07/06/2026: Even as a wine professional, I very rarely open a restaurant review by discussing the wine program — but this place delivered flawless wine service from start to finish. Starting with my pet peeve: no one said “wonderful selection, sir,” as if a sommelier would ever say “lousy selection, sir.” The sommelier was excellent at reading our visual cues, attentive without being intrusive. We had a great table, cantilevered over the water a perfect spot for lunch while watching all the activity on the water. The food was fantastic: well-timed, beautifully executed, and incredibly flavorful. Looking forward to coming back next year.

01/06/2026: I had the pleasure of celebrating my 40th birthday at this venue. Cleliana and the entire staff looked after us impeccably, finding the perfect solution for me, allowing me to celebrate in this wonderful place. I'll be back for dinner to try the menus, but for location and service, we're in the top five in the region.

The food was absolutely delicious – not exactly cheap, but the value for money is perfect. The dishes have a unique touch, making the visit exciting and delightful. The highlight is definitely the quality of the fish, especially the raw fish, which is truly fantastic, incredibly fresh, and of the highest quality. The service was courteous and professional, with reasonable wait times. The staff was helpful in recommending both dishes and wine pairings. The prices are medium-high, but justified by the quality of the ingredients and the overall experience. Highly recommended.

18/05/2026: First of all, I have to say that my wife felt sick the next day, not because of the quality of the food, but because she simply overate again 🙄😅. The food was excellent, the fillet was divine, and the venison ragu was divine, as was the dessert 🤤 chocolate flan 😋

02/06/2026: A family lunch. I came with my family for lunch on a Sunday. Excellent service. Very friendly staff. Even though the place was crowded, we didn't have to wait for service. The ingredients were very good and cooked really well. We'll definitely be back. Highly recommended.

02/06/2026: My husband and I went there yesterday, even though we hadn't booked because we were coming from about a 2-hour drive, after several previous stops elsewhere. We didn't know what time we'd arrive in Macugnaga and preferred not to make plans we might not be able to keep. Well, the staff not only found us a table right away, but were so kind and courteous that we felt like we were "at home"! We ate wonderfully; the charcuterie and cheese platter was top-notch! Then macaroni with venison ragù for my husband and the typical dish for me: pasta alla magugnaghese, both delicious. And to finish, peach tart with custard and panna cotta with fresh fruit, both truly delicious! We ate outside but we noticed that the interior of the restaurant was truly beautiful and pleasantly attentive to detail. If we return to Macugnaga in the future, we will definitely stop there, but this time we will reserve a table!

10/06/2026: You can sit right by the water, the service is lovely, and both the mixed grilled fish platter and the fritto misto are excellent! It's very busy, but the friendly, multi-faceted staff works together seamlessly and has everything under control.

08/06/2026: It's more like a canteen than a restaurant (the inside). The service is assembly-line style. The food is really bland. We ordered lasagna and gnocchi, both dishes were tasteless; it's quite surprising that you couldn't even taste the cheese...

01/02/2026: Simply a great restaurant with really good food, great service and nice atmosphere. We had the brusaola and ravioli with mushrooms as firsts with entrecôte and salmon trout as seconds. All of it was top quality, with the ravioli stealing the show. The white wine of the house was also really good, as was the tiramisu. We would definitely love to come back to try the other dishes, everything seemed delicious!

26/01/2026: The place is charming, small, and very welcoming! The young owners are knowledgeable and empathetic. The food and recommended wines are excellent. I'll have to return sooner rather than later to try more!

07/06/2026: We popped in by chance for a quick snack and found a wide selection of excellent quality sandwiches and platters at very reasonable prices. We ordered a main course and a delicious beef and horsemeat sandwich twice.

15/05/2026: A lovely restaurant with a fantastic view of the lake. The staff is partly multilingual and easily manages the flow of customers, even when the restaurant is busy. The food is expertly prepared. Even those with hearty appetites will be satisfied, as the portions are generous. There's also a small but excellent wine list with very fair prices. It's no longer a hidden gem, but its value for money is still virtually unbeatable in this area. We're looking forward to our next visit.
