05/11/2025: A wonderful experience! Around 1:30 pm, we were found a table for two upstairs with a magnificent view.
The sage ravioli were marvelous, and the house pasta al ragù was delicious.
I highly recommend it. I highly recommend it!
02/11/2025: There were nine of us and we chose just one dish: a first or second course.
The choice was wide and everyone was satisfied.
I had prawns, grilled fish, and seafood risotto... I had grilled whitefish, which was good, just a little too salty.

10/12/2025: We had a wonderful meal, an exceptional risotto. When you enter the restaurant, your first impression is "oh my, where have I ended up?" You go up and sit in a well-kept, slightly retro place with old-fashioned tavern-style tables. You sit down, and a very kind lady arrives, who, in my opinion, you wouldn't expect to be so professional yet so informal, and she explains everything to you. You order, and shortly after, just enough time for a little chat, the dish arrives. I'd say the portion is generous, requiring nothing more than dessert and coffee, but such a good one, I rarely have these memories. Well done.

07/03/2026: We had two pizzas for lunch, cooked in a wood-fired oven. They were excellent, delicious, and very easy to digest, among the best we've had in Italy in decades.
Two delicious pizzas, a medium beer and a Fanta, two desserts, and two decaf coffees, all for €50.
Even though it was a weekday lunch, there was a good turnout, including locals, tourists, and workers.
The service was courteous and fast, and the place was clean and functional.
There's public parking nearby, both paid and free. It's obviously difficult to find a spot, being about 100 meters from the lake shore.
30/01/2026: First time at this pizzeria, a truly positive experience. Greeted with a smile, after taking our seats, we all opted for pizza, which I must honestly say was delicious, well-cooked, and well-topped with truly quality ingredients. I had the Conte; it was my first time eating pizza with leeks, and I must say it was an excellent choice, definitely worth a try. Kudos to the owner, I presume, who managed the dining room all by herself, which had filled up without long waits. That shows when you're good at your job. Thank you for everything, and see you soon, because we'll definitely be back.

29/03/2026: A very quiet and elegant restaurant. The dishes are beautiful and high-quality (especially the venison). We had a wonderful evening, and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable.
15/03/2026: We've been to this restaurant for lunch several times and have always enjoyed it. This was our first dinner here: we booked at the last minute and were greeted courteously around 9:00 PM.
The dishes are carefully crafted and refined; you can sense the hard work and attention that goes into every dish. The plin were exceptional, and the boiled meat was simply perfect. This evening truly impressed me: every course completely satisfied me.
It is undoubtedly the best restaurant in Macugnaga, with prices absolutely in line with the quality of the ingredients.

27/02/2026: Well, what can I say... Perfect in every way! Dogs are welcome, the charcuterie board with fantastic lard, sublime polenta and venison, and to finish, a spectacular apple pie.
The owner is very kind, and the atmosphere is truly beautiful.

The service was impeccable, too, with very friendly waiters. If you want to eat well and spend a fair amount, you can't miss Ristorante Del Vecchio Borgo.

06/03/2026: An excellent experience, the owner was a delightful person who accompanied us throughout the evening. The fish was excellent and of a higher quality than anywhere else in Verbania, the prices were reasonable for the effort and quality of the place, and the atmosphere was quiet and elegant.
The best seafood restaurant in Verbania, we'll definitely be back.

My partner and I decided to celebrate our anniversary here. We ate typical local dishes, with homemade pasta and desserts (even the ladyfingers for tiramisu!). On the menu, I found the Walser pasta that my grandmother used to make; it made me so happy! With every bite of each dish, I wanted more. The location is stunning; it feels like eating in a castle, and in summer, enjoying the lake view must be magnificent! The welcome is impeccable, and the owners are wonderful! Locanda a Sud is a rare and special place, a guarantee!
08/03/2026: It was an idyllic experience, both for the exceptional food and the setting, which is decorated with period furniture. The dishes I ordered were truly unique, but the zabaglione cream dessert was out of this world. In the summer, you can eat outside on a terraced garden with a magnificent view. I will definitely be back, as it was one of the most beautiful culinary experiences I've ever had.

18/03/2026: On a Sunday at this wonderful restaurant, I had a first course with venison ragù, truly a delicacy, and then... the polenta with venison morsels was absolutely top-notch.
Wonderful atmosphere and very friendly staff.
Excellent value for money. I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant nestled in a stunning landscape.
