with ragù are exceptional. The sliced ​​mutton with rocket and parmesan is also excellent. We concluded with the classic sebada and a delicious, homemade mirto.

30/09/2024: Viajando hacia el norte desde el sur de Apulia nos encontramos con la necesidad de café y pasteles, así que nos detuvimos en Bar Royal Martucci. Toda la experiencia fue fantástica, el personal fue amable, y tomamos cuatro cafés con helado (tuve mi único brioche con gelato durante nuestro viaje) y todo fue excepcional. ¡Ojalá pudiera ir allí todos los días!

21/09/2024: We came across this restaurant by chance. I must say that we ate very well. They took us to see the catch of the day. We chose monkfish which was cooked with pasta. It was exceptional. Then we took a sea bass fillet with aubergines and chicory, which was also very good. It is clear that those who manage the restaurant do it with passion, which, unfortunately, is now rare to find. You can say that this is a restaurant that cooks fish! Well done, keep it up.

07/08/2024: My boyfriend and I, on holiday, already noticed this beautiful pastry shop from the outside, very well looked after, clean and refined. Once inside we found an excellent assortment of local desserts: from fantastic pasticciotti of various flavors (black cherry, pistachio, Nutella, etc.), to biscuits, pastries, ice cream, cakes, tiramisu! Everything we tasted was nothing short of exquisite and the courtesy of the staff and owner made our breakfast even sweeter! We will certainly return, perhaps even to taste the savory dishes.

The service was highly appreciated, professional and serious. The location is of a good standard, practically on the seafront adjacent to the port. Excellent wine list. Definitely recommended, thanks again!!

23/08/2024: Having good memories of this pizzeria, I took two Margherita pizzas to take away, unfortunately I wasn't very satisfied, I found the sauce a little acidic and the dough a little heavy. It's probably a matter of taste but the thing that I found a bit exaggerated is the price, for a margherita not eaten in a restaurant €7 seems a bit excessive to me, especially because the price on the digital menu is different from the paper one I hope to change my mind in a positive way if I ever return

22/08/2024: I highly recommend this place, you can see that they use fresh products and that they are treated with care and attention. Starter (mixed fried food) TOP, never had fried food done so well, excellent pizza, very good, very tasty, the kind that you don't wake up at night to drink even though they were very rich in ingredients! Nice environment, friendly and very professional staff. Congratulations we will be back with pleasure!
