12/10/2025: A very clean and welcoming place, attentive waiters, and smooth service. I knew I was on the safe side when I booked dinner to celebrate my anniversary, and we weren't disappointed! The strength of "Mazzo"'s dishes lies in their balance of flavor and character, while also giving a nod to Roman tradition! They also have a wide selection of wines (I can't say much about this because I'm neither a drinker nor a connoisseur, but my partner was pleasantly surprised). 10/09/2025: Everything was delicious! The owner was a genius. They were closing and they served us just the same: porchetta, polpette, involtini, tagliere, all homemade and spectacular! Highly recommended!

08/09/2025: High quality and low prices! The staff is always helpful, clean, and friendly. Definitely the best fraschetta in Frascati! It also has outdoor seating.

11/10/2025: I'd recommend sticking with pizza. We tried the carbonara and the cacio e pepe, but they were absolutely mediocre. The carbonara wasn't creamy, and the bacon wasn't crispy, and it was supermarket-quality. The cacio e pepe was very runny and poorly blended. I think the problem lies in the fact that no one in the kitchen knows traditional dishes anymore; they haven't attended a proper cooking school, but have approached the kitchen by copying and from bad teachers.

13/10/2025: It is with a heavy heart that I leave a very negative review of this place, which we frequented regularly with the whole family years ago. We tried it after Covid and saw a clear change in the cuisine, which was somewhat "modernized" compared to the old trattoria it once was. Yesterday, 12/10, we tried again after a while. The dishes were still as abundant as they once were, but only on a few things: a mixed seafood appetizer with seafood salad, salmon, and octopus in a gourmet version on a micro-stellar plate, and then a mega plate of mussels and fried anchovies (remarkably bland). Total imbalance between the dishes of the same appetizer. While waiting for the first courses, my 2-year-old seriously needed a diaper change. The bathroom in 2025 wasn't equipped with a changing table and lacked even the slightest bit of space to change him. I kindly asked for help in the dining room to find a corner to change him, perhaps behind the curtain that hides spare chairs, drinks, and various other knick-knacks. I was told that it wasn't possible, that they couldn't leave that hidden table for me because they would have other guests. I insisted, saying it would take no more than 5 minutes, that it was a serious necessity, and that I would hide so as not to disturb the other diners (who were far from that corner anyway). The final response was, "No, we don't have room, ma'am. Go change him in your car." Anyone familiar with the area knows that the restaurant doesn't have parking and that finding a nearby spot is impossible, so driving led to the pasta and main courses arriving cold, and a significant inconvenience. We stayed out of respect for the other people we were with, but we wanted to turn around and leave. I am a customer who deserves a complete service, as I pay, and there's no such answer, but we'll find a solution together (I speak as someone who works with the public and knows what it means to make customers feel comfortable). They saw us yesterday, and they won't see us again, both because of the rudeness and the decrease in the quality and selection of food compared to before.

11/10/2025: The place feels like an old, unpretentious neighborhood trattoria. The owner wasn't very professional, rather sullen and a bit harsh. The waiter was kind and professional, the service was quick. I'd say the food was plentiful but mediocre, and the price was fair for the quality, especially considering the location. The negatives that lowered my rating: the waiters who complained, at the end of the service, about customers who hadn't ordered enough (we're not all the same and can have personal issues), and a stomach ache with intestinal problems that both my husband and I had (perhaps because of the poorly cleaned mussels? Maybe).

23/07/2025: Cenare da Mario significa immergersi nell'essenza della cucina capitolina, perché questo ritorante offre un'esperienza che va ben oltre il semplice pasto. Ogni consiglio del personale è prezioso, ogni spiegazione rivela l'amore per gli ingredienti selezionati e le ricette tramandate. Il ritmo del servizio segue quello naturale della convivialità italiana: mai affrettato, sempre attento. I piatti sono eccellenti ed anche i contorni, spesso trascurati altrove, qui brillano di luce propria. Il conto finale sorprende positivamente: prezzi onesti per una qualità che supera le aspettative. Da Mario non si va solo per mangiare, ma per vivere Roma attraverso i suoi sapori più autentici. Un'esperienza da ripetere assolutamente.

22/07/2025: Un ristorante speciale, datato con cucina di una volta. Che altro dire, se vuoi mangiare la vera cucina romana sei nel posto giusto.. Camerieri preparati ed educati, cucina di casa con sapori e prezzi onestissimi Carta dei vini fantastica, prezzi più che ragionevoli e scelta tra quasi 200 etichette Torneremo sicuramente Piatti romani, carne tartufo e funghi di livello altissimo Grazie per l ESPERIENZA

22/10/2025: I really liked this place — the food was delicious and well-prepared. The shrimp pasta was just perfect: creamy sauce, fresh shrimp, and the pasta cooked to perfection. Cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. I also counted the calories using the service shown in the photo attached to my review. It turned out to be super convenient and fast! Now I totally recommend everyone to try using this calorie tracking service — it makes it so easy to monitor your diet and stay on track.

21/10/2025: Very nice food and location. The revelation was the Jewish style artichoke. Solid service and would recommend.

22/10/2025: Loved the variety on the menu, and the pasta was great! I also counted the calories using the service shown in the photo — quick and convenient. I’m using it regularly now to track my meals.

13/10/2025: Super delicious. We didn't wait in line (important) and ate very well. Delicious pasta with ricotta and cacio, and pasta with meat... the most delicious pasta with meat, in our opinion. Very, very delicious. For dessert, the lemon sorbet is delicious! Highly recommended.

11/10/2025: I'm in Rome with my son, and we head for lunch at this historic trattoria, which opens at 12:30, but we didn't have a reservation. Luckily, they give us a table, and for an hour, we're immersed in a Roman atmosphere of lamb with "parate" sauce, meatballs with tomato sauce, and artichokes "alla giudia" (Jewish-style). The staff are incredibly kind, and the food is unforgettable.

08/10/2025: Terrible service... I made a reservation, arrived, and was assigned a cramped table in a corner where I couldn't move. The restaurant was still empty, and I asked if I could get another. They said "this or nothing." I replied, "Then nothing." They took the menu and said, "You're welcome," pointing to the exit door. Avoid it. Go elsewhere.

14/10/2025: Had an excellent traditional italian meal and my bfriend had a very good pizza. The food and wine was much cheaper than other restaurants in the area. So really good value for money and worth a visit. Service was good.

13/10/2025: A restaurant with good potential, but several aspects need rethinking. We happened upon this restaurant on the main street while passing by, attracted by the good reviews. A small restaurant (about thirty seats) with a family atmosphere: the owner and his daughter are welcoming and kind, although the service is a bit disorganized. My companion had a half portion of chestnut and porcini soup, very good but very small (maybe three spoonfuls, for €7). Next, cod with porcini mushrooms, good and a decent portion. I ordered the "old-fashioned meatballs" (€14), expecting a home-style dish with tomato sauce or plain sauce. Instead, I received three fried and breaded meatballs, not specified on the menu. I had to remove the breading, and the result was disappointing. Aside, a portion of salad for €3—literally two leaves from a bag. The wine was very good, but overall we spent €54, and I ended up not eating. The place has good potential, but the portions, menu clarity, and value for money could be improved. The wait was quite long.

17/10/2025: This restaurant was recommended to us by our guest house host. It's unfortunate to read some of the reviews here, including from locals, on how this restaurant has apparently changed, but we really enjoyed our experience here, especially as we had given up for the night trying to find something good and authentic and available in nearby Trastevere. We started with the fried artichoke, which I thought could have been a bit more fried, but was still very good. We also had the battered cod, which was a surprisingly large portion, perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. As a main we shared the chili chicken, with some roasted potatoes and a green salad, and this was also excellent. For dessert, the panna cotta — which is not my favourite to be honest — but this one I enjoyed, as it was fresh and firm and flavourful. We accompanied everything with a surprisingly inexpensive (€22) and perfectly acceptable bottle of Syrah, and some limoncello as a digestif. Service was smiling and attentive throughout and although the woman at the cash was somewhat 'businesslike' as others have mentioned, we didn't find this at all unusual or out of place for Rome, as that's her job after all, and it must be exhausting dealing with the endless tourists (like us). An older gentleman, who I assumed was the owner, was also present and was very pleasant and appreciative when we complimented him on our meal. So, while I naturally defer to the opinions of the locals, our own experience was very enjoyable, and in a quiet and relaxing location without the crowds and hassles of Trastevere. And for all of that, highly recommend.

19/10/2025: On Sunday 5th October we ate 2 pizzas, 2 suppli, 1 bottle of water, 2 small beers, we paid €58, cover charge €26, at the till they gave us €4 back after we pointed out that perhaps they had made a mistake, never again theft
