24/06/2026: Terrible experience. Order placed on Tuesday evening at 8:20 PM, with delivery scheduled for 9:00 PM. The order didn't arrive until 10:05 PM, over an hour late, and it was also cold. I tried contacting the restaurant several times, and the response was always the same: "it's being prepared," but I didn't receive any clear information or any real resolution to the delay. I understand that unexpected events can happen, but such a long wait without communication and with a product arriving cold is a service that definitely needs improvement. Edit: Rude responses tell the story. There are more polite restaurateurs who deserve much more work than you. I'll change pizzerias, as the owner suggested.

22/11/2025: It's a complete disaster. The hotel is in the middle of the highway, impossible to get anywhere on foot. The window overlooks a multitude of solar panels. You can hear everything outside in the rooms; a vacuum cleaner will wake you up at 6 a.m. We came here for the sauna and jacuzzi, but they charge 20 euros per person per hour, which is a joke. We didn't see any information about it anywhere. The photos of this hotel were probably taken 50 years ago, because this place definitely doesn't look like this. Overall, it's an old, filthy hotel. I don't recommend it.

16/11/2025: This isn't the first time we've attended the Barion Hotel for events. We've always had excellent experiences, from Maurizio's professionalism and courtesy to Elenya's smile and kindness, to Samy's impeccable, high-quality work. Especially regarding the cuisine and catering, I've complimented Granit, and I want to publicly reiterate my compliments, as my entire group noted the superior cuisine at last night's dinner. We weren't aware there had been any changes to the staff, but since everyone was so satisfied, I wanted to find out more, and indeed this new addition seems to be a significant upgrade for the entire hotel. Congratulations, and kudos to everyone I mentioned, for making our guests' experiences special!

27/04/2026: This morning I sent the children to buy two brioches with sugar, and the children carelessly put their money on the register. The lady collects the money, but when it comes time to pay, she doesn't remember having collected it and asks for more, which the children don't have because I had given them the exact amount. So I go into the bakery to see why they weren't coming out and find myself in this situation, at which point I take the children to school, because it's late, and I go back to the bakery to pay for the brioches for the second time. It's not the double payment for the brioches that's the problem, but the clerk's teasing of the children.

01/08/2026: BEWARE OF THE PRICES! This is my first time at this fry shop. I've heard about it. The place is a bit basic, so I go in and order the fried fish. There's no price on the fish, no price on how much a fried fish costs. I get some calamari, shrimp, and cod to fry, and a small octopus to grill. The fried fish is excellent, and the octopus is very good. There's nothing to complain about. The problem is the bill!!! For a plate of fried fish for two, 1 octopus split between two, 1 water, and 1 Coke, I paid €64. A SCAM!!! As I was leaving, I had a doubt, but did I go to the friggo e mangi or to Vela?? Be careful with the prices, they'll rip you off like a glove!!! I definitely won't be going back...

25/07/2026: Not easy to reach by car due to the one-way system: from the main road, exit at the Torre a Mare junction, continue until you reach the hedges, turn left, and go up towards San Giorgio. It's after the second street on the left. Parking is mostly on this street or on the same street. There's indoor space, both covered and uncovered, which is recommended especially in the summer. You have to go past this to get in, and since it was crowded, I wasn't sure if you can only order at the counter or from the pizza chef. They also do fried food and takeout.

12/10/2025: A small (fabulous) cocktail before noon, a very warm welcome, an attentive server, excellent value for money. We recommend it.

02/03/2026: Sunday lunch with friends, what can I say, poor. The appetizers were one dish for every two people: two tiny pieces of sausage, two microscopic mushrooms, two very thin sheets of pecorino, a tiny ricotta, etc., etc. We asked for more cheese, and they brought a different type. The drizzle of oil was very poor quality. The first course, with turnip tops, was good. The dessert, cheesecake, was definitely packaged. When we finished, I was still hungry. We paid €40, but for the same amount, we've eaten much more elsewhere and not been too cheap. Never again... highly discouraged.

08/11/2025: Breakfast here is truly special!! A good selection of croissants and pastries for breakfast, even unconventional ones. Excellent quality. For us, that's a given. Fast and friendly service, parking available, and outdoor seating.

29/11/2025: I'm sorry to have to leave this review, but if the owners read it, I hope they see it as a starting point for improvement. For some time now, we've considered it one of the best in Bari, ousting other safe havens that were a guarantee for us, and we've even recommended it to friends and family, but the last two dinners have been truly disappointing. The quality of the food and the workmanship has deteriorated, the fish is of questionable freshness, and the rice falls apart. The portions are also smaller and presented in a sloppy manner, with less care than before. I'm very sorry, but we'll have to find another place if the situation doesn't change. Update as of today, 29/22/2025: After a few months, we returned to give it another try and found some improvements, so we're returning from time to time. 😊

31/03/2026: When there's a family occasion to celebrate... we have no hesitation... we choose "Il grande buco quadrato" for both lunch and dinner, where we feel at home thanks to the kind hospitality of Franco, the owner, always ready to meet the customer's needs, respecting them... and the delicacies of chef Giuseppe! I recommend trying the seafood risotto... it's superb!! Quality food... the setting is very characteristic and welcoming in stone, the service is fast, the waitresses are friendly and professional... in short, for all of this we feel happy and satisfied. I highly recommend trying it to believe it!!

31/03/2026: Very nice location, clean, tidy and tastefully furnished located a few steps from the city center and with ample seating availability 😊 excellent appetizers, superlative pizzas, abundant dishes and everything strictly fresh and of the highest quality 😊 the staff very friendly, helpful, professional and with a strong sympathy especially from the owner who very willingly improvises magic tricks and collective entertainment with extreme ease and skill in the execution 😄 excellent value for money and therefore I highly recommend it 😉 see you soon 💪😊😉👍

12/04/2026: ‼️ Watch out tourist trap. We arrived 10 minutes before closing and they sold us two dried-out puccias with a Coke for a made-up price of €20. When we confronted her, the lady tried to play dumb and said it was a mistake, but even after checking the prices on the delivery services (which they have posted on the door), the amount she charged still doesn’t add up. They just took advantage of the fact that we’re not locals and don’t understand them. Avoid this place at all costs, never again ‼️

07/12/2025: Very welcoming place. I've been there for dinner several times and have always had a great time. Everything is delicious. :) I've also had their home delivery service, and it was very efficient... recommended.

23/11/2025: This disgusting pizzeria only cares about money. It was supposed to bring us the pizzas at 11pm, but at 11:30pm they still hadn't arrived. We decided to call and found out that they had the wrong number and therefore no one was answering their calls. If we had wanted the pizzas, they would have had to remake them and we would have had to pay more. Shame on you! We found ourselves having to think of another type of dinner for the whole family at 11:30pm.
