Chef Alessia and her daughter managed to convey a warmth and love for simple yet refined cuisine, which they shared with us as they shared their fascinating story. 08/10/2025: I recommend fasting for a day before going to eat at their place. The portions are huge and the food is delicious. I recommend the ravioli, one of their specialties. The prices are very fair. I highly recommend going there.

07/10/2025: What you'd expect from an Abruzzo trattoria. Huge portions, bold flavors, and quality meat. Affordable prices, a good value, and now in the new location, plenty of seating, parking, and reasonable service times. Two first courses, a second course split in half, a half-liter of house wine, two side dishes, and two coffees for €51 total. Recommended for a "strong" experience. Visited September 17th.

22/09/2025: Pleasant and clean rooms. The hotel is located at the intersection of many hiking trails, making it an excellent base for walks. The staff is friendly and actively works to make your stay enjoyable.

The service is impeccable: discreet yet always present, with attentive and knowledgeable staff who recommend tasting menus and food pairings, without ever being intrusive. The carefully crafted atmosphere makes the venue ideal for a romantic dinner, a sophisticated occasion, or simply to indulge in a truly relaxing evening. We chose the seven-course tasting menu, thoughtfully structured with three appetizers, two first courses, a second course, and a dessert from the menu. The option to customize the menu with a few variations is appreciated, albeit at an additional cost, confirming the desire to satisfy even the most discerning palates. The sequence of dishes reveals a cuisine that is both modern and rooted in the region. The carpaccio is memorable, fresh and well-balanced, reflecting a commitment to the finest ingredients. The tortelli stuffed with ventricina are full of character, a dish that combines refined technique and local identity, with a rich filling balanced by balanced toppings. Small touches of refinement abound: entrées designed to introduce the experience with lightness and curiosity, and a selection of small pastries to gracefully conclude the experience, in keeping with the cuisine's style. The bill, in keeping with the quality of the dishes, service, and ambiance, offers a balanced and fair value for a gastronomic experience of this caliber. 12/08/2025: An elegant, modern, welcoming location. On the veranda, spectacular view of the lake, relaxing atmosphere. Attentive, fast, prepared, kind staff, impeccable service. Careful, classy plating. We tasted every single dish, well-defined and delicate flavors, the "plin" an enveloping taste. It was a beautiful experience, unique emotion, gourmet journey, very high quality in everything, to be repeated. Truly top, to be tried. Fair prices

08/10/2025: I expected better, average product, good platter of cured meats, cheeses and fried foods, you could feel the low quality of the cured meats, costs too high for an average quality product, nice location

13/09/2025: If you come to Castel di Sangro, you absolutely have to stop and eat here. A very well-kept restaurant, with attentive and fast staff, and excellent food. Excellent value. My partner and I (we're parents, so we came with our young daughter) split a €24 appetizer and then ordered two first courses. My pappardelle with porcini mushrooms were spectacular. Finally, a lemon sorbet to refresh the palate. A highly recommended place for new parents. The bathroom also has a changing table for emergencies.

02/10/2025: We stumbled upon it by chance, and it was a pleasant surprise. The service is a little slow in the evening because it is very busy, but the wait is worth it. The pizzas are very well garnished and the dough is really very good. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere very friendly, we highly recommend it.

28/09/2025: We stopped by on our way back from a trek and found the atmosphere truly delightful. The food was excellent, with fresh pasta made by them, as well as desserts. The service was friendly and attentive! I recommend it to anyone looking for a great atmosphere, authentic food, and a friendly atmosphere!

25/09/2025: Here's a review you might find useful We dined at La Foce and were thrilled. The first courses were exquisite: authentic flavors, fresh ingredients, and meticulous preparation. The staff was extremely welcoming and friendly, making us feel right at home. The warm and relaxed atmosphere made the evening even more enjoyable. We'll definitely be back to try the other dishes on the menu!

21/09/2025: It's a pleasure to review places like this, where the owners are truly passionate about what they do and the local area, selecting quality local ingredients. The pappardelle with venison and wild boar will remain in our hearts, but the pappardelle with hare and venison were also delicious. The tart was also a highlight. Besides eating well, we discovered so much about the national park. We'll definitely be back soon to try the rest of the menu!

13/10/2025: What can I say, where to begin... We arrive for lunch, although it was more of a kidnapping than a lunch. The table is medium-sized, and the first thing we ask is if they have vegan options. Otherwise, I would have easily looked for another place for myself and another person. I say yes, and so we all sit down. An eternity passes before anyone comes to ask if we want a drink; no menus are available. Another eternity passes before they come to ask us about appetizers, which we obviously couldn't choose since the menus were never brought to the table. I remind the waiter that I'm vegan, asking what the vegan options are, and the answer I get is "I DON'T KNOW, VEGETABLES," in a tone that's annoyed to say the least. The famous vegetables arrive: some tasteless grilled peppers and mediocre eggplants—these are the vegan options. Congratulations. Another eternity later, another waiter arrives (or maybe the owner, I don't know), asking us for our starters, again without having had a chance to consult the menu. Once again, I naively ask what I should choose, and he replies, "You have to tell me what you want," which I would have done if I'd only known what was on offer, but without a shred of a menu, it's hard to ask for anything. When I reiterate which foods I don't eat, he even rolls his eyes at me, astonished. We settle on pasta with porcini mushrooms, a mediocre dish like the rest of the dishes, which also left me feeling nauseous for the rest of the day, and perhaps it's best not to investigate the reasons. The other diners fared better, but they too were offered samples of three starters, but only two of them arrived. When some asked for second courses, the initial response was "we have meat," further information was provided upon prompting, shocking. Now I wonder how it's possible, in 2025, to approach customers like this. I've rarely seen such ignorance and rudeness from someone offering a service, or at least supposedly so. Not to mention that all it would have taken was for them to immediately say, "No, they don't have vegan options," and I would have saved myself an absurd amount of money for dishes that should shame the people who prepared them, and you for having a clearly unwelcome customer at your establishment.

05/10/2025: A welcoming, family-run restaurant just steps from the Castle, offering excellent homemade food. The owner is incredibly kind, friendly, and welcoming, serving and describing his dishes with passion and energy. Each dish has a story and a reason for being there, and we were treated to a meticulous service throughout the meal, as were the other diners at the tables. Delicious food in a delightful atmosphere. We will definitely be back, and we sincerely thank the owner for the welcome and unexpected gift of a lovely bottle of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, which we will drink to his health! Highly recommended, and see you soon!

02/10/2025: Visited yesterday for lunch with friends, all experts in wine, terroir, and food. First-class hospitality and a meticulously curated menu, crafting ideas using top-quality local ingredients (grains, herbs, flowers, and select meats) crafted with inspiration and substance. Whether it's grain risotto with herbs and dandelion petals, or pork stew, or lamb with local herbs, you're spoiled for choice. Sandro Baliva manages everything with care, passion, and a surprising knowledge of the rural culture of the past, which he respectfully reinterprets in his dishes. A bonus is the location, just steps from Piccolomini Castle, and the view of the Fucino valley.

08/09/2025: Having stumbled upon lunch here by chance while visiting L'Aquila's historic center, we discovered a refined and tasty cuisine, made with local ingredients. At the end of the meal, the chef explained how he cooked the seemingly simple grilled chicken. The handmade pappardelle, topped with sheep's milk ricotta, Campostano sausage, and black truffle, were incredibly rich. The final treat, which alone deserves six stars, was the gentian ice cream. A true delight... The bill was the final pleasant surprise.

07/09/2025: Loved this restaurant. Food was incredible. Lamb was like nothing I’ve ever had before My favorite restaurant in l’Aquila. The owners are so nice and were very kind to a foreigner like me. I loved it so much I went back 2 days in a row. Pasta is fresh and local, and the lamb is unbelievable.

28/09/2025: An ideal place for an outdoor lunch overlooking the square. Today, despite the restaurant being full, they quickly served us an excellent Camilla's chitarra and veal strips. The focaccias served in a bread basket and the tiramisu were also good! Highly recommended.
