08/10/2025: I stopped by because it was near my accommodation, and it was a busy place with a constant stream of locals. A brioche (delicious!), a croissant filled with apricot jam(?), a croissant filled with light green chocolate (I didn't know what it was, but I just picked it up because it was so sweet, I ended up digging it all up), and a cappuccino for €6.50. I was very satisfied.

07/10/2025: Typical Italian bar with many locals, a few covered tables on the sidewalk, friendly service, excellent cappuccino, and crispy cornetto.

03/04/2026: Kiri and her husband, Fabio, have created a really special blend of Greek and Sicilian cuisine at Retroscena. The ambience, decorations, service and food were all delightful. Highly recommended.

06/05/2026: We stayed at the hotel with my family in May 2026. It's a wonderful place in a small village near Syracuse. It's a great base for exploring the eastern part of the island. The staff were incredibly friendly and the breakfast was excellent. The hotel was very well-maintained and clean, and the pool was excellent and large. There's also a section for children. It was quiet, peaceful, and completely relaxing amidst the greenery (the children were delighted by the number of tiny lizards). At our request, the staff arranged a private wireless modem for us so we could work freely. The best panna cotta and granita we've ever had! A 100% positive experience!

04/05/2026: I highly recommend this place where you can relax, eat well, and be welcomed by very helpful staff. The rooms and breakfast are excellent, and evening meals can also be enjoyed on-site and are very, very good!

16/05/2026: We left still hungry. Five small ravioli on our plate for an exorbitant price. My friend left a review to point this out. The owner claims that what we ordered was just an appetizer, which is, of course, untrue. Since he spoke our language, he didn't say anything to us while we were there. We did tell him we hadn't had enough to eat, but he simply asked the waitress to clear our table without offering us anything else. It's a real shame because the setting is lovely.

15/05/2026: A most welcoming atmosphere and exceptional cuisine! Their parmigiana is to die for and the pasta alla Norma is succulent! The owner treats you like a friend and manages his entire team brilliantly. The waiters are delightful and were incredibly kind, helping me find the right words in Italian despite the restaurant being very busy. Nothing is left to chance, the service is top-notch, and the bill was more than reasonable for such a delicious meal and such a friendly welcome. As a bonus, I was offered a small glass of homemade wild fennel brandy at the end of my meal. Thank you to the whole team and well done!

14/05/2026: Excellent pizza — honestly the best I had during my 3–4 days in Sicily. The prices were very good, the service was friendly, and the overall experience was great. The waitress also spoke English well, which made everything easy and comfortable. I was completely satisfied and would definitely recommend this place.

13/05/2026: I tried the pizza at "A Tumminia" and was truly satisfied. The dough is made with a blend of ancient Sicilian flours, including Tumminia and Russello, which give the pizza an authentic, fragrant, and highly digestible flavor. You can taste the quality of the ingredients from the first bite: an intense yet balanced flavor, with a soft texture inside and a slightly crunchy outside. Truly excellent for those who love rustic, authentic pizzas, different from the usual commercial offerings. Furthermore, the staff was very courteous and attentive, creating a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. An experience definitely worth trying.

19/04/2026: I loved Dada Bar! The cocktails were amazing, crafted by a real mixologist, Davide, who was also incredibly friendly. We had such a great time talking with him. The service and atmosphere were fantastic. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in Ortigia.

18/04/2026: Seriously one of the best spots in Ortigia! Tucked away and quiet, it’s the perfect place to relax and unwind. The cocktails are interesting and made with great attention. Davide is the best - friendly, kind and truly cares about his customers. Grazie di cuore!

18/09/2025: Delicious food - we took the horse and chicken wraps, all delicious, hot and very big, I couldn't eat it all 😂 very generous portion, very nice team, I highly recommend it 👍

18/09/2025: I was supposed to go to a restaurant but something tempted us to stop here and that's it, super nice people, smiling and the food is amazing, I ate horse meat in a pita with cheese and toppings, the portion is like for an army, you get a delicious piece of meat, so much that you won't be able to finish it and on top of that it's mega good, I recommend it without hesitation :)

23/10/2025: Rina and Gaetano are wonderful people, along with their daughter, who helps in the kitchen and makes a huge contribution to this business, which started purely by chance, thanks to a location highlighted on the map by a German tourist. A wonderful place, it's practically like coming to your aunt/grandmother's house, who welcomes you warmly and offers you good, wholesome food, prepared with love—I can't explain it any other way. Not only do they use produce from their garden, but they also put in a lot of work and dedication, especially considering that farmers no longer enjoy the benefits they once did, and it's a profession that's slowly disappearing. You arrive at their house, there's even space to park your car, and you find yourself in a beautiful, pristine setting. Next door, you can visit their goats, chickens, rabbits, and many other pets. If you're traveling with children, they'll be delighted. We adults were amazed, let alone the kids. The dining room is simple, but what matters is the company and the good food. Inside the dining room, there are six tables. Both times we came, there were other diners, and the atmosphere created a welcoming atmosphere, where we chatted and even joked. Rina offers exquisite appetizers: we tried olives in oil from her garden, delicious dried tomatoes, caponata, scacciate with potatoes and very fresh ricotta from their own production, or scacciata with spinach and ricotta, delicious bread, fresh ricotta cheese served on the side, and focaccia with their own tomatoes. What can I say, everything was perfect. All the food was prepared that day, starting with the bread dough, scacciate, and ending with delicious cannoli made on the spot. I'll just say that the first time we came, we said we wanted to try the coponata, and Rina promised to make it. Imagine the surprise when we came the second time! 💚 For our first course, Rina had rolled out the ravioli dough just beforehand, so everything was made to order, with their delicious tomato sauce. We were also lucky enough to try the rabbit stew. The meat was tender and flavorful. It's worth going and having this unforgettable experience; you won't regret it. You can also order takeout, just let us know in advance. Thanks again for everything, and see you next time.

19/10/2025: Mrs. Rina welcomed us warmly and served simple, authentic food. We felt right at home. The ricotta served at the table was still warm. The tomatoes were delicious. Everything was delicious. It was like going to eat at a loving aunt's house... Highly recommended!!!

06/05/2026: Nice restaurant, pleasant service, good wine and coffee; however, my pasta dish was tasteless and the portion was tiny. The price of 25 euros for the dish was high considering the quality and quantity offered.

13/02/2026: Good, nice, and cheap. The beef was tender and flavorful, grilled to perfection. The side vegetables and fries were delicious. The pasta alla Norma and the gnocchi with béchamel sauce and sausages were perfectly cooked. The waitresses were very friendly. The price was more than reasonable. We'll be back.

10/02/2026: Had an occasional business lunch during a trip to Sicily. The food was excellent, simple but very well prepared and tasty. The service was friendly, and the atmosphere was welcoming and definitely informal. It's worth a try.

07/12/2025: PortoMatto in Avola was a delightful discovery. I ordered a first course, a truly delicious risotto: well-creamed, flavorful, but never heavy. The restaurant is elegant, with attention to detail, and the background music is not too loud and very pleasant, allowing for a peaceful conversation. Special praise goes to the table service: professional, attentive, but never intrusive. I'd especially like to highlight the kindness and empathy of the waiter, Giovanni, who really worked hard to find a solution for my wife's particularly restricted diet, trying to accommodate her in every way possible. In the end, she didn't order anything, but his face showed genuine disappointment, a sign of genuine care for the customer. Overall, a very positive experience: highly recommended.
