04/09/2024: Scuola Alimentare is a lovely restaurant in the heart of Ortigia. The food is freshly prepared, the ingredients are high quality and delicious. We tried the tuna tartare, as well as the stuffed ravioli with pistachio pesto and squid ink pasta. Finally, we decided on the tiramisù and two espressos. All dishes tasted excellent and the staff were very friendly and attentive. Absolutely recommended!

04/09/2024: We passed by and checked the 4.5 stars review so decided to have lunch there. Basically they encourage every table to order a focaccia which is as big as half a pizza no matter what you order. We had two pasta. The seafood one was with all tiny frozen squids and shrimps. The syracusana pasta contained anchovies but were in reality huge inedible bones (see in photo) At the end they charge you €2 per person for coperto which is common in Italy but at least you are served with bread. Here nothing but still 2 euros each. Do avoid!

14/08/2024: Positives: This is a beautiful old hotel with interesting history (Winston Churchill was a former guest) with parking on site. The rooms are reasonable. We were upgraded to a superior room which included a terrace, but our son’s room overlooked the restaurant bins or at least that’s what it looked like. The interior of the hotel reflects its history. Lovely historic and grand feel. Breakfast was included and was excellent. A huge selection of pastries and fruit including tuppo (brioche) and granita which is a traditional Sicilian treat. Whisper quiet location. Negatives: We drove to Siracusa so the location was not an issue but it is a good distance from the old town which is the only reason to visit the city. The car park had no charging facility for EVs (we rented an EV so while relevant to me it won’t be an issue for everyone). Other hotels in our Sicily tour with fewer “stars” have had this. You can be a historic hotel while also embracing modern technology. Much of Siracusa including the old town has electric scooters and EV charging. This hotel feels behind the times for a “recently renovated” hotel. The pool area is lovely but sun beds are in short supply. They simply don’t have enough beds for all the guests. How can a hotel claim to be 4 stars but not cater for all guests. Very poor. When I questioned this they said there was no space. However I noted space for at least 10 additional beds. I don’t expect scramble for sunbeds like some sort of sunbed wars (as the media call it). Also there is a charge for pool towels €5 per towel per day. However the room cost is not cheap and I’d expect this to be included in the price. Again very unusual for a 4 star hotel. WiFi was useless. Air con did not work in my son’s room although this was fixed reasonably swiftly. Not a 4 star hotel for me. History and grandeur don’t automatically equate to 4 stars. Facilities and service are more important. Rated three stars as that’s what it should be.

01/09/2024: Little place found while walking through the alleys of Ortigia... Well done to the guy at the entrance who, by describing the dishes, entices you to enter. Very good first courses and excellent grilled fish....soft and succulent. Friendly staff. Fast service. Intimate and welcoming internal courtyard but I would care a little more.

07/08/2024: If you are looking for a place where cuisine blends with culture, this is the most suitable place. Traditional dishes "divinely" revisited, knowledge of flavor combinations, good taste of the place, impeccable cleanliness and hygiene, elegant and professional welcome. The owner, a very knowledgeable person, delighted us with some literary glimpses, demonstrating not only elegance and professionalism but also a high cultural level. I forgot... the waiters and owner had guessed that the dinner was about my birthday and they served me a surprise dessert complete with music and best wishes from all the staff... Really good!

06/08/2024: Without a doubt for us the best restaurant in Noto from all points of view. We ordered 8 different courses, starting from the appetizer to the dessert, one better than the other! Excellent quality raw material, cooked and presented masterfully by chef Silvia! Welcome from Catarina, the owner, friendly and professional, attentive to every detail and looks after the tables with care and great skill. He makes sure to give his customers a unique "experience", so it was for us! Truly a high standard restaurant. The price is exactly worth the quality of the food and service offered. 22/08/2024: Esperienza pessima. Ci fanno aspettare per sederci nonostante una di noi fosse incinta. Chiediamo per tre volte l’acqua non ce la portano. Chiediamo per 4 volte i menù, non ce li portano. Il cameriere minorenne (a cui puzzavano le ascelle - inaccettabile!) non sa tenere la sala. La cameriera minorenne non sa tenere la sala tanto quanto. Danno precedenza a due tavoli da 20 persone (di cui uno arrivato dopo di noi) fino a che arriva il proprietario, maleducatissimo, e ci chiede di concretizzare come se fossimo noi il problema. 2 antipasti di verdure e…. “AH NO! di verdure non ne abbiamo più.”, senza nemmeno proporci un’alternativa. Ci siamo alzate e siamo andate via. Sì sono allargati pensando di poter gestire un tot di clienti, ma non solo non sono staffati, sono anche cafoni e maleducati. Sconsigliatissimo

21/08/2024: Terrible experience. They made us wait to sit even though one of us was pregnant. We ask three times for water and they don't bring it. We ask for the menus 4 times, they don't bring them to us. The underage waiter (whose armpits smelled - unacceptable!) doesn't know how to keep the room. The underage waitress doesn't know how to keep the room as much as. They give priority to two tables of 20 people (one of which arrived after us) until the owner arrives, very rudely, and asks us to make things happen as if we were the problem. 2 vegetable appetizers and…. “AH NO! we don't have any more vegetables.”, without even proposing an alternative. We got up and left. Yes they have expanded thinking they can handle a certain number of customers, but not only are they not skilled, they are also rude and rude. Not recommended

12/08/2024: Anche il pizzolo di Sortino..ha come dire subito la "sgrammatura",prima erano enormi condivisibili...oggi sono quanto una pizza e non troppo conditi. Servizio veloce gentile Ma secondo me potreste prendere quello che ho notato(mio modestissimo parere) come spunto. Pizzolo con mortadella asina(originale),infornata perde un po' di sapore e delicatezza e soprattutto il pesto di pistacchio forse lo hanno dimenticato! Pizzolo parmigiana(i catanesi conoscono bene cosa sia), è un Pizzolo con melanzane fritte e mozzarella e pomodoro(quindi tutt'altra cosa) Pizzolo crudo (il crudo era un po' dubbio di qualità) Pizzolo con porchetta artigianale(bisognerebbe scrivere che è un salume perché ci si aspetta una porchetta simile Ariccia ) Cmq nel complesso tutto buonissimo ci tornerei,

04/08/2024: Un posto carino dove mangiare un buon pizzolo. Siamo stati accolti da una squadra giovane e professionale, volenterosa e precisa. I nostri pizzoli, sia neri che bianchi, erano tutti uno più buono dell’altro. La ciliegina sulla torta è stato il prezzo, onesto e corretto sia per loro che per noi! Non potevo non lasciare una recensione a 100 stelle. Mangerei lì tutti i giorni! Grazie mille per tutto!

The service was pleasant and assertive members of staff, willing to assist and help apart from one incident, which was later looked into and rectified. It didn't spoil my whole experience. Sometimes people make mistakes. All in all amazing experience and thank you all for it.

24/08/2024: Excellent!!! Exceptional pizzas... delicious with fresh, quality products... soft and light dough. Impeccable service...everyone was very helpful and super kind. Quiet and well-kept environment...we had dinner on a quiet veranda...but there is a large lawn available...decorated with strings of lights that create a truly pleasant environment. I shared a wonderful experience and we will definitely return and above all I will recommend it. Top!

01/06/2024: I remembered the quality above all of the arancini in this bakery/pizzeria/rotisserie, in the Bosco Minniti district, under the arcades, a little earlier, coming from the South, than the neighborhood church. I rediscovered this place, now run I suppose by the children, with very young and always courteous, really smart staff, and I found great value rotisserie products at an average price. Particularly worth tasting, in my opinion, are the so-called breaded ones, that is, a sort of trousers of various shapes, baked, filled for example, as per Aretusea tradition, with cauliflower and sausage, with potatoes and sausage, and also the traditional, style also ragusano, with parsley (too much) tomato sauce, etc. . The arancini are equally good and well made, the only thing is that there is no longer that seasoning spread throughout the arancina, which should be blended better and distributed more evenly throughout the product: cutting the arancini in half , which is a useful check for every product, both savory and sweet, essentially the filling remains in a sort of internal nucleus when instead the thickness of the rice, cooked perfectly but above, should be less, leaving much more space for the filling (we tried that classic with ragù, peas and stringy cheese). The arancina that I tasted about ten years ago was truly amazing, one of the best I've ever eaten. Apart from this, an excellent place, well kept, large and clean, to be considered a reference point in the area, even if the competition is notable and very strong. We will definitely be back, to try and recommend.

01/06/2024: Ricordavo la qualità soprattutto delle arancine in questo panificio/pizzeria/rosticceria, nel quartiere Bosco Minniti, sotto i portici, un po' prima, venendo da Sud, rispetto alla chiesa del quartiere. Ho riscoperto questo locale, adesso gestito suppongo dai figli, con Personale molto giovane e sempre cortese, davvero in gamba, e ho trovato prodotti di rosticceria di grande valore ad un prezzo medio. Particolarmente da gustare, a mio avviso, sono le cosiddette impanate, cioè una sorta di calzoni di varia forma, al forno, ripieni per esempio, come da tradizione aretusea, di cavolfiore e salsiccia, di patate e salsiccia, ed anche le tradizionali, stile anche ragusano, con prezzemolo (troppo) salsa di pomodoro, ecc. . Le arancine sono altrettanto buone e ben fatte, l'unica cosa è che non c'è più quel condimento diffuso in tutta l'arancina, che andrebbe amalgamato meglio e distribuito in maniera più uniforme in tutto il prodotto: tagliando a metà l'arancina, il che è verifica utile per ogni prodotto sia salato sia dolce, sostanzialmente il ripieno resta in una sorta di nucleo interno quando invece lo spessore del riso, cotto perfettamente ma qui sovrastante, dovrebbe essere inferiore, lasciando molto più spazio al ripieno (abbiamo provato quello classico con ragù, piselli e formaggio filante). L'arancina che ho assaggiato una decina di anni fa era veramente strepitosa, una delle migliori mai mangiate. A parte questo, ottimo posto, ben tenuto, ampio e pulito, da considerare riferimento della zona, anche se la concorrenza è notevole e fortissima. Sicuramente torneremo, da provare e consigliare .
